Tillsammans meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
kuvshin30 January 2008
Just saw it at the Goteborg Film Festival. It starts as low-scale soap opera, but later you could feel some mood in it. Most of the film set in the 70s, in lonely isle where few young criminals and their hippie supervise rs live together in a farm. Some of kids are really insane and cruel, and their prisoners are too idealistic and too much into light drugs and music. Sometimes it's look like Tillsammans meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but for sure never never equals both films. It'is very interesting, how progressive methods of correction blend together with wildness. Kids are live by their own and even allowed to smoke, but some girls were sent here only because they were raped by their relatives and one of boys is castrated by authorities to prevent any acts of aggression. But the main attraction of the film is Arnmundur Ernst Björnsson as a young thief, he is really could be an Icelandic version of Alain Delon.
