I knew a guy who went through the "Russian Bride" adventure. First, I was wondering why would he do such a thing, and afterwards I couldn't understand why they didn't get married. The girl seemed to be pretty, polite, educated and quite young. But she wasn't the one who quit. Now, after watching this movie I have some clue. I could sympathize with Tanya – the girl is very sweet and lovely, trying to be a companion, a life partner for Blake. She came with the wedding dress, obviously being committed to marrying the guy. But he just got scared. Different cultures. He didn't understand how isolated and lonely she felt staying in his small apartment. And she didn't understand his obsession with work. Surviving in a foreign country must be difficult. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone.

Very Poignant and truthful about this subject.

I really liked this movie, it was slow, and at times seemed contrived, but all the reality of getting 2 people together for such a commitment from such different walks of life would really take a lot of compassion, patience, preparation and a very strong willingness to make it work against all the odds.

If you ever wondered about marrying someone abroad, this can really give you a feeling of what to expect, and some things you have to deal with. The ending left me wondering, as to whether or not it was actually a good ending or not. But it was really touching to see what it can take to make a mail order bride work or fail.
