Imani has a new look on Y&R. Pic credit CBS
What happened to Imani on The Young and the Restless? That’s a question being asked after a new actress has taken over the role of Amanda’s (Mishael Morgan) sister.
Leigh-Ann Rose originated the role of Imani in December 2019 when Amanda finally found her biological mother, Naya (Ptosha Storey).
The talented actress has been heating things up as Imani sets her sights on Nate (Sean Dominic), who’s dating Elena (Brytni Sarpy).
Since Imani has been making waves in Genoa City and the writers are clearly in the midst of a love triangle, it was a bit odd to see a new actress in the role.
There’s good news, though, for Imani fans.
Leigh-Ann isn’t gone for good.

“When I walked away from ‘Housewives,’ I’m a woman of a certain age, I’m a Black woman, who just turned 55 years old in the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house this year. This is a young industry, the entertainment industry is pretty much for young people, for the most part. So there was a little bit of doubt in my mind, like, ‘Oh, wow, I hope this works out,...

Fox announced that lawyer, journalist and former “The View” co-host Star Jones has been appointed judge of the first-run syndicated series “Divorce Court,” starting in September.
As television’s longest running court show, “Divorce Court” dates back to the late 1950’s, when actors used to reenact actual divorce proceedings. Today, the program features real people and real cases — ranging from divorce court proceedings to other domestic disputes.
Judge Faith Jenkins will continue through the end of Season 23 and Jones will join for Season 24. Jones, a former assistant district attorney in New York and former legal correspondent on NBC’s “Today Show,” “Nightly News” and more, said that she will “offer the parties before ‘Divorce Court,’ as well as viewers, a no-nonsense approach to the law and a decision driven by my proven legal expertise, compassion and empathy, personal experiences and hard-earned common sense.”

"The answer's not always laid out..." Rlje Films has debuted a new trailer for a mystery pandemic horror-thriller titled Terror Lake Drive, from filmmaker Jerry Lamothe. The film, originally created as a mini-series for the Urban Movie Channel (Umc) last year, is also being released in the US as one long (3 hour) feature film. In the midst of a recent pandemic and calls for social distancing, a single mother sets her sights on starting a new life and relocates to Atlanta, but quickly discovers she can't outrun her past. Of course. Starring Shannon Kane, Donielle T. Hansley Jr., Malik Yoba, and Lamaan Rucker. It's a bit odd to see this rebranded as a feature film in this new trailer, but it might play a bit better as one long film. Maybe? Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jerry Lamothe's Terror Lake Drive, direct from YouTube: On the heels of a recent pandemic,...

Umc, the AMC Networks-owned streaming service focused on Black TV and film, will rebrand as Allblk in January.
The new name and look comes on the heels of a corporate realignment of the service. Last week, AMC Networks shifted it under the aegis of Gm Brett Dismuke along with linear network We tv.
Robert L. Johnson, the businessman known for founding BET, created Umc (short for Urban Movie Channel) in 2014. Johnson’s Rlj Entertainment, which also had streaming assets like Acorn TV, was acquired by AMC Networks in 2018.
“Umc began as a distribution model for Black creatives to directly reach the then largely underserved African-American audience without the restrictions of legacy content development and traditional broadcast models,” Johnson said in a statement. “As technology advances and programming demands from our community evolve, the rebranded Allblk will be well positioned to breakout as the preeminent streaming destination for viewers seeking Black entertainment.

Deadline has identified others, with most in early prep that’s ramped up sharply this week, a sign of progress for the industry and the Hollywood hub that like other hotspots has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases recently.

Blackhall Studios, with nine sound stages, has had “bodies on the ground” prepping since Monday for two film productions by 20th Century Studios and Universal, said CEO Ryan Millsap. More key personnel are expected to land over the next two weeks. “It will be a ramp-up,” he said.
