I don't understand some of these reviews. I think it's cute and funny. It is disney not Cinemax. I like Josh Peck. He is a good actor. Hooch is adorable. Sure it has some stuff that is unrealistic but so is 95% of movies and shows these days.

It is what it is. Cute, Funny, Lighthearted, Goofy, Entertaining... The characters grow on you as the show progresses. It is fun for the whole family.
I would definitely recommend for a family show night.

Seriously, it's so good! The amazingly gorgeous, beautiful, sweet, lovable Hooch aside ((yes, I'm biased!), the script is funny, the lead actor a great casting choice, and an all round entertaining show 🙌
Its good fun. Light hearted and no extremes in any direction.
Nice chemistry between actor and dog.
Hope it gets traction.

This remind me of Hudson & Rex but not as good. It could use better scripts and the acting could be better. But it's entertaining.

Yes it's childish but it's Disney. And one of the few shows my whole family can watch and enjoy. And I'm a big man child anyway. I loved it. Something that makes me laugh without all the cussing, dirty mindedness, and what not.

Ok this show is far from perfect but it's hardly horrible! I actually enjoyed watching it even without considering the nostalgia factor. Most people I know would classify it as "cute." Definitely made for a younger audience than the original film was, but all the actors are quite nice-looking and they really are not as bad as some of the reviewers say. I've seen much worse. The transition into the dog acceptance was a bit fast, but it had to be in order to fit it into the 47 minute episode. I did genuinely laugh at some of the Hooch reaction moments and antics, and was rooting for the dog as intended. Go ahead and watch with your family, you won't be disappointed.
This is a Disney series and the writing is targeted to kids. I watched three episodes and it was tough, because Scott (Josh Peck) just makes the same mistakes over and over again and you know Hooch is going to screw up every time. Little kids will love it.
The actors just read the lines they are given and the acting isn't bad, it's the writing but it's not meant for adults. It's Disney so everything turns out ok.
Someone mentioned "Hudson & Rex" a Canadian series filmed in Newfoundland, Canada, about a St John's detective and his German Shephard/Alsation dog Rex, which is written for adults and is better. It's a spin off of the very long running Austrian series "Inspector Rex".

But continued watching because it's a nice clean show for kids and my 9 year old daughter loves it.
By episode 3 or 4 I was totally hooked.
The character development in this series is actually really good.
The acting is great, Hooch is adorable, and the storyline keeps you hooked.
I really look forward to watching the next episode every week. It's a funny, cute, and clean show. Very refreshing.
I hope there is a season 2!

Hooch is adorable, but the series opener, not good, mediocre at best. Doesn't look promising for a series.

I only saw episode 1 of this series, so my review is for it alone.
I liked the T&H movie with Tom Hanks a lot, bot I didn't expect much from a rehash of the movie into a series. The series is quite obviously meant for younger audiences, but that doesn't mean an old geezer like me cannot enjoy it. Yes special effects are on the suspect side, but it's the plot with it's human interactions that matter. The reviewers that complain about such trivial things are missing the point of this episode. It was nice to fill in the missing years after the movie, so we know immediately where we are in the series time and space. I will sum the episode with the words VERY CUTE.
I know that children will love the series, and I'm sure most adults will like too.

Reviewed half way thru first (Maybe only) season.
Being a fan of the original film, and a fan of Josh Peck, I want to like this more.
It's definitely made with parents of children in mind. Kids will want to watch it, because of the silliness of the dog, but there's enough dialogue so parents won't be completely bored. If you're not a parent, watching it for your kids, you might get annoyed with it prett quick.
There's enough going on, that second season could easily be done, but time will tell on the success.
Still, a solid 7.

I look forward to seeing this every week. Its funny, serious and refreshing to watch. The cast is awesome as well. Great story lines and you definitely fall in love with Hooch. Its great for the entire family and for animal lovers. :)
Yeah, like most people I thought the show was cheesy; however, the later episodes became more tolerable, well-written, and even funny. This is a show my daughter looks forward to each week and I'm grateful to have something I can watch with my 11 year-old. There aren't many television shows on the air that can truly be considered family friendly.
We love the characters and their complex and unique relationships. Also, you can't go wrong with teaching children to respect animals...it makes us all better humans.

Just finished watching it and damn it's GOOD lol. Honestly didn't expect it to be this good and enjoyable but it was af
Now come on disney plus- give me that season 2 baby!
I had some high hopes for Turner and Hooch. I thought you didn't need to be serious for a good show, innocent and light could also work if delivered well. However Turner and Hooch is a blend of unrealistic and extremely convenient story lines. Laura, for example, is supposed to be a credible detective and be smarter than her ex husband cop and doesn't get in any trouble.
I know Disney has a reputation for creating a certain brand and type of show/film. However pushing yourself in the corner could lead to an unimpressive show. I feel a more serious show with real villains, real danger but also being a barrel of laughs could have been a hit. For e.g. You could have had Scott as an underdog officer who couldn't get a break until he met Hooch. He could also have a complex and estranged sister. The list and blend of ideas could go on. But instead you had bland and lame characters who are just painful to watch. Complex and unique characters give more meaning to a show, not almost perfect fake ones. Missed opportunity here team.

In the very first episode, you have a dog that catches a sandwich midair during a car chase, a car that somehow flys over a jeep in a car chase and worst of all, a bad CGI fire of a warehouse to boot. What is you get is a predictable, terrible show.

My whole family from my kids to my wife liked the series. The dog in the series did a great job so did the main lead and as the other actors most did well his partner did a outstanding job both funny and as a cop actor.

It's entertaining enough, but why is the main character so unlikeable?
He questions everybody and thinks everybody else is dumb, then he turns out to be clearly wrong and "saves" the day. He's just a winey millennial who thinks he deserves everything without truly working for it. Dude, you have to work through the ranks, stop pouting and do your job.
The 7 is because it really isn't that bad, just got tired of watching Josh Peck complain and ask for handouts.

The show is interesting but definitely not as good as shows like Community, The Office, The Good Place and Brooklyn 99. It isn't that funny and it made no sense that a pregnant lady was in a helicopter. The show would be a lot better if it was targeted for older audiences and had funnier jokes. Even though the show had flaws, it was definitely better than what I expected seeing that it came from Disney.

It's got some charm and basic cop formula . But how childish they make the main characters and just goofy. Show could be a lot better if they weren't trying to target 6year olds. Don't think that's the demographic your going for, so hopefully they aim to be a little more mature during the 2nd season.. main character rolling around in the cake in final 10secs of the season finale is the exact kind of stupidity that ruins the episode.
