Paul Weston arrives for his session with Gina Toll with a market bag. He explains it contains fish heads he wanted to use in a fish soup. He even tries to interest Gina into coming to dinner one night to taste his creation. She does not seem ecstatic with the prospect of such menu.
Paul recounts how difficult this last week has been for him. The experience with Sophie, the teenager, left him quite upset. He blames himself for not being careful with the medication; since he is sleeping in the office, he brought the tablets to the office bathroom, not realizing the girl would even know what they were, but sadly, she did. Paul explains the incident and how he wanted to call Kate, but she was not there.
Paul focuses on Laura. He has come to the realization he is in love with her. Gina tries to have him come to his senses by telling him it is highly unethical what he is trying to do. Under no circumstances is he to engage in a relationship with a patient. Paul feels resentful toward Gina because of her rejection when his name came under consideration to be the head of the institute. Gina replies she thought he was not ready for it, although she thinks he has developed into a first rate therapist.
Another excellent episode of this interesting series. This chapter was directed by Rodrigo Garcia and the screenplay was written by Davey Holmes. The acting is first rate, as it is every week. Gabriel Byrne is well matched by Dianne Wiest, both make acting seem easy, although that is far from what these two gifted actors went through in performing, we are sure. The program has proved addictive for this viewer. Thanks must be given to the original Israeli team that created the series, now being adapted for American audiences.
