Having been fortunate enough to be invited on to the set of compelling drama Keeping Rosy, the one thing missing from the day, was Christine Bottomley, who wasn’t shooting on the day of our visit. However we then had the opportunity to speak to the talented actress on the phone a few months down the line – to discuss her work on the feature, which is released this coming Friday.
Bottomley discusses the delight in performing in a female-driven piece, telling us of her own experiences as a woman in cinema, and how the industry has changed across the past decade in that regard. She also talks about working alongside her close friend Maxine Peake, and tells us a little about her next project, In the Club.

George A Romero's Day Of The Dead is getting a big screen remake, and Mark Tonderai is set to direct it...
Arguably one of Zack Snyder's best films is the one that brought him to lots of people's attention in the first place: his remake of George A Romero's Dawn Of The Dead. Sure, it made one or two contentious decisions, and there's the usual argument over remaking such a film in the first place. But in the cold light of day, there's a lot that that film does right.
It's taken some time for it to happen, then, but plans are now afoot to bring a reake of Day Of The Dead to the screen as well. A director has now been found for the movie too, with Mark Tonderai set to take the job on. Tonderai most recently directed House At The End Of The Street.

Unbelievably once upon a time House at the End of the Street was a directorial project for Jonathan Mostow with Richard Kelly writing the screenplay, but this was back in 2003 before both Terminator 3 and Southland Tales. You could argue about what the better choice was in terms of both moving on but it becomes very apparent half way through the film that there was clearly nothing to the material that either hadn’t been done before or hadn’t been derived from about twenty separate sources.
Current Hollywood darling Jennifer Lawrence plays a teenager who moves with her mother to a new quiet neighbourhood from Chicago after a messy divorce. As she learns fairly quickly from the obnoxious neighbours, a house in their street drives prices down due to the fact that a young girl murdered both her parents there and fled the scene into the woods never to be found.

Holy Motors; Looper; ParaNorman; House at the End of the Street; Now is Good
What the hell is Holy Motors (2012, Artificial Eye, 18) all about? Leos Carax's first feature film for more than a decade (following the commercial failure of Pola X) is a breathtakingly barking affair involving chimpanzees, aliens, computer graphics, talking limousines, false noses, Kylie Minogue channelling Jean Seberg and Eva Mendes being kidnapped by a familiar troll named Merde. "It's so weird!" breathes an incidental character ecstatically, and he's not kidding.
At the centre of it all is the mesmerising Denis Lavant, a fiery angel and existential artist who travels from location to location adopting quixotic personas (twisted beggar woman, scarred hitman, dying uncle, angry father) and performing real-life vignettes amid the great circus of screen life. From the earliest chronophotographic images of bodies in motion to virtual sex in mo-cap suits, Carax hurtles helter skelter through an urgent history of cinema,...

It’s hard to have high expectations these days when it comes to PG-13 thrillers. The reason I used the word ”thriller” is because that is exactly what House at The End of the Street is, a thriller. I found few things I really enjoyed about the film but overall Hates is a snoozer that holds little to the imagination and brings a twist at the end that if you aren’t expecting it then you weren’t paying attention.
Elisabeth Shue and Jennifer Lawrence play mother and daughter Sara and Elissa. The two have moved into a new house that is next door to a tragic family murder that happened four years prior. The people of the town are happy to welcome them but turn a blind eye whenever they mention the house next door. Until a backyard BBQ ensues do we find out their reasons for hating the...

This week marks the release of director Mark Tonderai‘s House at the End of the Street, which stars Jennifer Lawrence. The horror/thriller arrives with much anticipation, as Lawrence is currently riding high on her Hunger Games success and Tonderai, who gave us the impressive horror film Hush, is back with another entry in the genre.
Recently, we sat down with Mark at the film’s La press day and discussed how he became attached to the project, what attracted him to it, which films influenced him and more.
Check it out below.
We Got This Covered: Your first big film in the Us. You must be pretty excited.
Mark Tonderai: Yeah, it’s pretty exciting. All my family’s flying in from as far as Africa and Luxemburg.
We Got This Covered: You have a built-in audience then.
Mark Tonderai: Yeah, I have 17 brothers and sisters.

New York -- The pointedly generic title sounds like either a remake or a genre-bender along the lines of The Cabin in the Woods. But despite an intriguing setup, sharply drawn central characters and a lead performance from the luminous Jennifer Lawrence that elevates the material a few notches, House at the End of the Street is a by-the-book horror thriller that’s low on scares and suspense. Directed by Mark Tonderai, who made the 2008 British indie chiller Hush, the slick-looking film is stronger on production values than storytelling. Following the Jim Sheridan dud Dream House, it

Who’s ready for a creepy good scare?
Seeking a fresh start, newly divorced Sarah (Oscar®-nominee Elisabeth Shue; Leaving Las Vegas, Piranha 3D) and her daughter Elissa (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Lawrence; The Hunger Games, X-Men: First Class, Winter.s Bone) find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town. But when startling and unexplainable events begin to happen, Sarah and Elissa learn the town is in the shadows of a chilling secret. Years earlier, in the house next door, a daughter killed her parents in their beds, and disappeared – leaving only a brother, Ryan (Max Thieriot, My Soul to Take), as the sole survivor. Against Sarah’s wishes, Elissa begins a relationship with the reclusive Ryan – and the closer they get, the deeper they’re all pulled into a mystery more dangerous than they ever imagined.

House at the End of the Street is moving closer to its September 21st release date. This horror title was shot in Ottawa, Ontario. This feature also brings the United Kingdom based Mark Tonderai (Hush) back to horror in what appears to be a fairly intriguing thriller. House at the End of the Street has been completed and a new trailer is available. The latest clip seems to spoil a lot of the film's story. The only element kept off-screen is a sinister sister. She is kept behind closed doors and mostly away from the camera. Fans might want to go into this feature blind. For those wanting a fairly revealing tease, the clip is hosted below. Release Date: September 21, 2012 (Theatrical). Director: Mark Tonderai. Writer: David Loucka. Cast: Elisabeth Shue, Jennifer Lawrence, Max Thieriot, and Gil Bellows. After starring in both last year's X-Men: First Class and this year's The Hunger Games, where did Jennifer Lawrence find the time to star in the upcoming horror flick House at the End of the Street?
The answer is easy, as The House at the End of the Street was actually shot before either of those movies, with Lawrence cast before she was even nominated for her performance in 2010's Winter's Bone. Relativity Media quickly snapped up the distribution rights for the movie, eventually settling for a fall 2012 release. Director Mark Tonderai (Hush) revealed in an interview with Collider in March that he immediately sensed a "star" quality in the actress.

Earlier this year, ingénue Jennifer Lawrence was launched onto the world stage in the record-breaking blockbuster The Hunger Games, where she dazzled critics and mesmerized audiences as the self-possessed teen archer Katniss Everdeen. Soon she'll begin production on its hotly anticipated sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, but for those who can't wait till 2013 to see Lawrence play a girl fighting for her life, Relativity Media in conjunction with Rogue Pictures offers House at the End of the Street, a horror thriller with Lawrence in the lead. Oh how I would love to live in a neighborhood when the girl next door is as sweet looking as the very attractive Jennifer Lawrence, instead I have to borrow a cup of sugar from Mrs. Burd, who weighs 425 lbs -- and 25lbs of that comes from the large mole that's planted in between her 2 chins. It’s that time again… okay, it’s a little past that normal time, thanks to the Mix March Madness wrapup, but here are the preview materials for DC Comics releases for July 2012.
What’s on tap this month? More of the Before Watchmen books, with the debut of Ozymandias from Len Wein and Jae Lee, the conclusion of the Court of Owls storyline and crossover in all the Bat-books, and the debut of the done-in-one book, National Comics, featuring the New 52 Debut (coming right at you) of Eternity.
And in the white elephant of desire category, there’s the $300 statue showing the climactic scene from The Dark Knight Returns.
Once more, into the breach? Banzai!
As always, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

Some thought Jennifer Lawrence too pretty to play Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, but the film took home $155 million in the end! Now it is time to get a load of Miss Jennifer Lawrence’s next film role. We have the taught trailer for The House at the End of the Street. And you know what? It is probably okay to confuse it just a little with 2009′s Last House on the Left. Both deliver horror.
Director Mark Tonderai was also being Hush, the a British horror/ thriller. House at the End of the Street also stars Elisabeth Shue and Max Thieriot. The film makes its debut September 21, 2012.
I love Jennifer Lawrence, but she seems to be used here as a classic horror chick, all blonde and busty, running around in skimpy clothes. Still, I’m betting she’ll bring believability to her role because she always does.

British director Mark Tonderai teams up with Jennifer Lawrence for a brand new horror movie. Here’s the trailer for House At The End Of The Street…
I remember going to an early screening of the film Hush, a horror movie with some really strong moments to it, and it being enthusiastically introduced by its director. Said director was Mark Tonderai, who’s followed up Hush with a bigger project, by the name of House At The End Of The Street.
His masterstroke may yet prove to be casting Jennifer Lawrence, who’s not only brilliant, but her profile has shot through the roof off the back of The Hunger Games.
Elisabeth Shue (Back To The Future Parts II and III, Leaving Las Vegas) co-stars in the movie, and the first trailer for House At The End Of The Street has now arrived. And here it is…

Any hot, young female actress on the rise typically has a generic horror movie in their closet just waiting to come out. Earlier this year we got a look at Elizabeth Olsen creeping through her Silent House, and now later this year we'll get Jennifer Lawrence creeping through the House at the End of the Street. Judging from the trailer (which MTV debuted) alone, House looks on the level your average straight-to-video horror movie these days. Director Mark Tonderai (Hush) was just fortunate to cast Lawrence before she even started production on The Hunger Games, and now that the latter's out and has proven to be box office gold, it gives distributor Relativity Media a huge leg up when they finally drop this into theaters September 21, 2012. We don't mean to come...

Fun fact: The acronym for "The House At The End Of The Street" if you cheat a little bit is Hates. And since we're still rubbing the sleep out of our eyes, that's what we're going to call it for the rest of this post.
In case you haven't heard, Jennifer Lawrence is now officially "a thing," not only as the lead in the box-office-smashing "The Hunger Games" but as the totally adorbz new star whose interviews in the forthcoming Rolling Stone and recently on "Late Show With David Letterman" (watch below) have been refreshing for being awkwardly endearing -- it's just nice to see a young star unrehearsed and going out there as who she is, damn 'em all. All this to say that the actress has the horror flick Hates headed to the theaters this fall and MTV has the trailer.

Much like Katniss Everdeen herself, "The Hunger Games"' aim was true. When it comes to box-office records, it's hard to keep a good book down.
"The Hunger Games" beat all of the "Twilight Saga" movies and every single non-sequel ever with the third-biggest opening weekend of all time. The big-screen adaptation of the first novel in the massively popular young adult trilogy collected $155 million domestically, a figure that was just $3.4 million less than "The Dark Knight" opening in 2008. ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" is still #1 with $169.1 million). Audiences gave the movie a CinemaScore of "A."
"The Hunger Games" collected an estimated $19.7 million in midnight screenings alone. Librarians, academics and bookworms of all stripes should note that all of...

There seems to be an unwritten rule in Hollywood that a young actress will need to knock off a horror movie early in her career. Elizabeth Olsen did it earlier this month with "Silent House," and through years people as varied as Jessica Biel ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre") to Rooney Mara ("A Nightmare On Elm Street") have crossed this kind of movie off their lists. on the brink of stardom this weekend with "The Hunger Games," a horror flick from Jennifer Lawrence's past is coming back to haunt her.

Everyone is taking advantage of the release of The Hunger Games today.
