No. The Longshots is based on the real life story of Jasmine Plummer, the first female athlete to participate in the Pop Warner football tournament. It is based on a script by screenwriter Nick Santora. Santora read about Jasmine in the newspaper, tracked down her family, optioned her life rights, and wrote the script. He then brought the script to Ice Cube to see if he wanted to star in the film.
