And conclude that this is a film completely without cristmas spirits, its full of universal personal issues , that it seems that everyone has to deal with some time in life, and the deep discussions feel so daft and pretty fatigued on emotions that the GOM almost fell of the wagon.

its a newbies try, there arent many flaws or actor errors, the story is just boring.so if your hi on xmas spirit, stay away from this, itll make you depressed

Is this a student film?

When they sent someone out to buy more alcohol before the party even started it's a metaphor for how unprepared everyone involved in this film was. I think I counted about 15 people so it's not really a party, more a get together. Cliches of actors huffing & puffing to show 'emotion'. Someone vomits on a woman's top (spoiler) & no one offers her another, even though she's at her boyfriend's apartment so she leaves? It's so obvious that this film has male writers considering how one dimensional & problematic the female characters are & the only ones who's problems are 'real' are the guys. The budget didn't stretch for stedicams so emotional scenes leave you with motion sickness. Charlie should just put the paper towels down & come out... he's fooling no one. Caroline was the only character played by an actor who was convincing . The cameraman is obsessed with that brick wall. Worst pep talk ever. The do better scene is just ludicrous. I think the only person who had fun in this film was Manny.

The Room quality bad...

Only thing missing is Tommy and a football. Creakiest floors in the history of film. Shakiest still shots too. Good for an eye rolling laugh or two.

Two stars for the students

I got no words.. Lack of quality on all stages, absurd scenes and moments. He got out to get painkillers for his stomach in the middle of the night after this traumatic party. I recommend every one too see this movie, the next one after this might be the best film of your life.

So many sories to tell in one night
cbisbee-7399517 November 2020
A Christmas party. Three couples about to be separated for semester break. Three different angles to the same party and events that transpire over the evening. Lots of emotions shared, bared and talked about during the same evening. if you are looking for happy endings or happy, jolly Christmas fare then I would avoid this. If you like movies with raw emotions and ambiguity then you will probably like this film.

Refreshing and original - two thumbs up!

I really enjoyed this film - a first time feature-length film from the director. Excellent casting (Charlie, Caroline, and Jun in particular), soundtrack, and filming. It pulled me in and connected me with the characters from the start, and the non-linear film approach to the scenes gave the characters and storyline depth and interest. Well done!

Good idea

Director: Julian Carlo Santos and Writers: Kevin Nittolo, Julian Carlo Santos have offered up a movie who's plot is greater than the sum of its parts.

The setting is one Christmas party in which something happens early on. Then the story is divided into three parts with each part giving the viewer a closer look at whats happening behind the main scene at this party! As the saying goes - still waters run deep!

I enjoyed this movie but found the characterizations of the party participants to be a bit unbelievable. And two of the main characters are way too obvious to be "just friends".

Has some moments

Just a typical party set around Christmas time. This is very dialog driven and sometimes very entertaining but other times making you wonder whats going on. I think the ending saved.

Twice in 2 days

This film took me by surprise. It draws one into the worlds of the 6 main characters and their intertwining stories. Not really sure what it was about it that captivated me, I watched it again the following day. The humour and complexities became more evident on a second viewing. Many of the characters were charming despite their flaws. This was rendered possible by some wonderful performances and clever direction. I found myself interested in their approaches to decisions whilst sometimes laughing and genuinely moved, especially by certain scenes in which so much is conveyed by what is left unsaid.

Pleasantly surprised
Pudnats22 November 2020
If you want a cheery, feel good, Christmas movie then this is not for you. If you are open-minded and willing to sit back without prejudice and enjoy a film then you could be pleasantly surprised. Watching people flirting with indecision as they are about to embark on the next stage of life brought back memories. This was both funny and poignant.

An Indie classic?
Htrib22 November 2020
I loved this film. On the surface, it explores the relationships of 3 couples nearing the end of their college years in New York. The intelligent script and fantastic acting however add more layers to the issues. With that comes ambiguity, humour and emotional engagement. This is proof that small budget films can charm and entertain.

Engaging, original and surprisingly emotional
tolaez19 November 2020
"The Last Christmas Party" is a thoroughly engaging and surprisingly emotional portrayal of imminently graduating university students negotiating the complexities of the impending changes in their lives. The film addresses this primarily through the relationships of three couples. The interweaving collage of youth flirting with commitment is brilliantly acted. Their issues are explored in such a believable manner that I found myself increasingly emotionally involved in the various plots. The direction, editing and pacing of the film ensures that a measure of frivolity does not detract from the existential dilemmas of characters floundering on the edge of responsibility to others and themselves. The issues are brilliantly enhanced by some subtle understatement. For example, Jun's forthrightness is refined by shades of emotions that suggest a warm persona whilst Ed's nuanced performance is punctuated with laughter on two occasions that hints at perspectives that are not openly articulated. The mood and texture of the film is augmented by brilliant use of original music.

Very refreshing

Really enjoyed it and appreciated that it wasn't a typical light-fluffy Christmas flick. The relationships were complex, and the soundtrack and cast were first rate. Definitely recommend

Can a night really hold so much?
zhihao_12314 January 2021
Watch this film if you miss all those endless overnight parties that we took for granted pre-pandemic, those chilly winter nights spent tripping over champagne glasses and broken bottles and all the life in the world seems to only exist within the confines of your college bedroom.

It reminded me of the night I spent before graduation fighting my eyelids as though tomorrow wouldn't come and I wouldn't have to graduate if I didn't go to bed.

Props to the editor for deftly juggling 6 major characters and keeping the timeline of the night clear despite the looping and winding narrative.

Great City Romance Movie
JC34028 February 2021
I absolutely love this film! It's so cool how it showcases different peoples stories and how all of the love triangles weave together so seamlessly. I love how each couples story is broken up into its own act. That was so clever! I also love how there is so much humanity to each couples situation. I particularly love the 'farewells' chapter! The film is so fast paced and captivating. The characters are interesting too and relatable. This could totally be turned into a tv series. I'm really excited to see what else this director comes out with!
