Good film!

I had heard about this film, so I had lot of expectations from this one. Though the film starts off a bit Napoleon Dynamite-ish, later it delves into Memento territory (or 50 First Dates to be precise) of memory lapse.

Without giving the story away, I would like to say that if you like living your dream, coming-of-age/high school films you'll like this - but Gachi Boy is much more than that! The wrestling sequences, the "fight-amins", the camaraderie between the characters is great. And so is the song during the end titles! Awesome performances by everyone! Highly recommended!

A memorable sports comedy

Warning: Spoilers
I don't like wrestling, and Satou Ryuuta, in my opinion, is one of the worst Japanese actors I've seen, so I started watching this film with skepticism.

I was quickly proved wrong as I found myself laughing through the entire movie. Satou Ryuuta actually fit the role very well, and all the characters were really interesting.

The story reminded me of Adam Sandler's "50 First Dates", but had a really nice flow and was original in its own way. Direction and music were done very well, and it wasn't cheesy like typical sports comedy where guy gets girl and somehow wins despite incredible odds.

A surprisingly fun and inspirational film, definitely worth a try.
