"Yoda Baby: a Very Merry Mandalorian Christmas" is a really long title for this live action short film from late November 2019 because it does not even run 4 minutes like it says here on imdb, but only 2 minutes and 40 seconds. The director is Connor Marsico and the one and only actor in here (if we don't count recycled material) is Paul Vogt, who is also a co-writer and who uploaded the film on Youtube. There it has not even scored 2,000 views since now and as it features the words Yoda and Mandalorian and Christmas in the title, this is a major disappointment. With better quality, it really could have gone through the roof into 7-digit territory. But not always a film can turn into a Youtube blockbuster despite lack of quality only because it fits the occasion. And that is a good thin for this one here. There is nothing to it in terms of creativity. The sets decorated as branches from conifers feels as soulless as the protagonist's Christmas outfit. Nothing to say about the scenes taken from The Mandalorian. They are not original, i.e. they do not have anything to do with this film's quality here. I would even say the editing feels pretty shoddy there. And the comedy is barely there and when you feel they ere going for it, then it turns into scenes/moments like the one when he wants to drink something, but can't and the liquid all pours to the ground. The singer is not talented and I am fully aware trhat range was nothing they were going for here, but it still can be said. Entertainment value was what they had in mind and they did really come completely short there (if they even got started). Still Vogt is a prolific actor, surprised to see him on board here. But yeah it is his only writing credit (according to imdb) and it shows. The other writer Toscas has not written a script in over a decade (according to imdb) and director Marsico has not been in charge of a movie either for almost a decade (according to imdb). So the outcome is fully expected. It's a mess and the only positive thing is how quickly it is over. Massive thumbs-down. Not even worth checking out for the very biggest Star Wars fan.
