Refreshing

Truly a genius program. I was surprised to find out that Mr. Martin was 36, he looks early 20's. I believe with this type of humor , his appearance works. Basically this is a program , where each episode has one word as its theme. The show I watched was about 'COOLNESS'. The complete 23 minute show is based around this one word , in the form of stand up/slapstick comedy and skits. Mr. Martin besides being a comic genius for writing this production is truly a fine comic as well. It is just so refreshing to see that someone can still come up with new ideas. If I have one criticism about the show, it is that it is basically a one man show , even in the skits. This is still worth your time, you shall be pleasantly surprised.

In a Word, Sleek

In my wildest dreams, I never thought that in today's era of reality television absurdities like "I Love New York" and "The Bad Girls Club" and, who could forget, "American Idol," a Comedy Central show would be the one to restore my faith in television.

Important Things is a fresh gust of ingenuity and hilarity that emits from the mouth of the simply odd but genius host, Demitri Martin. It has all of things that were once great about SNL: hilarity, perfect duration, familiarity, and complete individuality. There are no sketches like Demitri Martin sketches. There is no style like Demitri Martin style.

And perhaps that's why this show is listed as 'awaiting 5 votes' for an official rating. Because people aren't sure what to make of Martin. Well, here's what to make of the show: sleek.

Genius

Once Mind of Mencia was released, I had lost all hope that Comedy Central would release a good sketch show again. Important Things with Demetri Martin has not only proved me wrong, it might be my favorite to ever be shown on the network. Yes, it really is that good.

Demetri Martin is a fantastic host and is hilarious as always. The sketches are well thought out and portrayed. It's unlike anything else I've seen on Comedy Central and I really hope it lasts. But if Mind of Mencia can last as long as it has, I fear for the intelligence of American viewers. Let's just hope that Important Things remains on the air for a long, long time.

It's genius!

This show has changed the way I look at things completely. There's always something unusual, something that "normal" people don't really think about. Demetri's creativity is inspiring, I just keep wondering how he can notice so many details in simple things. It's just amazing!

This is a show, that I found simply perfect- it's funny, inspiring, genius, creative, smart and vivacious. I myself have started to notice little things around more, and I'm not that afraid to present my own strange ideas since I saw how natural and down-to-earth Demetri is...ah just watch it, to me it's the best TV stand-up/sketch show ever!

I SIMPLY LOVE IT!

/10+ out of 10 because of its creativity

Stupid
steveadams-110 July 2010
This show is just stupid. I only know of Demetri Martin from the pieces he used to do on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I actually liked those segments he did and they were usually pretty funny. Maybe the problem here is that when he was on The Daily Show he had other people writing for him, because this show of his own is just tedious to watch. I hate it when people do something weird or that makes no sense and then say it's funny. Tom Green used to do that and since he had some success it seems a lot of people are doing his gross out stuff and his surreal stuff. Well it's just not funny. Also let's just say that it's kind of sad that an obviously 35-40 year old man is on TV pretending to be a teenager. Not hip or cool or whatever buzz word the network is trying to throw at us.

Must see movies for learning...

Warning: Spoilers
Boring, repetitive, absolutely bland, eschatological, that's why I rate this series a 3. Not because comedians insist on eschatology, when there are plenty of other real-life situations that can be explored. An example? Once again I remember Jerry Lewis' films in which situations were exposed, some of them for the complete absurdity (in one of the films, the character is assigned to arrange chairs in a cinema by the boss, just with the intention of dismissing him... Minutes then the character appears and says that the task is over, to the astonishment of the boss... Writers: Watch and review those movies to learn how to make a comedy.
