All the awkwardness in a nutshell

Okay, this is one of my favorite episodes from The Guild, not just from season one, maybe the best season of them all, definitely better than the latter seasons, but from the entire series. Definitely a contender for my most favorite episode from the entire thing even. It is the crucial moment in which all guild warriors finally meet in real life for the first time. Felicia Day's protagonist character already met one of them before this episode and this resulted in some fun quotes that delivered on the awkward scale when we realize the Indian dude took pictures of her while she was asleep and sent them to the other "warriors". So there are in total three new characters in here, the likeable chubby mom who does not have a lot of comedic potential, but is just too normal for that maybe, even if her scalp quote was kinda funny, the somewhat bald guy, who is a bit older and in a way in his own universe, and the pretty Asian girl who does not want to be associated with the other nerds initially. That was funny too, also towards the end when she joins the others, but still does not give them her real name. All about the comedy really, even if she appears a bit hostile, so yes this was a very entertaining five minutes (or minimally over) indeed. It also ends on a really high note when the characters manage to connect eventually after a moment of awkward silence and the way they connect is through something that happened in the video game of course. This episode here is now more than fifteen years old and Day (and the rest) have moved on to other projects in the decade since the show ended, but I think I enjoyed it about as much as I did when I watched the episode for the first time over a decade ago, probably more. It is close to a must-see and well you can watch an entire season in under an hour, so I would say watch the full first season, but if you are only in for a very short form of entertainment, this episode also succeeds as a standalone work. Highly recommended.
