Two of the best new trends we have seen in anime lately is the emergence of original series, as in not based on manga, with titles like “Bna” and a combination of parodying/homage to the style of titles (or even genres) of the past as in series like “One Punch Man” and “Mob Psycho 100”. “Bang Brave Bang Bravern” manages to combine both, this time functioning as an homage/parody of mecha titles.

One of the biggest mysteries of the past Grammy cycle was the Best New Artist race, which seemed relatively weak and uncertain compared to past years. That said, the lineup ended up including some great acts from pop, American roots, alternative, jazz, R&b, and hip-hop, with the winner being jazz singer extraordinaire Samara Joy. This year let’s put on our thinking caps early to see what’s brewing in the race, which might be shaping up to be equally exciting.
Perhaps the most popular new artist right now is New York-based rapper Ice Spice. Ice has managed a couple of big hits, including the pop crossover “Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2,” alongside PinkPantheress. Both Ice and PinkPantheress look to be heavy favorites for the award, as “Boy’s a Liar” is one of the biggest hits of the eligibility season so far. Ice Spice is arguably a bigger...

The Grammy for Best New Artist is often criticized. Some think the award is a curse, and oftentimes goes to artists who don’t end up being relevant for long. Another common criticism is that it’s often late to the party on certain acts, nominating them after their peak or a year or two after they were actually new to the music scene. Still, in the grand scheme of things, many of the nominations or wins artists get, even if they’re late, are deserved. Here are four artists who got their Bna spotlight a bit later than they should’ve.

If you check predictions for the 2022 Grammy nominations, you’ll see that Måneskin were pretty much locked in for a Best New Artist nomination. This made total sense: the band had a banner year with their single “Beggin’” and their international success from Eurovision.

The Grammy for Best New Artist can be a double-edged sword. The award has been associated with a certain “curse” where winners in the category tend to fade away from the public consciousness rather quickly, especially in comparison to their fellow nominees. With a recent coronation of yet another Best New Artist, Olivia Rodrigo, I think it’s time to truly reevaluate whether the award is really a kiss of death. Let’s specifically take a look at the 2010s and onward.
A couple of winners fall into the “genre favorite” category, where the winning artist didn’t become a huge crossover star but still enjoys success in their particular field. For example, the 2010s opened with a win for country group Zac Brown Band. A lot of people mark their win with an asterisk, since that year’s breakout superstar, Lady Gaga, was deemed ineligible due to a Grammy...

It seems the concept of anthropomorphism has started to become a trend in the anime world, with a number of titles of quality, as in the case of “Bna” and “Beastars”. “Odd Taxi” moves in the same path, although in a much different animation style than the two aforementioned.
Odokawa, the protagonist of the story, is a 41-year old walrus taxi driver whose parents abandoned him in elementary school, leaving him generally asocial, in a way though, that has him being rather frank to the point of nihillism in all his interactions, including those with his passengers. However, he still has some friends who are quite loyal to him, as in the case of Gouriki, a gorilla doctor who is also Odokawa’s physician, and Kakihana, a gibbon who works as a janitor and tries to pick up women through a dating app. Furthermore, Shirakawa, a young alpaca who works...

It seems that this year for anime is the one for original content (not manga adaptations), with a number of such productions screening on TV, frequently being of the highest quality, with titles like “Deca-Dence“, “Bna” being the first that come to mind. With a narrative that seems to have drawn from “The Cell” and “Paprika”, “ID:Invaded” is definitely among those titles.

The Grammy for Best New Artist is one of the most prestigious awards to recognize up-and-coming talent in the music industry. In the words of previous Bna winner Alicia Keys, “Best New Artist is a really powerful nomination and, also, award to receive. It says a lot about who you are, what you’re up to, and where you’re going.” So who are those looking to join the elite club of winners who range from The Beatles and Carly Simon to Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish?

A rarity for the anime world, “Bna” is not based on a manga but is actually an original series produced by Studio Trigger. With a style that reminds of Science Saru and with a context that includes an impressive metaphor on refugees, this is one of the best of the year.
Set in a world where humanoid animals (known as beastmen) and humans both co-exist and inhabit Earth, the series centers on Michiru Kagemori, a young teenage girl who one day suddenly starts turning into a tanuki beastman. Running away, she seeks refuge in Anima City, a city built for beastmen to be able to live peacefully as themselves, and ends up meeting a wolf beastman named Shirou Ogami. Together, they investigate how and why Michiru became a beastman, becoming mixed up in even stranger events in the process

In the days leading up to the Fourth of July, New York governor Andrew Cuomo took to social media urging state residents to avoid indoor parties and large gatherings. But it seems folks didn’t listen and after seeing pictures of packed beaches and stocked bars surface online, a second wave of coronavirus-induced quarantine and social distancing seems closer than ever before.

How does Netflix determine which titles leave and which enter its dauntingly large library? Do they carefully analyze viewing statistics and find content that caters to our interests? Or do they simply throw an immense amount of content at the wall and watch what sticks?
The answer is probably a mix of both. Like most entertainment companies, Netflix knows full well the potential of mathematics, but it also respects the creative spirit. As such, some new additions may have been carefully chosen, and others not. In any case, here’s an overview of the 81 new movies and TV shows headed to the platform this coming week.
Let’s begin with the basics. One of the most inoffensive yet well-crafted Hollywood films arriving is Donnie Brasco. Produced in 1997, it stars now-legendary actor Johnny Depp in one of his first lead roles ever, and tells the story of an undercover cop who...

Well, it looks like Netflix has done it again.
When it comes to their original movies, the streaming site has been on a bit of a roll lately and with The Wrong Missy having released on the platform today, it would seem that they’ve managed to strike a chord with subscribers once more.
The hilarious, laugh-out-loud comedy stars David Spade and Lauren Lapkus and centers on a “man who accidentally invites a crazy blind date from his past who shares the same name as the woman of his dreams to his work retreat.” What could possibly go wrong?
Well, it turns out a lot, and most of it is pretty funny. At least, that’s judging by what folks are saying about The Wrong Missy over on Twitter. Indeed, the internet seems to be going crazy for Netflix’s newest original movie and below, you can see how people are reacting.
