Tony socialises with an old friend, Doctor Rachel White at a conference, after a night of drinking together, Rachel is killed, Tony is The Prime Suspect.
What a great episode this is, just when you think the show is starting to run out of steam a little, they come up with a scorcher like this.
So they previously had a storyline where Tony was suspected of being the killer, so there's nothing particularly original about it, but we care about Tony the character, and if course seeing him in trouble really does work.
The question I had coming away from this first half, was Rachel's killer, the same one that's killing the prostitutes? It doesn't seem like a conventional whodunnit as such, but it will be so interesting to learn the truth.
There are two genuinely excellent performances here, Ben Batt is superb as the killer, Pop Torrens equally good as the unimpressed Detective.
9/10.
