In 2020, while the pandemic dominated headlines, entertainment news brought a bit of sunshine as the coveted star of such classic comedies as Ghostbusters, Spaceballs, and Little Shop of Horrors, Rick Moranis, was set to make his return to acting after taking an extended break from his career to spend time raising his children after his wife passed. One of the most beloved family movies that Moranis also iconically starred in is the 1989 Disney film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, which was brought to life by Jumanji director Joe Johnston. Along with Moranis’ return came the return of that nostalgic property as Disney announced a legacy sequel titled Shrunk.
Shrunk was to star Rick Moranis and Josh Gad, along with Johnston returning to direct. Since its announcement, however, not much has been heard about the project. The movie would, unfortunately, get delayed a number of times due to several factors. According to Deadline,...

Josh Gad offered an update on the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids reboot, Shrunk, in which he was set to co-star alongside original franchise star Rick Moranis.
“A lot of u ask me what’s going on with this film,” the Beauty and the Beast actor wrote on Twitter. “Truth is, we were inches from starting and then Covid hit, inches from starting again & then my schedule exploded with conflicts, inches from starting again & budget got the best of us.”
He suggested if people want to see the reboot come to life, they should reach out to Disney and let the company know they’re interested in it. Gad also shared an unofficial poster for the film.
Shrunk would have served as a continuation of the original franchise, which included 1989’s Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, 1992 sequel Honey, I Blew Up the Kid and 1997’s straight-to-dvd follow-up Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.

In March 1993, Doctor Who had been off-air for over three years. Paul McGann wouldn’t become the Doctor for another three, and it would be a further nine until Christopher Eccleston’s first appearance in the Tardis. The fans though, were keeping the show alive – fans such as Gavin Fuller, who chose it as his specialist subject in BBC One quiz Mastermind.
Fuller scored an impressive 16 points in his two minutes on Doctor Who, and increased that to a total of 29 after the General Knowledge round. He won the episode and went on to become the 1993 series champion, answering questions on the Crusades and the Medieval Castle in the British Isles as his two other specialist subjects.

For nine months, George Clooney’s go-to production designer, James Bissell, was immersed in the end of the world for their apocalyptic film, “The Midnight Sky.” And Clooney — who knows a thing or two about sci-fi with “Gravity” and “Solaris” — wanted the visual language of their spacecraft (The Aether) to be unique yet plausible. So Bissell did his NASA research and studied where they’re headed with future designs for spacecraft.
“It was that interesting design problem of getting things that felt like they could fit in the next 30 years, but, at the same time, contained dramatic imagery that reflected the characters,” said Bissell. Clooney plays a scientist who isolates himself at The Barbeau Arctic observatory to warn active crewed space missions returning home of the global disaster on earth. He makes contact with Felicity Jones, the pregnant mission specialist of The Aether, which has just finished exploring Jupiter’s...

In news that also doubled as 2020 in microcosm, Rick Moranis found himself back in the headlines for the first time in a long time when he made a surprise cameo in a commercial for Ryan Reynolds’ Mint Mobile service, leading to the internet labeling his return to the screen as one of the few highlights of an otherwise awful year, only for the news to break just a few weeks later that the 67 year-old had been the victim of an unprovoked attack while out walking near his New York City home.
Reynolds almost immediately sent his condolences for subjecting the Ghostbusters and Spaceballs star to 2020, while the NYPD issued footage of the assault and offered a $2500 reward for any information that would help them identify and apprehend the suspect. The incident, which took place on Thursday, saw the Ghostbusters actor on the receiving end of an unprovoked assault by an unknown assailant who punched him in the head. Thankfully, Moranis appears to have made a full recovery and is back on his feet.
His reps issued a statement to Deadline today to offer an update, saying that Moranis is “fine but grateful for everyone’s thoughts and well wishes.” Though the incident itself is saddening, it’s heartening that the internet has been full of kindness towards the Spaceballs star, showing just how popular he still is, despite retiring from high-profile roles back in the 90s to focus on his family.

As the coronavirus crisis continues to take lives around the world, there is no time table yet for when production on big budget Marvel movies will start up, but blockbuster still belong in cinemas, Disney’s CEO declared today – at least for now.

In this follow up to the excellent The Outer Worlds, players assume the role of a tiny human who has shrunk to roughly the “size of an ant” and must now survive the perils of your average backyard. Yes, that means that it’s essentially Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, the video game. Rather than ape the plot of that film, players in Grounded will participate in pre-determined narrative adventures alongside player-driven content.
Gameplay will primarily consist of building bases, scrounging for resources, and combating various hostile elements, but it’s not entirely clear how all of these elements will come together. For instance, the PvE vs. PvP ratio hasn’t been firmly established at this time. It’s not entirely clear if there will be a PvP component or any other multiplayer options outside of...

The Walt Disney Company has opted to suspend production on all films, be they shooting across the Atlantic Ocean or simply in pre-production in California. The delay comes on the heels of international upheaval in the film industry during the escalating coronavirus pandemic.
Among the biggest delays is director Rob Marshall’s highly anticipated remake of The Little Mermaid. The film, which was apparently nine days away from filming, stars Halle Bailey as one of Disney’s most popular princesses, the aquatic Ariel, as well as Melissa McCarthy as the dastardly Ursula the Sea Witch. The movie was set to begin shooting in England later this month and is still expected to shoot there, although with no public date in mind.

A week ago, Rick Moranis’ chances of returning for Shrunk, Disney’s new Honey, I Shrunk the Kids project, seemed dead in the water. After several days of rumors and gossip that Moranis would be reprising the role of Wayne Szalinski, the Mouse House stepped in. The studio said they had “no knowledge” of any talks with Moranis or his involvement in the project and that, coupled with the actor’s decades-long hiatus from live-action films, seemed to be that.
But it turns out Disney was being rather economical with the truth, as we learned yesterday that Moranis is indeed officially appearing in Shrunk. The film will follow his character’s son, who tries to follow in his father’s footsteps and ends up involved in yet more shrink ray-induced shenanigans. Canadian actor and comic who took time off from films will appear with Josh Gad in the comedy Shrunk
Rick Moranis, the Canadian actor and comic who made a high-profile screen career in the 1980s and 90s playing bespectacled nerds in a string of films such as Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors and Spaceballs, is to return to the screen after a 23-year break after agreeing to act in a reboot of the science-fiction comedy Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
Moranis began to wind down his film acting career after the death of his wife, costume designer Ann Belsky, from breast cancer in 1991. His last credit was in 1997, with the third in the Shrunk series, the straight-to-video Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.

Moranis played scientist Wayne Szalinski in the 1989 Disney classic and its 1992 sequel Honey, I Blew Up the Kid. He also appeared as Wayne in 1997’s direct-to-video sequel Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.
