The film was conceived, scripted, shot and edited during August 2006 in spare time. It was filmed entirely on the 11th August 2006. The final draft of the script was written after the film was shot, as new voice over dialogue was added.
The film was made on a "no budget" budget, The sequel was similarly no-budget, but the third and final film in the series will have a much improved production value, to give the series a proper send off (while still staying true to the no budget roots of the series).
The mask, which acts as Zombie Man's 'void-of-flesh head', cost £8 and was bought in Norwich (UK) from a novelty shop a couple of years prior. The mask ended up being used in I Am Zombie Man because it lent to the 'cheap-as-chips' aesthetic, which was part of the joke of the film, as well as the style of the film itself.
Appears as an extra feature on the American/Canadian Tempe DVD release of Gary Ugarek's "Deadlands: The Rising", on the Splatter Rampage label, with an introduction to IAZM by the Writer/Director Nick Thomson.
