Good Acting but so dumb... here's why
ala-4947815 August 2021
I have a 19 yo and a 22 yo and I cannot imagine them or any of their friends being this stupid. I mean really!!! He did nothing useful to try and get off the road... why wouldn't you even tell your brother where you are? A friend?? You don't immediately try to use something for traction under the tires?? Is a party that important your life is worth giving??

His dumb friends talking about Coachella with him while he's stuck on an abandoned road in the snow?? Good friends ! A mom who seems so concerned but doesn't even think to track his phone location?

Then he's stuck all jacked up looking at photos??? I mean your text works still .. text someone ! Call the operator or pin someone help!!! No just waste battery!!

If there are people out there this dumb then sorry you may deserve to stay stuck!

Fun winter tale
Spellbound8811 November 2020
Wireless was actually not bad at all. It was quite an interesting show and I'm glad I stumbled upon it. It does have a few flaws and the ending can seem less than satisfactory, but all in all, it was a lot of fun. Plus, the scenery and frozen mountains are gorgeous to look at. A wintery fun, short, tale.

Terrible show.

Warning: Spoilers
Some young man lacks common sense and almost dies in the snow after drinking and driving, texting and driving, and talking on the phone whilst driving. Watched about 20 minutes and had to turn it off. Who cares really, his death would have benefited society.

Was definitely worth the watch!
halbian12 November 2020
Yeah the guy makes some dumb decisions (it's not as bad as some reviewers say though), but it's all for the betterment of the story. Also there is a nice twist in the middle of the story that explains his poor choices.

I was very entertained throughout the movie and the ending was great. The worst part about this series is that it is not a movie but instead split up into 10x 8 minute pieces. Whyyy? 8 minutes doesn't make any sense. They should have made it a 1 hour 20 minute movie.

Other than that, go watch it! It's really good!

Concept Cool; Non-Believable Stupid Character
actaction12 March 2022
I get that there is a suspension of disbelief, grace you give a writer because the character needs to get into a jam and smart people it's harder to write getting into that situation. However, at a point you have to wonder if the motivation for the character is there for them not to take the easy route out (calling for help), which for most would have been only episode 02 and a broken foot. They shouldn't have did this at this early point. Even if he would get in trouble, even if he is a dumb kid, he wouldn't keep lying.

Some people just aren't getting it
MovieLuver36523 August 2021
Although there are some very valid points in the negative reviews here, (enough to give me a good chuckle or two), I think they are missing some of the good aspects of this series.

I think the show is the first really successful effort at combining modern technology (phone, internet, computer, etc.) with a dramatic telling of a story with a moral (something they have been trying to do since the '80's).

Most of us have watched a million survival stories. Man against nature stories, Man against himself stories, (Man against his parents stories?), so of course we were all sitting back saying "Don't do that! That's stupid! Why are you doing that?" but it seems the show tried to incorporate every possibility of what any modern teenager could possibly mess up in this situation. Along the way there were several good lessons of what NOT to do, like how NOT to live your life, have relationships and get to a New Year's Eve party with your friends during a snowstorm.

Bottom line, this kid was messed up. His dad dying within the past year, he was not at all ready for the role of "head male of the household",especially while dealing with his own grief. Bright spot - during the ordeal he came to terms with more than a few important problems that were going on in his life and how to change it for the better. Kudos to you Kid! "Everything Happens For a Reason". ;)

Tye Sheridan gives an outstanding performance in an almost one man show. Can't say enough good things about him.

The only complaint I have regarding the 8 minute episodes is that it gave Roku ample opportunity to bombard with commercials. At 2-3 commercials between each episode I watched a total of 20-25 commercials just to see a 120 minute "movie". Not sure it was THAT good, but it was good. Innovative and thought provoking. I really liked it.

I watched piece of the first episode . Guy is in the middle of nowhere and freezing, and decided to call some girl on his phone using his last bar of power instead of calling for help , seriously . Maybe this series would be more attractive to people with lesser intelligence , its is to dumb for me to continue watching.

Story of a really dumb guy running his battery down using Tinder while trapped in a jeep and drinking alcohol. All the while he is crying about his life and trying to get "rescued".

What a cringefest. Wow!

4.5 Stars out of 5 Stars

The most innovative experience I've had since 'Black Mirrors Bandersnatch', (although Bandersnatch is significantly better). It's also the only serial on Quibi I didn't watch screen casted to my tv. If this ever gets rereleased, DO NOT SCREEN CAST THIS SERIAL. You must watch this on your phone. By far the best thing I've seen using my phone. The story isn't exactly original, but this concept of switching from seeing his phone to actual camera angles depending on if you have your phone vertical or horizontal was awesome!

Edit: So apparently it's on the Roku Channel now, but idk how it works on there. Hopefully if you watch it on your phone, you can still use the innovative camera angle gimmick. If you can, I definitely recommend watching it like that. Watching it on the tv, idk how that would work.

Anything chosen to do instead of watching this would be time Monumentally better decision.
matttalks26 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is just another example of the deterioration of pretty much all things being shown on tv. I watch a lot of media and I'd say 8.5 times out of 10 the writing is just terrible. This is not one of those that has good quality. The characters are only believable if you think people are very stupid generally, which, with our current state of affairs in America that argument could justifiably be made but this I'm not a slice of life here. This is supposed to be an entertaining escape from reality that lasts about an hour and a half. The main character is cyber-stalking his ex while driving on a mountain. I understand talking and texting while driving but past that is kind of ridiculous. But so he then tries to take a shortcut bc his route was closed only to find another closed back road on a mountain in the middle of nowhere. While all this was going on he decided to edit his bio info on tinder and make a go at looking for love, again, all while driving. He does all of this and manages to connect to someone in about 3 minutes. But so he has to turn around bc his road is closed so he can get back to civilization. So he decides to begin this conversation with his tinder match all while doing this. So he's on a back road on a mountain in the middle of nowhere and he begins texting and driving which if you've ever done this then you'd know that you're not going to be just staring at the screen. You hit a few keys and then look up at the road. And you continue to do this. Not our "hero" here though thanks to the thankless efforts of these amazing new talents that brought you this waste of money. He's literally staring at his phone and waiting for a response as he manages to drive off the road. None of the choices by the characters are really believable at all. None of the characters are likable at all. The story is not a bad idea but coming up with the idea for a story is probably the easiest part about creating a tv show or film. After that, it seems to me that the writers just did not put any effort in to this. It bothers me when you see garbage like this on tv bc to me it feels like the writers believe the audience is almost completely brainless and that they will watch it and enjoy it simply bc it is on tv. Any writer who takes pride in their work would never put something out there like this that is so lazily put together and so poorly written. I can't say enough about how poorly this is written and how the only justice that could come out of is would be if the writers were blacklisted from the film industry and never got another job writing. Some people make the wrong careers choices and these people clearly did just that.

Complete garbage
sevalgunes3 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
No wonder Quibi went out of business. This is a story about a brainless Millennial, an old beaten-up 1986 Ford Bronco (worth $500 but very valuable to his dead dad), his mother calling about a missing bottle of Tequila... I hoped for the idiot to die. I am glad there won't be any more Quibi trash wasting people's time and aggravating them.

These reviews are baffling me
stephanie-young1013725 August 2021
I'm BAFFLED by the people reviewing this because it seems nobody has a braincell to understand what this show is actually about. Yes, the main plot is about a kid who is stranded with only his phone, hoping to survive the night. Clearly the show is a focus on alcoholism, its symptoms (deception, impaired thinking, etc) and the struggle for the main character to come to terms with his condition. This show is a lot deeper than these reviewers are making it out to be. It handled alcoholism very maturely and it made for a fast paced and intriguing show as well.

Unsure who the audience is supposed to be
Xavier_Stone29 November 2020
Definitely not anyone over 22 as these people have already experienced enough of life to know what logical choices are, and preparing for a road trip. Maybe it's teens and trying to use this movie as a warning not to text and drive. Good on the directors then, don't drink and drive and maybe don't instragram instead of calling for help.

I do think Quibi is a great app for new actors and directors to try new stories and see what works. Most of them don't and are 1-3 star events. The minor leagues exist for a reason and this one is near the bottom of that.

Cautionary tale for the cellphone obsessed ...
lhw4815 August 2021
Time and again Andy fails to recognize the life threatening situation the phone helps ensnare him in.

He wastes hours draining its battery on anything and everything that won't matter one whit if he's dead in the morning.

Only as time runs out does he realize how dire his situation is.

Good concept, dumb characters
goldprince155910 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love movies/shows like this where the hero is stranded and needs to find a way out. However, the main character in this makes so many stupid decisions that it makes it unbelievable.

The show starts with our protagonist, Andy (played by Tye Sheridan), driving from the mountains in Colorado to a friend's New Year's Eve party. However, a big snow storm is approaching and they've closed all the main roads so the drive will now take over 9 hours according to Google Maps. Andy decides he needs to get to this party so he finds a shortcut on some backroads. This is where the stupidity really starts:

1. Most of the time while Andy is driving, he is texting, Facetiming, on his ex's Instagram, on Tinder, etc. I don't think I saw him look out his windshield once while driving. He even sets a reminder for himself to stop texting and driving. You need to set a reminder to stop doing that?

2. His shortcut doesn't pan out as he drives for a ways only to realize the backroads are closed.

2. His distracted driving leads him to spin off the road and his car gets stuck in the middle of nowhere. He makes no attempt to get his car unstuck. Luckily he has cell service and he calls AAA, but when he hears there's a high queue, he just hangs up.

3. He calls his friend to come pick him up which makes absolutely no sense. All the roads are closed so how does he expect his friend to get there within an hour or two? Additionally, his friend tells him to start walking. Why? So they can meet in the middle? He's going to go out into the freezing cold and start walking for the next 9 hours while his friend drives up there?

4. The show tries to be all deep by juxtaposing Andy literally being trapped in his car with him being trapped in the web of lies he's created around his drinking problem.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this unless you're really bored and want to watch what is essentially an hour long Chevy Colorado ad.

This was kind of predictable but had some wow moments that made it somewhat enjoyable. Just don't text and drive especially if you are as bad at it as this guy.
