Para pasar el rato.
myleskilmister4 October 2022
As a movie it's bad, it lacks many things but you can't deny that it's entertaining, especially when you have nothing to do... the secret is to watch it without prior judgement, more than one laugh will make you feel, even in the most "terrifying" scene.

I repeat, it is not a masterpiece, but it is entertaining if you want to see something nice. One of the advantages of the movie "Claw" is that it only lasts 1 hour and 8 minutes (Not counting Credits).

Totally recommended for those who like "Low Cost" movies or B movies and the most critical, open your mind to low budget movies, because at some point we could appear in them as extras xd.

A fun movie
daveleo20104 October 2021
This is a nice little comedy. It ain't King Lear. It ain't Gone With The Wind. It's a small fun movie, designed to make you smile and laugh and get some cheap flash scares on the way. The acting is just fine, in fact very good for this movie genre.

When you have some time and need to decompress, start this one and see how you like it.

Self-destructed at the finish line.
S_Soma7 July 2021
A note about my rating system: because I rate on a highly subjective, relativistic scale, virtually any movie can achieve a 10/10 rating with me. After all, nothing prevents even the very cheapest of movies from telling a great story. A limited budget and amateur actors needn't cripple a movie in the hands of enthusiastic and devoted makers. And so on.

Just as uninspired workmanship can flush a giant budget down the toilet, so can talent and enthusiasm carry the day for the poverty-stricken. You'd be surprised how your old aunt Mabel and best pal Cooter can reach for the stars on their Walmart lunch break last Tuesday. A 10/10 is within the grasp of any movie that cares enough to rise above itself and reach for it.

And, sadly, it's precisely because of this truth that CLAW was so disappointing. For about 90% of the movie, CLAW was sailing along, high and proud, and was well on its way to getting at least a 9/10 and had the potential of even a top 10/10.

And then CLAW literally self-destructed right at the finish line. The writer/director (mostly the same person) somehow lost control or simply went insane and CLAW transmogrified back into the moldy pumpkin from whence it came. Somehow, watching the movie, which had been doing so well, suddenly sprout warts out of nowhere was more disturbing than if it had simply been garbage all along.

I can't be certain, of course, but the impression that I got was that the writer/director couldn't figure out how to end the movie. And so we got a cheesy ending feint of a dream sequence followed by an even worse dream-echo sequence where a full-grown Tyrannosaurus rex just shows up out of nowhere and peeks in through the window. Rawr.

For most of the movie, CLAW had a sort of original TREMORS buddy/monster movie kind of vibe going for it. Structurally, it was almost identical to TREMORS where we have an unjustifiably-present monster effectively just thrown on stage (a premise you're just supposed to accept out of goodwill, apparently) and then the bulk of the movie is our unlikely duo attempting to come to terms and survive in a remote location, with no hope of help, while creatively fending off this monster that wants to eat them.

In CLAW, the two leads did a surprisingly high quality acting job and were very engaging/believable. The simple setting, premise and chase-scene sensibilities in combination with engaging and believable leads was working an excellent chemistry, and then, without warning, the whole thing just took a turn for the stupid.

What a shame.

Watch VelociPastor instead
FeastMode7 February 2022
This movie is terrible. I laughed once. I jumped a couple times. But it fails at everything. Except having characters say each other's names. It might have the world record for that. It's half the dialogue.

By far the worst part of the movie is the Kyle character/performance. Everything he says and does is completely unfunny to the point of cringing. He's obnoxious and annoying. His accent is all over the place. He could have singlehandedly tanked a good movie. Lucky for him this entire movie is as awful as his performance.

...that was harsh lol.

I actually did laugh a second time, very hard. It's when the credits rolled and they are, no exaggeration, the slowest credits in the history of credits. The movie is 80 minutes long but the last scene ends at 66 minutes. And a tiny movie like this will usually have credits run for 3 or 4 minutes. But I guess they wanted a more respectable runtime so they made the credits 14 minutes long. I timed how long it took for text from the bottom to reach the top: a shocking 40 seconds!!!

I coincidentally watched another B-movie about a raptor just two days ago. It's called VelociPastor and is so much better. It's clever and intentional. (1 viewing, 2/6/2022)

Um.....It's really corny.
Otkon22 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
But it literally runs out of ideas and clocks out at an hour. Then it gives us a single outtake before proceeding to scroll the world's SLOWEST credits for 13 minutes. There must have been some industry or union rule that this had to be just over 80 minutes to qualify for something.

The dinosaur effects are silly and subpar so I am not too concerned about the dog who clearly went into hiding and changed his name.

Pretty bad
millerteachglobal31 July 2021
I give it 4 stars for the good CGI and the good acting of the girl. The acting of all the other characters was really bad. The plot is non-existent. I mean, the preview tells you literally what it is about: two people get chased around by a raptor for an hour and half. No backstory, no drama, no complexity, and the attempts at humor were pretty bad. Sorry to the people who made it, as I know you put your heart into it, but I just did not find it to be a good movie (the girl's good acting aside).

Sympathetic, nothing more
johannes2000-113 January 2024
I guess it was the intention to make this an ironical, tongue-in-cheek horror parody. Well, it's definitely all done with enthusiasm, and "sympathetic" is the word that constantly popped up in my mind while watching. But it was a bit too ambiguous for my taste. For a horror comedy it simply doesn't have enough horror, like serious jump scares or gore or even a basic building-up of the suspense. And for a comedy the humor was too dorky. I guess you could call it camp, but even then it didn't get enough substance to keep you interested throughout.

Another problem was that, after the first confrontation with the prehistoric raptor (done with simple looking CGI), the story didn't get any deeper or more multilayered; for the rest of the (very short) movie the raptor just kept roaring and chasing, while the main characters kept frantically running around to escape it. Chynna Walker and Richard Rennie act fine and they are funny enough, with some witty dialogues and ad-libs, but that's simply not enough to make a good and involving movie.

Short and Fun Film for the right audience
Armin_Nikkhah_Shirazi26 June 2023
The title CLAW is a synecdoche (a part which represents a whole, just as in JAWS (1975) the title actually refers to a shark). It refers to a prehistoric monster that was genetically re-engineered by a renegade scientist and ends up, for much of the duration of the movie, chasing a pair of comedians who made an involuntary stop at a desert ghost town.

This is brainless but fun entertainment for the right crowd. It takes neither science nor logic nor itself seriously, but that is okay because it is not meant to be a dissertation (a propos dissertation: the monster is referred to as a "raptor", short for "velociraptor", but that is actually a misidentification: none other than Michael Crichton, the author of JURASSIC PARK (1993), started a trend of giving this dinosaur which is closest to the ferocious Deinonychus the name of a Turkey-sized dinosaur, probably because it sounded cooler. Incidentally, whereas "velociraptor" means "swift robber", Deinonychus means "terrible claw"! Oh well).

I am part of the right audience because I like both movies in which people are chased by a monster (some comps I recently saw and liked: HOOKED UP (2013), where two people are chased by a ghost and DASHCAM (2021), where two people are chased by a flying zombie) and I like movies which have a ghost town as a background setting (a recent example: A TOWN FULL OF GHOSTS (2022)).

I am a very analytic person (see writing sample above) but it is good to every once a while let go and just let a silly movie be, as long as it hits the right entertainment notes, and this one does for me, mostly.

The CGI and acting are not top notch but adequate and the progression of events is entertaining, though I would have wished for a little faster pace. The music makes this film stand out from comparable low budget fare: the score is orchestral and gives the movie a little bit of a retro feel.

The ending overdoes the silliness a bit, and the 14-minute slo-mo end credits for this 80 minute movie must be some sort of an inside joke, but overall, it was not bad for a little over an hour entertainment. That is, if you like a movie that is just showing some people being chased by a monster against an unusual setting.

Can they either stop producing movies like this or make some attempt at being original? Scares and sound effects right out of Jurassic Park.

Acting straight out of direct to cable network (not even to DVD).

Pure Fun
ladymidath24 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I really found myself enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would. The cast were great and did a fine job. The special effects were really good for a movie that I don't think had a huge budget. The raptor actually looked scary which for me is a plus.

Two friends end up stuck in the middle of the desert when their car breaks down. They decide to try and seek help over at an old ghost town where they meet a rather eccentric old man. All the characters are really likable and there is a sweet dog that sadly meets its demise. It's not in the Jurassic Park standard, but as a fun little flick, it is quite enjoyable. The emphasis is on action with a comedic tone which does work. If they had tried to go more serious, I don't think it would have worked as well.

It's a entertaining movie that is a great way to pass a couple of hours.

SURPRISINGLY GOOD
juliewillemsenonline7 August 2021
I expected another cruddy creature feature and was pleasantly surprised with this movie. The acting was very good. The CG was pretty good and all in all it was a fun watch.

There was a couple of minutes right before the end that I thought was not funny at all. Thankfully it did not end on that.

Apart from that one bit, very, very watchable.

Good fun.

Stupid
jhr201230 September 2021
This movie is just plain stupid. I don't know where to begin. A horror/comedy? What?

The acting, if you want to call it that, is awful.

Avoid this garbage.

It Gave Some Effort.
talesofpotentia12 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The movie started out pretty good for the most part. The intro music was so great with its classical mix into horror. I enjoyed both of the leads. They had chemistry and made some moments enjoyable.

However, the latter half just went south of the border.

The effects weren't that bad.

Kudos to killing the dog. Though I liked Mr. Bo Jangles during his time on screen, I'm glad the horror aspect was there for that moment despite people always crying about the dog dying.

This film could have been better towards the second half..like it felt disjointed. If it fixed the issues it could have easily got a 6.5 or even a solid 7.

Couldve been better
naemarshall9 October 2023
When i first saw the movie title, i thought it would be good, but the CGI on it was TERRIBLE! And Kyle's performance was sort of cringy and annoying. Ive seen movies with way more production. BUT for it to be a movie on TUBI, i should not have been surprised. The dinosaur loved like they have just recorded it and put a green screen separately and it was VERY obvious in a couple of the shots. I laughed a couple of time, had maybe 1 or 2 jump scares, but thats it. It wasnt that scare. Its one of those movies you can show to a little kid who isnt scared of anything. Also, i did find the movie through Prime video then found out it was also on tubi, but on Prime Video who is the girl on the cover?

I was sold by the tagline.
ravencorinncarluk3 July 2021
Based on the actual quality of the movie and the writing, probably only 3 or 4 stars. Based on how much I enjoyed myself, 10 stars. So, split the difference.

I've watched movies with much higher production that took themselves far too seriously, and thus were worse than Claw. This movie was a bunch of people having fun, with a silly little story and some good humor.

Definitely not for everyone. More of a cult comedy thing, where you shouldn't take any of it serious and should just sit back and not think for an hour.

I enjoyed it.
lblackburnii14 October 2021
I think this movie is a bit underrated. I think we have all been ruined by the CGI and special effects associated with the Jurassic Park franchise. Because of this I try to avoid low budget dinosaur movies because lets face it, most are really bad. This one though, not so bad.

I grew a little tired of the campy music score, but aside from that., im glad I watched it. At least they took a little more time than most and focused on the CGI of the dinosaur. Let's not forget the old school stop motion/claymation effects of the past.

We got shared trauma
nogodnomasters27 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Julia Clarke (Chynna Walker) is a comedian being driven to LA by her gay friend Kyle (Richard Rennie). Their car gets a flat tire (no spare or phone service) three miles from a ghost town. They explore the creepy town and meet Ray (Mel Mede) who invites them to stay the night and they will be back on the road tomorrow. We know there is a raptor in the town (subtitles open with raptor growing). Of course the two come together as everyone fights to stay alive.

The raptor effects were not bad. I liked the characters for the most part and we know Chynna is the "final girl" as she is the only girl. The girl and scene on the DVD cover do not appear in the film.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

surprised is an understatement...
ops-525355 July 2021
Is the first thing that comes to my mind after watching this failgengred mystery thriller, that actually is a big black comedy, made on a subtle budget, with a small cast, and a claw itching rapper that tries to spin the records around in a ghostown somewhere u.s. Southwest.

Its taken to the limits at allparts of the production, the acting is durable and hits the funfactor more than once, its also an ironic kick in the calves of jurrasic moviemaking, except that this is people that has done their lesson, behind the light and camera, screwing togetheran urban interface outtin nowhere, with specialeffects worth a million on the dusin, and an acting crew whos dna was made for a film like this.

Its a at moments hilarious family actioncomedy funfare made on a buck and stamina, youll either get scared away by the intro music or the trailer, but give it a try is the grumpy old mans advice.there are still hope for the lilliputs in the silverscreen landscape.

Worth watching for the Lols
pjcguy-963-67726126 July 2021
Fun movie, a couple of good laughs, good acting for everybody, pleasant film for family night with the kids, popcorn, and lights down low. Huge pitfall? They didn't know how to end it, and they messed it up trying to complete the scenario rather than the actual film. Enjoyed it until the end.

Jurassic Trash - in a good way!
GZahn26 August 2021
You could argue the acting is pretty bad, the special effects are absolutely poor and all that, but believe me: if you want a little over an hour of good old fun, this movie may well be for you.

The story is simple and maybe not that original, but works well. The scares work well, too. And, simply put, it works.

A good movie to fill your free time!
kotarominami4 July 2021
I found this movie is good, hilarious and fun. I don't really mind the special effect, the actors were all good and make the characters alive.

They are real actors meant to make the movie great. All the ingredients to make this movie good is sufficient. The fun part, the scare jump and some a little bit gore.

Worth the 80 minutes.
ebmilkyway22 October 2022
This is a lower budget comedy/horror based on a prehistoric predatory creature that did an amazing job with the budget. The two lead actors, Chyna Walker and Robert Rennie, were believable in their roles as best friends headed to LA so she can start a new career. I hope to see them both in bigger features in the future. Mel Mede also did a good job as a helpful guy to two stranded friends.

The direction of the film was simple and clear. The special effects looked good as well. I believe the whole production crew did a great job creating this creature feature. Huge fan of well done creature features.

The title, however, was an odd choice.

If you have 80 minutes free and want to watch a good creature feature with comedy, look this one up. You can catch it free to watch right now! Honestly, I would've pa8d a few bucks to see it.

I absolutely love this movie. Great entertainment with perfect casting. It gave me so many laughs, shocks and sighs of relief. Only downside is the short length of just over an hour of running time.

I thoroughly recommend this movie to everyone and anyone.
