It's so bad but so fun to watch
elmagwinab27 January 2021
My little brother adored this show as a little kid, probably eight years old and completely dino obsessed, and years later in isolation induced nostalgia he asked to rewatch it with me (I didn't really watch it with him before).

The writing is awful, the science is worse, the characterization is inconsistent to the extreme, and it's clearly propaganda (though at least it's goal is a positive one), but in a house where very dumb show or movie becomes Mystery Science Theater: Home Edition, watching it was an absolute blast. And you know what, they may play the theme song half a dozen times in every episode, but it's still a darn good theme song, I won't lie.

A Mixed Bag Of Action And Eviromental Awareness
jeremycrimsonfox25 November 2021
One of two final shows made by DiC before they were bought out by Cookie Jar (with their shows owned today by Wildbrain), Dino Squad is about five teens whose DNA gets altered when they save a dog from drowning, as the water got contaminated with primordial ooze dumped by Victor Veloci, the head of Raptor Dyne who is secretly a velociraptor who survived the event that made the dinosaurs extincy and iscapable of taking human form who plots to revert the planet back to the stone age. Because of this, the five teens, Max, Caruso, Fiona, Rodger, and Buzz soon find they can transform into dinosaurs. Assisted by their science teacher Ms. Moynihan, who is also a velociraptor, the teens for the DIno Squad in order to stop Veloci's plot,

Basically, this series is an attempt at recreating the action cartoons of the 80's and 90's. The show feels like it could have a toyline with all the characters and vehicles, and the show is basically like Captain Planet, as it also tries to educate about dangers to the environment like pollution (Victor Velosi can be seen as the show's Looten Plunder) and even goes as far as to have an animal mascot. However, the show is also a mixed bag, as the writing is hit or miss and the whole idea sound hokey.

Let's just say it look better on paper
Terryfan4 September 2016
As for my summary title that's exactly how I feel about Dino Squad it's just one of those things that look better on paper.

The idea of having five teenagers turn into Dinosaurs where have I seen this idea before? Let me think for a minute.

Oh Yes this feels like nothing short of a rip off of "Power Rangers" "Captain Planet" and others. I mean how did this thing ever get animated?

I mean this show is just beyond interesting or worth the time for a review but I figure sooner or later I have to review it so might as well get it over with.

The theme song oh! Now I have heard a good fair share of bad theme songs but this one takes the cake it is so asinine that I would rather listen to a dog bark for hours before listening to this theme song that would be a huge red flag for this show.

The animation in this is barely even worth matching it just feels like a mess through the entire show I normally try not to pick on artists for hand drawn animation but this one has no depth whatsoever.

The Voice acting wasn't even worthy of video games because it was that unlikable. It just seem the cast known how lame this show was gonna be

The Writing I can't even begin to feel in the blanks on how dreadful it is, I could have wrote a better story than this.

Just do yourself a favor and stay away from Dino Squad

Bad writing, bad animation, bad science.
theeclipse-210 October 2009
This is probably one of the worst shows I have seen in a long time. Everything about it is just bad. The five teens in the show are supposed to be geniuses, yet the science that their ideas are based off of was obviously thought up by a high school dropout that got a D+ in every science class he ever took. It's a little on the pathetic side at time, the characters sling around words that were obviously included because they sound big and "sciencey", yet it's obvious that the writers didn't have the slightest clue what the words meant.

Other than that, the show doesn't offer much more than the standard fare of feel-good pseudo-environmentalism that seems to choke kids programming lately. It feels a lot like Bruce Smith and Al Gore got really drunk one night and decided to make a crappy cartoon together. The writing is horrible, the animation is worse, and the science brings it all together into a very nice hat trick.

My Kids Love This!
cherylelshaer3 December 2009
First of all, it is a cartoon, for an adult to say that the writing is not scientific enough is just absurd. My kids are 3 and 4 years old. They love it. The music is catchy and the plots have a good message in each one. It is actually one of the few cartoons that I can actually stand, very un-Dora. There is a lot of action and different characters then you normally see in a cartoon. It is written for kids, to be watched by kids. I also have a 5 year old nephew and a 10 year old nephew who love them also. There are 3 of these DVD's with one more to come out in March 2010. It is obviously completely pretend and that is the fun of it!

Great show!

Warning: Spoilers
Dino squad is a great show in my opinion. Very simple design and simple concept. I've read the other reviews and they're going to deep into the idea. This is a kids show and shouldn't be harshly reviewed for lore. I like the simple concept they had. 5 quirky teenagers infected with radioactive fluid effecting their DNA changing themself into dinosaurs. All the stories that this show offers are great, going from shark infected dinosaurs to puppy dinosaurs. This is a great show and I truly recommend it to KIDS and grown adults who don't have a life and judge nostalgic shows based off of how CHILDISH they are.
