A beautiful mind.
maheshjan20 September 2019
I am 26 year old and if someone ask me what's your biggest fear, I would say that " Extraordinary people like Bill gates, warren Buffett and many others are getting old and once they gone, only few people are going to be left to change this politically driven selfish world.

The real superhero
ehudmi121 September 2019
The documentary is a love story, but even so one can't feel anything but awe. Even in a cynical world such as ours has become the transformation of Bill Gates, his growing up, through the hubris of youth into the maturity of the philantropist he has become is both heart warming and inspiring. The man who wanted to rule and change the world has become the man who wants to better and save it. That is true life superhero material and given his phenomenal characterstics which are his superpowers...i am impressed. But the inspiration goes beyond. We are not all Bill Gates, neither in character nor means but we can all use our specific characteristics and skills to fight for a better world. Bill Gates accomplishes a feat of no little means through his participation in this project. He inspires. Thank you Bill Gates for being here. The documentary is not perfect. The back and forth leaps through time and focus can be distracting but I can understand the artistic choice in that. All in all highly interesting...and have I mentioned inspiring?...

ITS WHAT YOU BECOME !!
bhaskarmuvvala-3882620 September 2019
Each one of us has to start out with developing his or her own definition of sucess and when we have these expectations of ourselves we are more likely to live up to them ultimately its not what you get or even what you give its what you become

Must watch for Engineers
vhaneesha-3984621 September 2019
I absolutely enjoyed it and it kept me wanting for more! I think it is a must watch for Engineers! Being a programmer myself, I have huge respect for Bill Gates, and I had a lot of fun watching it. It showed me that Bill Gates is a smart man, and also a human who had to go through many trials, but he is a relentless optimist and has equally relentless determination to pursue what he wants.

Very interesting
jordymadueno4 July 2020
The production is great without a doubt. Regarding Bill, he shows aspects that I didn't know about him, but the most interesting part are the projects in which he has been involved, which is inspiring. I think there's a lot to learn about his life.

The biggest gained global wealth put towards the next steps of saving Humanity
kahama22 September 2019
I watched this to see how Bill created global necessity to not be able to survive without Microsoft. However had absolutely no idea of what Bill has gone on to do globally for humanity and climate change. What a revelation. I did not watch this to find fuel for anger, just to hear his story. Obviously there are more episodes to come and looking forward to them. The speed of western world digital technology in the past 25 years, for most it is out of control and ! could get very political about who cares and who does not. Bill proves he truly care's and had the brain to create an empire and use this to balance fundamental urgent humanity needs across the globe. Yes it may be more gain for him, but he is definitely using his resources in a good direction. Not for war, weapons, petrol, plastic, hate but fundamental solutions to help and balance a planet that has span out of control. He should go for presidency but I am sure his brain is more important in finding global solutions for a better planet rather than gaining votes. Must watch for who believes in good and sharing their intelligence.

Director should have left himself out of the film.
jamie-702-75807422 September 2019
Most of the content and editing were great, but the director's interview segments were excruciating. You can actually see Gates trying to find a kind way to respond to the insipid, off point, childish questions and I kept wondering if that was the purpose because they certainly didn't add much else. Also, did Diet Coke pay for all that advertising? And the final conclusion/question/narration was not in any way useful or interesting or insightful. I hope this guy keeps making documentaries but partners with someone capable of conducting an interview and providing worthwhile commentary and analysis.

not a Gates fan but this changed that

It's an amazing look into a man that has done so much for the world and im skeptical about him but think if Buffet can trust him with billions of his own money i can give him a break.

Director nearly ruined it. Fascinating Content.
kramertina23 January 2020
Excellent series on Bill Gates, in spite of the director's poor interviewing skills and inserting his unnecessary and distracting opinion into the series.

It was fascinating getting a peek into the mind of Bill Gates and some of the events that led him, and Melinda Gates, to where they are today.

I was frankly quite shocked at the closing commentary of the director. After all the time that Bill and Melinda Gates (and many others) spent with the director, after all the good the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has done for people, and not just any people, people who are some of the most in need on the entire planet, the director's take away is to say - is Bill Gates, are you in too deep? Really? That's what your take away is? That's what you are going to end the series with? Not only is it boorish, but it amateur, and smacks of an agenda on the director's part.

An inspiring but unfinished documentary about Bill and his projects
totymedli29 February 2024
What does this documentary aims to be? A biography? It isn't thorough enough to show his life especially about his work at Microsoft. A memento to a person and his way of thinking? That's what the title suggests but while we got a taste from his attitude towards life - which is unique, impressive and indeed inspiring - we didn't get deep enough. The main subjects of the docu are his projects, which are indeed important, impressive and the series does a good job at showcasing them, but while they are all good causes the series starts to feel like an ad to these projects. The nonlinear editing wasn't justified here, since it made the timeline of events hard to follow. The pacing is slow which could be accepted as an artistic choice, but given the missing material I would have preferred if this time was spent on his life and philosophy. All in all it is a good mix of his personality and his work, it is without a question inspiring but it feels incomplete. Despite the negatives it is motivating and because of this it is highly recommended.

Amazing Series! A must watch.
manishsp22 September 2019
Loved each episode and of course improved my knowledge about Bill and his thinking than prior. Thanks Netflix for picking up such one nice topic. A series could have added more details on how Bill tackled crisis situations and war with competitors (e.g. Apple, Netscape etc)

Is he a superhero?
tz-7651027 January 2021
If a dictator would made a film about himself with his most loyal people that would contains more negative thing about himself than this series about Bill Gates. Sorry, a real documentary must contain two sides. This could be a great series about a clever man and his thinking and problem solving, but unfortunately this is only a promotional video.

A must see...
samabc-3195217 October 2020
Q: What is your worst fear? Ans: That someday my brain stops working!!! Q: one thing that you wished you had done Ans: Thanking Melinda!!! "In the world I am spending time in, I had not met a single parent who had to bury a child because of diarrhea. And 3 million times a year parents in other parts of the world are burying children because of diarrhea" Itis about the one who revolutionized the later part of 20th century .. a gifted, a geek, a nerd, a (alleged?) monopolist and later vindicated of all counts, the richest and one of the greatest philanthropist, a documentary series *inside Bill's Brain*, a MUST see

Learnt a lot

Warning: Spoilers
Never had I knew Bill Gates has had so many setbacks. It's quite refreshing to see a documentary about Bill Gates instead of Steve Jobs. I really believe he should be more appreciated.

I do not agree with some points that he has made, such as his direction with TerraPower regarding the use of Uranium instead of Thorium as instance, nevertheless. He's an amazing inventor, a truly unique great mind.

Bill Gates. I Appreciate You.
anthonydapiii9 May 2020
It is so great to get a sneak peek into the greatest minds.

Imagine if Warren Buffett, Steve Jobs, or Jeff Bezos were to open their life up like this. It would help so many and show the beauty inside each of their minds.

I remember watching this mini-docu series on Netflix and truly enjoying it.

It shows Bill's upbringing, his growth as an indvidual, him in his prime at Microsoft, and his departure from Microsoft to create a non-profit (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) and become a full time philanthropist.

It was amazing to see how Bill works, how fast he process information, and even the fact that still takes 2 week breaks away in a cabin since he started to grow Microsoft in order to be isolated and gather many thoughts.

Bill's brain and mindset is tantamount to a computer in the digital age. Yet, this documentary gives a human feel as it goes behind the scenes to reveal Bill Gates new focus in life.

He is literally helping save the world. People should appreciate his work. If they don't, they will in years to come.

"I don't want my brain to stop working"
GaneshM097 June 2020
This documentary gives a peak into Bill Gates's brain. Chaotic, relentless, cramped with information on various topics at once, always thinking of solving big big problems.

In the face of setbacks he simply tells himself "I've got to work harder". The director questions if getting too deep is Bill Gates's flaw. But I think its this relentless attitude that makes him the most likely to succeed in any of the problems that he is trying to solve (e.g. Sanitation, Disease Eradication, Climate Change).

The documentary gives a clear insight into the challenges in solving some of the world's most significant and long-lasting problems.

History will remember
computerparts-7242923 September 2019
Bill gates will go down as one of the greatest people to ever live, somewhere around Edison and Einstein. It's truly fascinating to see how the man who basically invented software grew into a true life super hero using his money and intelligence as his super power. He's iron man without the suit. It's a good note for humanity to see that someone with such extreme wealth can be such a good person.

The glorification of Bill Gates
kniepstephan10 May 2021
Look, I don't hate Bill Gates and I don't love him either. He surely is a smart brain who (not on his own) was able to create one of the biggest companies out there. When I opened this documentary I hoped for a nuanced view on this person. A crazy mind with lots of motivation to change the world, but also a human-being who might lost himself in that process. But the documentary was basically just saying : Bill Gates is so amazing, he has such a big brain (they literally say that a few times) and his flaws are only, that he is always trying to work even harder. It's basically a glorification on all the good that Bill has down, including some "clarifications" on why the criticism against him is actually not fair.

In the end, the only negatives of him seem to be his motivation to continue trying, even if there is no solution. It's not a bad doc, was interesting to see his projects, but it felt more like a commercial for him than a nuanced and neutral depiction of him.

Very good documentary
edouard_moron21 September 2019
The document is very well put together with the narration alternating between present time and back in the day . I really think it depicts well Bill Gates , a human who like simple things like a Hamburger but who also has an incredible mind capable of solving large scale problems .

Unexpected!
utkarsh09523 September 2019
This biography shows Bill Gates world after Microsoft. I think everyone knows about Bill & Melinda Gates foundation but very few knows what exactly work they do. This show is about understanding Bill's thought process. I am sure we have only seen a glimpse of this great mind.

Unknown side of Bill Gates - must see documentary
sunnylca7 October 2019
Thought provoking and extremely candid & honest reflection of the past & present events around Bill Gates. Understanding his views and thoughts from this documentary really made me think about the importance of philanthropy and the incredible achievements of the foundation's work which I wasn't well informed. I hope everybody to see it and make them to think about the important matters.
