Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine has launched an unscripted unit in the U.K.
The Candle Media-backed studio has appointed former Channel 4 head of features and formats Sarah Lazenby to lead the division as executive VP of unscripted U.K. She will report into Hello Sunshine’s head of unscripted Sara Rea, who joined the studio following the acquisition of her company Skr Productions.
As part of the expansion, Hello Sunshine Unscripted U.K. is currently developing its first production with “It’s a Sin” broadcaster Channel 4.
The move into the U.K., particularly for unscripted, is a sound move for Hello Sunshine, and follows similar drives by companies such as Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton’s HiddenLight Productions, which have similarly been keen to work with the U.K.’s world-leading factual and non-scripted production community.

Discovery+ is to tell the story of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s relationship breakdown from each of their viewpoints in a two-part documentary from All3Media indie Optomen entitled Johnny vs. Amber.
The celebrity court case of the decade will first introduce Depp’s side, how he felt he was married to a Machiavellian liar who would stop at nothing to protect her image, before Heard’s episode explains how the actress married the man of her dreams only to see him turn into a violent drug-fueled monster.
The doc will feature interviews with lawyers on both sides along with people close to the pair and extensive archive and audio footage.
Nick Hornby and Fran Baker are exec producing for UK Crazy Delicious producer Optomen, with Matt Reid exec-ing for Discovery.

It’s only fitting that in 2020 — the year of the coronavirus — Netflix’s top titles include stand-up comedies, “sad movies” and “home baking shows.”
The streaming giant released year-end viewing trends on Thursday that also showed that October was the biggest month for comedy consumption, with audiences seeking to quell pre-election anxiety. “Hubie Halloween,” “The Wrong Missy,” “Space Force,” “Holidate” and “Kevin Hart: Zero Fucks Given” were the most popular comedy titles of the year.
In the three weeks following George Floyd’s death at the hands of Minneapolis police, viewing soared for titles that reflected the Black experience: “13th” saw the most growth, with viewing up more than 5,000%. “LA 92,” “Dear White People,” “Time: The Kalief Browder Story” and “American Son” views also skyrocketed.
Netflix users also gravitated toward twice as much romance in 2020 as the year prior, with films “The Kissing Booth 2,” “Princess Switch: Switched Again” and...

Netflix has revealed some color about its subscribers’ viewing habits during 2020.
The streamer saw foreign-language dramas such as Spain’s The Platform and Germany’s Barbarians boom, romance titles doubled in popularity and action titles such as Extraction and Cobra Kai flexed their muscles over the last twelves.
Some of the most interesting data provided by Netflix as part of its What We Watched 2020 report was around the pandemic and civil unrest over the summer. In March, as Covid-19 was starting to ravage the world outside of China, viewers were searching for home baking shows with almost a 50% rise from the previous month – a boon for the likes of Nailed It! and The Great British Bake Off.
The following month, searches for sad movies spiked nearly 30%, while subscribers were also calling out for stand-up shows between March and April. October was our biggest month for comedy viewing generally. Hubie Halloween,...

Just when you thought cooking competition shows couldn’t possibly do anything new, here comes Crazy Delicious. The show has put a creative twist on the classic cooking show and it’s proven to be a big hit. With each episode featuring a group of contestants who are tasked with putting together some unique meal options, the competition can get pretty fierce. However, the show’s whimsical environment keeps the atmosphere fun and positive. If you love reality TV as much as you love food, there really isn’t anything not to like about Crazy Delicious. With temperatures on the rise and no end of summer in sight, we become increasingly thankful for the time we spend inside our air-conditioned homes, comforted by the silence which we have grown used to during quarantine, and entertained by our one and only true friend: Netflix. And so, on that note, here’s what’s new on the platform today, June 24th.
First off we have a documentary called Lenox Hill. Developed by Ruthie Shatz and Adi Barash, and starring John Boockvar, David Langer and Mirtha Macri among others, it follows the lives of doctors and nurses working at the Lenox Hill Hospital in upper Manhattan. Christened as one of the most poignant docuseries of the year, its latest episode is centered around, you guessed it, Covid-19. Specifically, it will explore how the employees of this hard-hit hospital dealt with the pandemic.
Up next we have another documentary, this one called Athlete A.

With only a few days left to go in June, the flow of new content on Netflix has really begun to slow down. Which is perfectly understandable as the streaming giant just announced their July line-up and it looks to be an absolute doozy. Indeed, from highly-anticipated new original series to tons of great licensed films, it’s going to be a pretty exciting couple of weeks for subscribers.
But first, we need to get through the last few days of June and today brings with it 3 new movies and 2 new TV shows. Admittedly, there’s nothing terribly notable here and you may struggle to find something that piques your interest, but nevertheless, Netflix still has some fresh material for us to dive into and below you’ll find the full list.
