Seniors on a youth pill
Quarantaine27 April 2022
A wild teen movie with a seniors cast. This was a nominee at the European Film Awards for best European comedy. Its vivid main storyline stumbles onto unexpected paths with an exemplary wide range of emotions that throw us rather brutally into several directions. The ladies sometimes score big and at other times they're heartbreakingly helpless. Director Pamela Tola angles for an authentic sister portrait through a surprisingly rude and also straight out hateful tone. Found myself covering my ears and thinking the award members must have seen dubbed versions.

Oddly entertaining...

Needless to say that I had never actually heard about this 2020 Finnish movie titled "Teräsleidit" (aka "Ladies of Steel") prior to sitting down to watch it here in 2023. I happened to stumble upon the movie by random chance, and with it being a movie that I hadn't already seen, and with it having a rather interesting synopsis, of course I opted to watch it.

While I did manage to sit through the entire 92 minutes that the movie ran for, I have to say that writers Aleksi Bardy and Pamela Tola put together a rather strange and unique storyline and script. The movie's storyline was oddly entertaining, yet at the same time I sort of had a hard time really delving into the narrative, because it felt like director Pamela Tola was taking the movie in too many directions all at once.

With my very limited exposure to Finnish cinema, then I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble at all. But I will say that they had some talented actresses and actors to portray the various characters in the movie. Especially leading actress Leena Uotila (playing Inkeri), she really carried the movie quite well.

If you enjoy an offbeat comedy about absurd situations in life, then you might want to check out director Pamela Tola's 2020 movie "Teräsleidit".

My rating of "Teräsleidit" lands on a five out of ten stars.

It was a very funny movie

Warning: Spoilers
I went to the movie in january of 2020 to watch this movie.

I started to lough almost from the start of the movie. It was so funny! I can't tell you what happened, but for example there was a situation in the kitchen. When the old woman went to ask help from a relative, the relative asked about what was her frying pan made of 😄 You'll understand if you watch the movie ;)

I have to say that I work with elders suffering of demencia.

It felt incredibly watching those old actresses acting so incredibly well, keeping in mind that they were older than most of the elders I help at my work.

Some of you think that this film wasn't good because there were to many situations going on, but ai have to say, that what's the matter? Not all the movies need to be made the same way than the others. And I have watched for example a movie where Jim Carrey played Ace Ventura.

So many said it was incredibly funny, but in my opinion it was a very stupid and ridiculous film. But in the other hands, Me, myself and Irene, Liar Liar and Yes Man were hillarious!
