Two thumbs down.....way down.

Warning: Spoilers
What can I say about this film that some of the posts prior have not stated? It is not only an insult to the audience it's a complete waste of metaphysical time. We are expected to believe someone who gets his eye dislocated into his socket and stabbed (as if the head is a cantaloupe) can consciously run away? Someone who masturbates in his own home...cant whip it out of his jeans. Nothing was believable in this movie. The stale and brutally bland performance of the all main actors. There was nothing artsy about the film going black and white as if a little kid is playing with the lights. The light changes and poor lighting lead me to suggest to the Movies boards that a sticker be placed on this film that reads: "warning may cause epilepsy or post traumatic syndrome". The detectives were the topping…they interrogate a suspect at his house? More than a boat load of evidence to be circumstantial but let him go 'cause his brother is a cop? Do we John H Moviegoer and Jane Doe Moviewatcher have down-syndrome Mr. Director in your eyes? What ever your day job is....God stick to it. And if this is your day job then get a night job. Sequels are normally worse than the original. I don't know how he will top this but I'm sure he can.

This suspenseful thriller, but due its disgusting performance is a horror film, is a miss.

A feeble film that fails to make the grade
horrificstyle549 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I had the privilege or should I say the unfortunate circumstance of losing about 2 hours of my life watching this film. I stumbled upon this from an associate of mine who had a DVD copy. He suggested I take a look. On one of my frequent business trips where I tend to pass my time watching films I popped this baby in. I am a big fan of independent films and try to watch as many as I can. After cringing through this film I might move back to mainstream flicks.

What is Am I Evil? A film with a bunch of really bad actors.

I hated this movie.

Pure and simple in it's entirety I really hated this movie.

As far as the content (Where do I begin?) it's actually very difficult for me to put together a worthwhile review. I keep seeing these disturbing images of the film in my mind. There is a severe lack of substance and story in this film. The director places a hard focus on showcasing the dark and gloomy world of serial killer Andrew Lakewood. Andrew Lakewood is supposed to be your regular guy who is secretly killing many beautiful women in the small town of Jamestown. Now this guy has NO personality, there is no on screen charisma that empowers you to join in on his hunt for prey. It is so hard to comprehend his own motives that it actually makes you question your own intelligence. It is very HARD to follow this story, it is apparent that it was not well written. Basic story structure is missing here as there is no real challenge to Andrew Lakewood as he roams free throughout the town. There is no pursuit by law enforcement. They are in the film but in limited nature.

Lots of blood with nothing else. The creepy thing is that this film might of been written by people with some personal issues.

But enough about what I didn't like about this movie. Let's talk about what I did like.

...

Um...

...

The direction was interesting. Whatever kind of crack that the director was smoking made for some artsy camera angles though the lighting was really bad.

How many times have you been watching a Spielberg movie and said to yourself, "Sure, this angle is all fine and good, but I wonder how that oscillating fan in the corner sees this scene through its own eyes?" or "I wonder what a serial killer's attack looks like from inside of the victims's mouth?" or "I wish somebody would finally shoot a scene of somebody talking on the phone straight up through the coil of the cord." This is the only DVD that I've disliked so much that I wrote a warning on the DVD case before I returned it to my friend. I really did. That's not a joke. Funny thing it won an award at the Rhode Island film festival, must be nepotism.

I can say with absolute certainty and conviction that Am I Evil is the worst movie that I've ever seen in my entire life, and I'm willing to put that into my legal testimony if anyone out there is organizing a class action lawsuit against director Richard Terassi for brain damage attributed from this film.

I swear to God, halfway through you're yearning to undergo surgery than to finish this film.

This movie should not and can not be watched for entertainment or enjoyment.

It should be used only by professionals for the purpose for which it was obviously created: brutal interrogation.

I hated this movie.

"Am I Evil" Is One Serial Killer Movie Worth Watching!
liveeffex15 February 2009
First off... Ignore the two clowns below, because obviously they are not at all a fan of horror films! If people can't stomach horror films, then why bother watching??? Then they feel a need to bash the genre just because they hate horror films! Well, enough of these two retards! "Am I Evil" is definitely one of the best indie horror films I've seen! The director lets us inside the mind of the serial and takes you on a relentless ride from beginning to end as to what goes on in the mind of serial killer and why he has the urge to kill! Mark Vazquez gives a strong performance as the serial killer Andrew Lakewood as well as Deanna Sidotti who plays Lisa, Andrews girlfriend.

Andrews fantasies grow real as he preys on women to satisfy his sexual urge of killing them. Andrew is a cross between Ted Bundy & Jeffery Dahmer, as he gets off on torture, death, necrophilia & cannibalism! The story is strong and solid and Director Richard Terrasi proves to be a force in the genre! The film is gory and the sfx are realistic and amazing! "Am I Evil" also has a great music score that is disturbing just as the film! "Am I Evil" makes "Murder-Set-Pieces" look like crap!

If you like films such as: "Maniac", "American Psycho", and "Henry"... "Am I Evil" does justice over them, and thats saying a lot! So, if you love horror, you definitely won't go wrong with this one! See it!

Grade Z all the way, the little film that couldn't!!
guzmanadriana47 December 2008
I had gotten my job at an internship at twitch film working for Pioneer Theater for a number of years, and I see small indie horror films come and go. Some get bought by investors others go in post production limbo (Scar 3d, The Devils Chair). When I see that local filmmakers screen at pioneer, I usually stick around for a screening or two . Working as an intern you see how bloody, gory horror films get picked up fast in the market because are cheap to produce and easy to buy., and 75 percent are really shyty movies. Am I evil is one of these films, pure tripe with no substance. The formula to successful horror films is a good story, and good dialogue, Am I evil had the gore but ultimately falls flat with horrendous acting, bad lighting, and a really weak and non existing story, without this formula, you get a really bad horror film. Despite descent gore effects, and soundtrack, It Makes you wonder if the director is a misogynist, or a sex offender, I would skip it!!

recommended The Zombie Diaries, Splinter, Mulberry Street
