Sex & Nudity

  • While Kratos is having sex with Aphrodite (offscreen) we see the goddess' two maidens (both topless) caressing each other and making suggestive comments about the sexual act.
  • Several female statues, enemies, and NPC's appear topless to varying degrees of detail. Some cutscenes show breasts and nipples in full detail. There is also a minigame where Kratos has sex. While the actual act is not shown, we do see people watching it happen off screen and responding with arousal and enjoyment.

Violence & Gore

  • Many of the boss deaths can be brutal like Hermes who has his legs sliced off by kratos with blood spilling from his legs and cronos in where his belly is cut open with intestines visible.
  • There is a very high level of blood and gore, and all instances are clearly seen and very, very gory.
  • You can gut creatures and tear them in half.
  • There are instances in the game where the player is forced to brutally kill innocent & helpless characters, even when they're begging for their lives, in order to progress.

Profanity

  • In the behind the scenes videos that are in the game, there are uses of strong profanity like the F word
  • Some infrequent mild language. Bastard, ass, damn, hell, etc.
  • Profanity in the main game is very mild

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some characters are show drinking wine and other alcohol. A few characters are implied to be drunk at times.
  • One female character drinks a lot of wine and is obviously drunk in 2 scenes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In the fight with Hades, his helmet is ripped off, showing off a mangled face. This face can be a bit disturbing.
  • Many of the enemies are monsters from Greek mythology, and thus have somewhat grotesque appearances. Minotaurs, gorgons, cyclopses, chimeras, and such all show up.
  • If this were on pc it would have been rated AO
  • The world plummets into chaos when Kratos kills the gods, and diseases wreck havoc on citizens causing the to scream and die.
  • The violence is EXTREMELY graphic and VERY disturbing.
  • When you enter Hades the creatures are very scary looking, including Hades himself.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Several enemies and characters are disfigured by graphic injuries. The character Hades is especially grotesque, especially when his helmet is removed.
  • At the end of the fight with Posiedon, Kratos gouges his eyes out and snaps his neck, all of this is seen from Posiedon's perspective
  • Kratos kills one of the gods, Helios, by ripping his head off with his bare hands. This is shown in extremely graphic detail, complete with plenty of blood, tissue, veins and muscle on the severed head. He then uses the head throughout the rest of the game as a weapon. This scene is very graphic, and can be disturbing to some.

Profanity

  • Hera calls Pandora a "little whore" and kratos kills her after

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Kratos kills mercilessly and seems to have little to no remorse throughout the game. He has no problem using innocent bystanders as fodder to complete his goals. He is determined to get his revenge on the gods, no matter what.
  • Several points throughout the game show the effects of Kratos's rampage on the world. Whenever he kills a god, some sort of natural disaster occurs, resulting in huge amounts of collateral damage.
  • At the end of the game, Kratos is overcome with the weight of his past and his actions. He stabs himself in the stomach with a massive sword in an attempt to kill himself, but he is implied to have survived.
