That S, hroedinger Is Really Some Cat!
Hitchcoc1 October 2021
Penny is having some problems with the men she dates. When Leonard comes to comfort her, she rails at him. After several such encounters, Penny finally admits how she picks huge jerks. That just once she'd like to go out with someone nice. Leonard moves in. But she seeks advice from Sheldon--big mistake. Anyway, the cat thing becomes the basis for everything. Heading into Season Two. Oh, Sheldon learning Mandarin so he can complain about the food in the Chinese restaurant is terrific.

Sheldon learning to speak Chinese is hilarious!

I'm really not that interested in Penny and Leonard's relationship (just got tired of this kind of stuff after Friends), but for one who actually speaks Chinese, Sheldon's scenes in this episode made me laugh really hard. I really hope to see more scenes like these in the next seasons.

The Tangerine Factor (#1.17)

Warning: Spoilers
This was a fun ending of the first season. There is finally some progress in the relationship of Penny and Leonard. Their kiss sure made everyone happy. Sheldon was hilarious as always in this episode learning mandarin to complain about the chicken. Him telling everything about Leonard to Penny was also a fun scene.

The Tangerine Factor is a funny and touching first season finale of "The Big Bang Theory"

Warning: Spoilers
Howard is teaching Sheldon Mandarin Chinese because Sheldon wants to complain to the head of a Chinese restaurant about their switching tangerine chicken for orange chicken. At this point, Penny storms in, yells at her boyfriend outside below while throwing his ipod out the window, and storms back out. Leonard tries to check in on her but is told to go away. What Penny was shouting about was her ex blogging about their sex lives. Howard quickly tries to find it online but is unsuccessful. When Leonard tries to reach Penny again she motions him in and allows Leonard to see what's on the web. It tells of all the places she and her guy made out including the Subway sandwich shop. Leonard tells Penny the guy was just expressing his love for her publicly so she goes back out to apologize. Moments later, Penny storms back in Leonard's apartment as she faults him for her witnessing her ex with another woman. Says Raj to Leonard: "Incredible. You screwed up the screw up." When Leonard confronts her again, Penny says she's through with men with perfect bodies, good hair, and money and just wants someone who cares for her. Leonard volunteers himself as a date which Penny accepts. Except the two are now having doubts about the night so they both go to Sheldon for advice. Sheldon proposes the Schrodinger's Cat theory which confuses Penny but makes sense for Leonard. When Leonard meets Penny at her apartment, they kiss and rush off to a Chinese restaurant but abruptly leave when they find Sheldon there complaining about mucus to the owner...What a way to end the first season of "The Big Bang Theory" with Leonard and Penny's first kiss! Loved hearing the audience clap approvingly at that and their acceptance of a first date earlier on. Great funny stuff with Sheldon's Mandarin confusing many Asians in the cast and his explanations of Schrodinger's Cat to both Penny and Leonard. Howard and Raj also provide fine support as usual. Before I end this comment, I'd like to give kudos to both the animation team responsible for the opening credit sequence and Barenaked Ladies for singing the theme song during that sequence. It's one of the best I've seen in the history of my watching television. And congrats, as always, to co-creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre for making one of the best shows of the season. I hope and think he'll win the Emmy this year. Hope to comment again in the fall. Until then...

Top 5 favorite of mine 😊

Warning: Spoilers
As I stated, this is one of my favorite episodes of my favorite show aside from Tosh.0 lol! Leonard & Penny's first date & kiss, everything seems to only be headed in a beautiful direction for season 2 but unfortunately it didn't quite go that way. However, that doesn't matter in this one. Also, Sheldon speaking Korean with the Restaurant Manager asking him to show him his mucus, something about his tangerine bicycle, and many oxen in his bed was absolutely hilarious! Was that restaurant manager on Seinfeld? Among other things, I think I've seen him in a bunch of things lol! Great Show!

Great end to first season

Asking Sheldon for advice, specifically about relationships - there's only one way it's going to go. Hilariously. Fun way to round off the first season of The Big Bang Theory.

This was a fun episode to round off the first series, with progression being made on the Penny/Leonard front, as well as offering some classic Sheldon moments.

Season 1 Review

Warning: Spoilers
The show falls flat in terms of jokes and delivery to the characters. Fans of the show can easily dismiss those who dislike it by saying that they don't get the humor and the references. I did but I still didn't enjoy it. The execution of these nerd jokes are particularly poor, with the show constantly telling us to laugh because the nerd said something nerdy. As I said before, I understood the references but the show didn't do anything with them. It just points to them without using them effectively. Just because you get a joke doesn't make it funny.
