Alex gets angry

Warning: Spoilers
As the episode begins, we find Paul checking airline arrival time from Rome. Alex comes in early for his appointment with Dr. Weston, but evidently he heard the recording giving the information. He proceeds to talk about his relationship with Laura, which as we realize, is over now, having heard Laura tell it to Paul on her last session. Alex realizes what a magnet the young woman must be for the therapist. After all, she is beautiful! Dr. Weston tries to get away from the subject by trying to concentrate on Alex relation with his father, something that is not too clear in the therapist's mind. Alex is not forthcoming. The only thing the pilot volunteers is to tell Dr. Weston his father is a man of few words.

Alex shows a way to get back to Paul. He goes on a tirade against Dr. Weston, all based on what he perceives is his relation toward Laura. Paul realizes the anger hidden in Alex's mind, but he is unable to stop him from his hypotheses and accusations. At one point, white Alex is really accusing Dr. Weston of what he feels are improprieties with Laura, Paul gets up and throws the cup of coffee he has been drinking at his patient. Alex goes away angrier, showing anger in his face.

Before the outburst, someone knocked on the office door, startling Alex. After Alex leaves, Paul tries to pick up the pieces, but cuts his finger badly. The door is opened and Kate enters. She goes for some bandages to put on her husband's cut. She has just returned from Rome and declares it is over between her and the man she went away with.

Paris Barclay directed this chapter in the series. The screenplay was written by Bryan Goluboff. The director has worked extensively on television and he brings a new intensity to the way Dr. Weston and Alex interacted in the course of the session. In the process, he gets great response from the two principals, Gabriel Byrne and Blair Underwood. Michelle Forbes is seen at the end of the episode.
