We’re halfway there! The Jan. 23 episode of ‘American Idol’ puts us in the fourth round — and the home stretch — of the nationwide auditions of ‘Idol’ hopefuls. See our top five performances of the night and tell us if you’re happy for Neco Starr and his second chance!
The performances we’ve seen from the auditions this season have been truly outstanding, and it’s so refreshing to see them judged by a panel with all of the chemistry and none of the conflict of recent seasons. This hour-long episode was jam-packed with talent, including a group of auditions who had made it through on previous seasons but were sent home early! See below for our top five performances of the night and to see if you recognize anybody from previous seasons! (I’ll give you a hint: one of them is Neco Starr. And he was amazing.)

Chicago – “I been in the blues all my life. I’m still delivering ‘cause I got a long memory,” Muddy Waters once recounted to a reporter. Although the narrative catharsis once offered by the likes of Charlie Patton and Bo Carter may have given way to the stylized pulse of R&B, its placement in America’s ever-ripening counterculture is worth the recollection. And luckily for Chicago, it is a stronghold that is now making a timely wake-up call on the Northlight stage, with enough sweat and sizzle to heat a bass line.

Anyone who begins their American Idol journey with an impression, normally doesn’t last very long. Luckily for Amanda Schechman her Britney Spears act for Ryan Seacrest didn’t ruin her AI chances.
Amanda sang ‘Good Morning Heartache’ for the judges. A theater major, the judges worried she might be too much of an “actress,” Victoria Beckham warned her to work on her expression, while Kara told her to focus on her connection but they all sent her through to Hollywood.

To the relief of anyone who's a true fan, Wednesday night's "American Idol" brought an end to the audition rounds, the traditional home of costumed jokers, cracked-voice clowns, delusional dingbats and the occasional kewpie-doll ringer and blue-eyed crooner with a broken heart of gold.
The clip show brought together a variety of the best of this year's wannabes, from raspy-voiced Lee DeWyze of Illinois, a paint store clerk who sang a sandpaper cover of Bill Withers' classic soul tune "Ain't No Sunshine," to dreadlocked hippie chick Crystal Bowersox, a 23-year-old musician mom who went with the rocker girl classic "Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin.

Stumped for what to buy your friends and family this year? Forget the socks and chocs and bubble bath – our critics have chosen 40 of the best music, film and TV box sets

1 The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set (Parlophone)
At £145, the Beatles box set probably costs roughly what a small car did in the early 1960s. But the startling detail on these CDs will repay the outlay for Beatles nerds and mere mortals alike. Its sister release, The Beatles in Mono – 1960s scooter prices, at a guess – is even more desirable, audiophiles reckon.
2 Kraftwerk The Catalogue (Mute/Emi)
Eight albums by the electronic Beatles, dating from 1974's Autobahn, all gleamingly remastered. Costing considerably less than one of Ralf Hütter's beloved bicycles, this is the master text of most electronic genres – electro, techno, even hip-hop – today.

Are there elements that are autobiographical? What was Giovanna Mori's role in the writing process and finally, how did this become a story you wanted to tell?Riprendimi is about a separation and it has some autobiographical elements but as I was writing I realized that they were pretty universal. Now the most eccentric or absurd moments of the films are the ones I adapted from my personal life while the most "normal" were invented but belong
