What can I say... this thriller is the gift that keeps on giving.

The double faced people, the continued twists.

Vigil still unreachable... DCI Silva and the cox'n teamwork (pretty well together)

And that damn cliffhanger *chef's kiss*

Episode 5

I knew the Coxswain wasn't trying to hurt DCI Silva, just protect her from the gas, she was really close though and suffered not from it. Later however a small tear in the Coxswain's diving suit meant he almost didn't make it out and might possibly die (death bed confession about something perhaps). I think the fact he admitted to the Captain that he had been having an affair was either a moment of honesty, or a very clever way of getting DCI Silva to trust him by making her think he's trust worthy by admitting his wrong doing therefore throwing her off him who might still be the culprit, but I hope it isn't him because he's my favourite character.

The ending I think is where this episode really excelled. That'll be fun seeing how she gets out of that one (it'd make for a really good plot twist if she just dies there). I'm pretty sure given the reveal (of someone I didn't recognise) at the end that the Coxswain isn't guilty but who knows.

Maybe there might not be a Russian agent involved. It could be the Chinese.

A terrific penultimate episode. It was full of twists and turns.

Both DS Longacre and DCI Silva think they have cracked it. They end up in another dead end.

The baddies remain one step ahead by being wily, cunning or just duping someone.

The sequence in the submarine was nail biting. You just knew once Silva got out of her diving outfit she would get an unfriendly welcome.

Breathless entertainment.

HMS Vigil is in real trouble, it falls on the most unpopular person on the boat to try and turn things around.

The trend now seems to be for the penultimate episode of a six part series to be the big hitter, and the finale to come as something of a let down. The first part is definitely true, the second.. we'll wait and see.

I am absolutely exhausted after watching that, what a rollercoaster ride that was, one of the most exciting, dramatic things I have seen in a very long time. It's been a cracking series, and this was perhaps the best of the lot.

Everyone has their part to play, both on board and on land, I was once again blown away by Jones and Evans.

Wow, 10/10.

Episode 5: A more dramatic, well-lubed episode with actual suspense and thrill. Although, how could that can full of deadly nerve agent chemicals have found its way there and by who is utterly unbelievable; in the sub and in that specific place; onboard security leaves much to be desired and that's why it's not credible and near impossible.

The series is not "24".

Nevertheless, this episode gets an 8 for its acting and highly felt thrill.

I love the show, but there is a big plothole in this episode.

Or have I misunderstood?

They are going to neutralize the device?

I may have missed something, but I can't find any referens to what the device is.
