What a fantastic job by James Purefoy. Thought it was going to be another straightforward nasty character to add to his list but by the end he had me in tears. Lovely performance, both layered and moving. Loved the message storyline. A standout episode.

I am a huge fan of James Purefoy and this episode was this good mainly because of his character. So far the best episode for the season, hopefully the other 4 episode will be as good.

More pieces of the end game puzzle were revealed. The marriage and the blessing before it were very touching. Finally, Matthew and Diana had sex. But the best part of the episode was the parallel between past and present. They should have used more of this technique in the season.

P. S. James Purefoy's performance was incredible. He is an amazing actor even though I always hate his characters. They are always the bad guys. But here, he also had a good side, not totally a villain.

Acting vs writing

Warning: Spoilers
Acting 1 - writing 0

The whole thing of blood rage and knowing about your future was handled better in the book. And how the allegiances were set up in the stable fight and making Diana blood daughter.

Please bring back the first season writers.

My thoughts & I believe that I am right.

Warning: Spoilers
There's a specific scene in this episode. But 1st, my hubby & I are complete opposites, on just about everything really.. What we do have in common is that we both hate the same things, & somehow it balances out, & has worked for us for 16 yrs now. & the point to all that is, there is a scene from this episode he & I actually agree on. When Phillippe is talking with Diana after he & Matthew's little sword fight, my hubby & I honestly think she enchanted him. 1 minute he's upset & the next minute after Diana begins to luminate all over her body, his mood changes & he accepts her. Even though he knew of a prophecy about a powerful fearsome witch, we believe she enchanted Phillippe into accepting her quicker than he would have. Dozens of fans on FB disagree, & I can't quite remember if that scene was in the books, I believe it wasn't. There was no need for her to sparkle & her body glowing about, unless that was her enchanting Phillippe & open his mind & heart.
