A film that should be seen by everyone
chrishastings106613 October 2020
I saw this as part of the Satisfied Eye International Film Festival and by the end of the screening there wasn't a dry eye in the house. A wonderfully honest and truthful film that looks at the real impact of Alzheimer's on the families and loved ones whose lives become completely torn apart by the illness; and whose role shifts from loved one to that of a care giver. It's a profound and moving film where the line becomes blurred when considering who really suffers most at the hands of this terrible illness. It's shot with brutal honesty and with an ever-ageing population where Alzheimer's and dementia are becoming more prevalent - and therefore those affected more ubiquitous - it's a film that I think everyone needs to watch.

A Raw, Deep and Transformative Experience

My husband and I sat down to watch "When All That's Left is Love" on Thursday night, not sure exactly what to expect. We knew generally that the film was a documentary and about Alzheimer's and I, a few days prior having virtually met Eric through the Paris International Film Festival (where the film was featured), knew that the filmmaker was a very nice guy; but that was about it. After watching the film in its entirety, glued to our seats, we were deeply impacted. This documentary will have you hooked; and not because its glamorous, superficial or has lots of bling and action-packed thrills... it will unequivocally capture and hold your attention because it is real, it is raw, deep and powerful. When All That's Left is Love exposes the deep struggles of those who deal with Alzheimer's and the families and spouses who care for their afflicted loved ones. It is not pretty; it is not light. Have Kleenex on hand because you WILL cry. But you will also be inspired, deeply affected and enlightened. I would recommend this film to everyone with a heart and soul. It is transformative and I now have so much empathy and compassion for those who struggle with this debilitating disease. Hats off to Eric Gordon for gifting the world this inspiring passion project and for sharing your father/family's story and the stories of so many without a voice.

A must see

This honest and yet beautiful documentary is a must see. Eric Gordon shows us how families, including his, are impacted by Alzheimer, and how love is the strongest bond that keeps them going. It shows as well how much caregivers are impacted by their loved ones' illness, and how their own wellness are often forgotten.
