A revenge tale with a slasher poster
gedikreverdi18 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a sucker for masked killers and the poster misled me. The acting wasn't good and the plot was almost nonexistent. It's just beating and stabbing and shooting until the protagonist (who's an invincible boogeyman) died. He had a very traumatic reason for being a vigilante but he was portrayed as a very erratic and unsure character. The woman became so readily involved in this bloody revenge and that didn't make any sense. He wanted this to be at her house because she was a nurse and she was supposed to keep the allegedly rapist man alive. The real rapist sent a few masked hitmen to the house and our immortal duo killed them one by one. The two guys succumbed to their wounds at the end and the woman gave candies to the kids because it was Halloween. It was gory but low-budget gory but there was almost no background as to why this man was framed or did the rapist set this guy up? Just beatings no answers. 4 out of 10 and all goes to the decent first half and a few good gory scenes.

I want it all
nogodnomasters21 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Romina (Lora Burke) is an emergency room nurse. She comes home to find Chris (Nick Smyth ) and Alan (Colin Paradine ). Alan is her landlord. Chris believes he is the man who raped his daughter on circumstantial evidence. Alan is beat up and Chris asks Romina to keep him alive. She was the nurse who treated his daughter. Alan manages to make a phone call to goons to come get theses two. They come in waves as we watch a nurse and Chris fight off intruders and a biker gang.

The film was fighting for the sake of fighting. Romina had to be out of character for a long period of time for this to work, watching as Alan gets beaten. It was amazing how people can keep fighting stabbed in the side, arm, and having both knee caps blow off without being Sylvester Stallone.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Meh

The dumb behavior and choices ruin what could have been a good flick. Not to mention the gaping potholes. Multiple gunshots and no neighbours call the cops? Halloween night and no trick or treaters or cars driving by, despite being in a residential neighborhood? Better writers are sorely needed in the world right now. This is a weak flick, watchable only for the low budget gore.

Complete waste of time...
FlopHouseDK26 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Here's another 1,5 hour I'll never get back...

There's way too much over-acting - especially from the woman and the male lead.

How is it possible to shoot-up and trash an entire home without anyone from the outside intervening or calling the police!? It's Halloween, FFS! During the movie, when the two leads are talking outside, we even see neighbors outside right next to the house!? At the end of the movie, when the little girls are trick or treating, people are even walking right by the house!?

The different fighting scene are obnoxious as well. You're stabbed several times with a knife, but still you manage to crawl around or walk around banging people in their heads!?

It's a waste of time - 100%!

Brutal, violent and pretty good.
sucraf20 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The production was good, the acting was good and the fighting and violence were over the top. Some reviewers don't know what action, horror or mystery means. It doesn't mean a Oscar story line without any plot holes. You can nick pick any movie to death, but that is not a good review. Yes, a lot of things didn't make sense, but are you watching an action, horror movie to make sense? Review the movie for what it is. It's a brutal violent action movie. Did it deliver in that? Yes it did.

Bad
gab-6759926 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It felt like the actors were trying so hard to act but no one ever really could pull it off. I was getting into the woman's role in the beginning but then she freed the bad guy and I lost all respect for her after that. The action scene felt like they were based on pure luck and not skill. The only thing that had me impressed was the throats being slit, those looked very real. I just don't see how when they edit movies and go back and watch them they don't say "Wow, that is some horrible acting". Oh well, to each their own. I would not recommend and will not be seeing this one ever again.

For genre fans---Saulnier, Winding Refn, Jim Mickle and the like.
MK_Ultra_30 April 2021
There is plenty here for the genre fan, though the film is pretty minimalist---it packs a wallop in tension and violence, and surely not the implied type. Its streamlined to focus on one storyline arch and what almost seems "end boss" fight sequences that keep coming.

Fun, bloody and violent, as the title surely reveals.

If you like Gareth Edward's style, you'll like this one.

Slow, frustrating, boring and completely lack of imagination
yonas54819 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm sorry but sure, this had the potential to be an awesome movie, yet it is set up the most boring way possible.

They start out by making the female "lead" super unlikable, how you ask?

By her taking half of the candy from bowl in a hospital where she works that was meant for the patients, that I guess wont be able to go trick or treating cause they are at the hospital (its Halloween), she does this with a smile on her face and not a care in the world.

After that the movie turns into one long tedious movie about a guy that thinks someone did something terrible to his daughter, yet the movie don't want us to know anything, instead they spend an unbelievable amount of time looking at each other saying nothing (the 3 main characters), the main "villain" never says anything other than "I didn't do it" until the last 10 min where he suddenly says "he did it"... Really? Is that the payout you giving someone spending 80 mins watching your movie?

No deeper explanations, no tricks like she was in on it or something clever NOTHING...

I give it 3 stars because the action was decent when it finally happened, but other than that this movie is seriously boring story wise there is nothing to come for.

Holy Moly
russhird24 November 2021
I watched this because I had seen Lora Burke in "Motherly" and was highly impressed by her acting.

She is also great in this totally brutal home invasion movie with a twist. The violence in the second half is realistic and unrelenting with great gore effects.

A little gem of a movie for a horror fan like me.

Middle of the road kinda film
livin_the_weekend10 June 2021
*NON-SPOILER*

This starts out pretty fast with not much back story before we get our teeths into the gritty story, which is fine as the back story comes to light in due course.

The film itself suffers from a rare thing called over-acting, and this was by Chris Smyth. Now I don't blame him for it as it's clearly the direction they wanted to take and he's doing as he's asked, but the amount of different face pulling that goes on, regardless of his character's reasoning is simply just overkill. It's every single scene his mouth is gurning all over the place, it gets very tedious very quickly.

The storyline itself and how it's portrayed is more than unbelievable for sure. It needed more thought and subtlety rather than going gung-ho with the trauma and gore.

I thought Lora Burke was great btw. Average watch, nothing special.

Goretastic!
dizznmo24 April 2021
So maybe not an 8 but a definite 7! Gotta make up for the 1 star who probably shouldn't have watched it in the first place! I will agree the lead looks a bit like Tom Green and he seems to be channeling Nicolas Cage. The female lead I hope to see more of. It's obviously not meant to be more than it is, a fun ride! I'm usually bummed I spent $5.99 on a flick while bored but I was pleasantly surprised!

Low budget indie slasher done well
petarilic3215 October 2021
A true slasher we all enjoy. There wasn't that much of a plot but does it really matter when it's a blood and violence through and through?

Characters are depicted well, there is a story and nonstop slasher action for the entire duration of the film.

Actors did a good job. Directed great. Not much to say except, if you're a slasher fan, DEFINITELY gives this a watch.

6/10.

pguarin29 July 2022
The first half was good, nice buildup of suspense, only to fall flat with an illogical and completely implausible second half gore fest. Four stars for a good half a movie and some creative gore.

A gory ride it is...
ezgolucky17 May 2021
Have to admit the first part of the movie is pretty slow but it's to set up a roller coaster ride of gore and brutality. I love horror movies and didn't expect much from this film; however, it delivers-with many weapons of choice...

Not bad!
BandSAboutMovies3 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When overworked nurse Romina (Lora Burke) gets back home from another way too long shift, she learns that a bloody stranger (Nick Smyth) has attacked her landlord (Colin Paradine) in her kitchen. Chris wants to kill him for assaulting his daughter. Coincidentally, Romina just treated said daughter in the hospital. Then, three masked men show up and want to kill everyone.

Co-directors and writers Gabriel Carrer and Reese Eveneshen then change things up by putting the three characters we've already met against the three maniac masked bikers and everything gets quite messy and eyes pay the price for all the sin they've seen.

Sure, there are plenty of home invasion movies, but this is 80 tight minutes and has some real moments of drama from Lora Burke, who plays Romina. There's also a great moment in the beginning as she starts taping up the bloody landlord all while trying to calm her son down on the phone, showing not only her mothering instinct, but just how she can control a situation. It's a skill she'll need if she wants to survive this night.

you will have plenty of opportunities to jump of this...
ops-5253521 April 2021
Unchained bull of hell-o-ween mayhem, and if you have a mickey probe connected to your guts, or have reduced your ventrikkuly size to become a slimmer and nicer person it maybe a competitive enhancement for you, because this is a very violent gore and with blood up to your ears kind of horrific violence that seems to never end, all because of mistaken identity from a man that wants revenge over his beloved daughter that were kidnapped and killed 5 years earlier.

So now all laymen out there you have the chance to switching on this film, youre warned, this is not an innocent teenage sprawl halloween flick, its murders and decapitative behavioural issues en masse'.

But by all means, with a revengeful story comes usually a good rewarding feeling , my feeling though is bland and the plot is drawn to the limits of what my countrys censorship board would allow at the movie theater. This said ive come to the conclusion that the film aint bad at all, all that blood and stunning visual violence needs good planning and extremely good make up artists. The fights in very small living spaces is just jawbreaking, and its no wonder the hammerhead hits something it shouldnt when living life like sardines in a box.

When So said its not a screenplay that will enhance the actor, rather the opposite, they do a sadistic sosiopathic impression to me and if it hadnt been for the relatively calm serendipitously placed woman that tries to phatom what the heck is happening in her home at this halloween evening this would have been far from the number 7( a number that is pretty symbolical for this film, 7 deaths, 7 blows etc...). So lora burke does her job as an actor, and does handle the situation as a proffesional nurse at all levels(im a nurse myself...).

So if you can stand the visuals of a bloody ordeal, or how to let your kids paint the kitchen red with non other tools than a gun , a dagger, and a clawhammer, then have a look for the sake of visciousity, its starts in a halloweenistic way but ends as shocking as ''class of 1984'' did.

The grumpy old man didnt have any erotic moments, had a few giggles though due to the maddening behaviour by the intruding occupants, there are some sound issues, and very low dialouge sound vs score and sound effects that will wake up your better half if sneak peeking the laptop under your bed blankets. I give this a recommend for what it is, instantanious violence at all parts and never a moment of relaxation, im still numb...

Would not recommend
Chillaxin1899213 November 2021
My biggest complaint is the sounds in this movie are all over the place they cut in and out too low then to loud along with some bad voice overs. The sound effects are really bad the punches, stabs and glass breaking sound like there made for a comedy movie. Had no problem with the acting and I liked the story. If the sounds were reworked it would be a somewhat average movie. I love indie movies and I know these problems are common in a-lot of them. But i feel like some one didn't care or had no time. Either way why not give it your all if your name is going on it. I did like the sloppiness of the fighting as they are not professionals and get injured quite a bit it, it makes sense and is always fresh to see a not so John wick appeal.

love the first half
SnoopyStyle24 June 2021
Nurse Romina returns home. She's shocked to find a strange guy and a dying man. The stranger is the father of a former patient and he needs help for the dying man who is supposedly his daughter's rapist.

This starts as a great little three handed play. I really like the murky conflict and the unknowable history. I wish they stayed with that premise and figure out a compelling ending out of that situation. In a way, this reminded me initially of Death and the Maiden without the award winning actors. It's a terrific indie. Halfway into it, the movie makes a turn. I'm not mad at the turn but it does make it messy. All in all, I love the first half and I appreciate the idea of trying. It tries to be an interesting gory thriller.

Brutal, But...
vengeance206 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
...it lacked a decent & interesting plot. The characters were cardboard as to unlikeanle and flat out boring. I got it on DVD to see if it might be any good...

It's Halloween Night & the film sees a woman who finds herself in her home play peacemaker as 2 men, 1 of which accuses the other of a crime. Things turn more awry when some mercenaries invade the home, which then in turn goes into a full on massacre and a will to survive.

I found the film to be boring mostly, while the action, gore and fight scenes were pretty great, it wasn't enough to save this film sadly.

For a 73 minute film, it didn't half drag and drag with boring dialogue and unlikeable, flat and boring characters. The action was good when it happened but honestly, it wasn't enough to save the film which wasn't that great.

Overall, it's brutal. But there's too much dialogue between the unlikeable flat, cardboard characters. For a 1hr 13min film, its pretty laggy in pacing. Don't expect too much.

4/10.

Another story about revenge. But, then it gets weird and a little bit better.

If you're squeamish about blood and people getting hurt then this film is not for you. Lots of close action fight scenes with nowhere for the knives to go except into the people type of movie.

Various characters get introduced later on in the film which (for me) made it watchable again and regained my interest. 4.9 - 5.0 for me.

Warning: Spoilers
Bolliwood movies are better than " For the Sake of Vicious" I am disappointed with this one.

I am asking if they producers watch the work they do, or if someone else watches it before they decide to release it The movie is so bad i saved the names of the producers to not waste my time again watching something they produce.

The actress did they're best but from the beginning when you read the script, you have to realize that this is gonna be 💩.

Its not just to make movies.

I thought the new movies are something special, and yes you are the reason to change my mind again for the next 10 years.

I swear Bolliwood makes movies like this.

Save your time and thank me later.

This is a great b horror film. I could tell the reviews for this movie were mostly from friends or family but I still decided to trust them and im glad i did. This is mainly a character driven piece of low budget horror but the character development is done well and so is the tension and violence. There are some great gory scenes and there is lots of blood. The story unfolds in a familiar yet unconventional way and it makes for a very immersive experience. I couldn't wait to see how things played out. Overall this was a great blu ray buy. Support indie cinema.
