A wonderful story
laudelpino8 November 2019
Came across this film by accident and it was just a pleasant surprise. We venture into the journey of two young people that meet in the 90's in a bakery shop. They go through many ordeals in life and find each other again and again but the timing never seems right. I have enjoyed the music in this film and the silence as well. The narrative is beautiful and it is so well directed, actors are also superb. Absolutely loved it.

Tune in for love, tune out thereafter.
richarddillomes26 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Tune in for Love stars Kim Go-eun (Goblin) and Jung Hae-in (he was also in Goblin as the baseball player, wow, I'm getting good at this, lol.) The movie revolves around their love story spanning from the early 90s when one of the few sources of entertainment included the radio (remember dedicating a song for your crush?), then came the email era in the late 90s, until the early 2000s that ushered in the mobile phones. Hyun-woo (Jung) always seems to have wrong timing with all his personal stuff contributing to them failing to keep in touch. They eventually reconnect and when Mi-soo finds out about Hyun-woo's past, it placed a question mark on whether their relationship that stood the test of time can survive what Hyun-woo did before he met her.

Having been exposed mostly to the fairy tale qualities of most K-dramas as one local director puts it, it's always nice to see the "normal" side of Korea. Minus the trench coats, bright lights, and extravagant cars, you can even mistake old Seoul (I'm assuming that's the setting) for Manila. The story was grounded, featuring two normal teenagers trying to make their way to adulthood. The cause of delays in their relationship seemed natural and not forced. While it was still too coincidental that they ran into each other again on multiple occasions (meantime I've barely seen my crush in PayMaya and we work in the same building), it's forgivable and let's charge it to "life has a funny way of helping you out." The conflict also seemed shallow and could've been easily avoided. If there was more to what happened in Hyun-woo's past which prevents him from sharing, we'll never know as we're left on our own to guess as we weren't given much to go on. Overall, you get the feeling that the writer wanted to flaunt more the musings the radio DJ is spewing (and they should because they're good, like how your mobile phone is like carrying around everyday a photo album of the people we love) but the overall story didn't hold up quite as well. You will still get what you came for but you might just feel a little underwhelmed.

Skip below if you haven't seen it, includes minor spoilers

Some of the notable takeaways and thoughts to ponder on include: Sometimes stupidity can lead to something romantic - like failing to give the password for the email account you created for your significant other so you can keep in contact. Mi-soo kept sending emails to the unopened account in the hopes that someday Hyun-woo would figure it out. You can feel the ecstasy on both sides when he did finally figure it out and saw the numerous messages waiting for him, and when Mi-soo finally got a reply. When Hyun-woo said he has pictures of times he considered as good memories and he only had a few hanging on his wall, it was the sweetest thing when he saw Mi-soo again after their fight and instead of rushing out to be with her, the first thing he does is take a picture of her. Since everything now is instant, it removes the thrill of waiting. Waiting for him to call, waiting for his SMS or email, waiting, and thinking of how wonderful the next time will be when you're together. On the flipside, with everything instant, there is no wasted time and you're able to make the most of the time you have together. Both with pros and cons, but people now probably will never experience how it was to wait by your mailbox for the next love letter to arrive.

Better than the material.
AJ_McAninch9 November 2019
Like most KDrama fans, I love both leads and was happy to see the film on Netflix tonight. I enjoyed it, but felt the writing and directing were off-uneven and gappy. The actors are better than the material.

A Beautiful love story
shiyrr5 November 2019
It's a beautiful love story. The lead actors love story part is beautiful.. Specially their chemistry is amazing. They look perfect together..

It is a simple story. I love how they had to get separated but still somehow get back together. And those emails!! Wow. It is so amazing that they both waited for each other for so long.

beautiful beginning but weak storyline
supaing-6799425 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The film started beautifully with nostalgia. The first 40minutes of the film was overwhelming and emotional. But as it proceeded, it kinda became pointless. In my opinion, to make a great film, not only it has to be directed asthetically but also needs to have a strong storyline with powerful message or emotion.

The chemistry between the actors were perfect. Superb acting performance. Beautiful scenes. Great soundtrack. But just need a little improvement for the storyline. Anyway, it is worth to spend the time by this film.

Beautiful movie

A really beautiful movie that reminded me a Chinese movie called Us and them. Big fan of Jung Hae-in, he is really good in this kind of rolls. Give it a chance!

Some odd scenes here...
baschimapanem24 March 2021
Sometimes the plot Isn't stringent. In some scenes information for a deeper understanding were missing (what exactly happened in the past?) and sometimes It felt like I just missed a complete scene. But nope I didn't... The conflict between the two lead roles was understandable but not deep enough for my liking.

Yes, I loved the chemistry between them two and the story is relatable and sweet, the overall storyline is nice but the implementation wasn't good.

You could've get so much more out of the storyline.

The acting and the story were great but the director could've done a better job.

A romantic story but sadly produced in a boring way.
mailtaskservice29 June 2020
This is a slight more than average length movie about young puppy love that became missing each other. That missed moments became the start of sparks of first time love. However this movie was produced in a boring way and lack of nice story. It just do not have that excitement nor emotion for this kind of movie. The writer and director had failed to catch the audience feel and this is just another below average movie made by Koreans booming industry.

I have expected so much better from this but it just falls apart with mediocre scripts and dialogues. This can definitely be avoided .

Good enough
PennyReviews8 November 2019
" Tune in for love " had some problems with the editing, but had some good problems too.

The main story was good and melodramatic, even though it started as oddly as it ended. The couple had chemistry and the performances were perfect from both of them. These two helped the film a lot and made the love story intense and dramatic. They had some pretty good moments too, like towards the middle, when they met for the third time.

However, the presentation of the story was messy. The break ups were awkward and there were other misunderstanding that were just blown out of proporsion.

So, six out of ten.

Not very impressed!
aneeqazehra7 July 2020
I am a total shipper of Hae-in & Go-EUN. When i saw them in Goblin, I had very high expectations of them together. Kind of disappointed. Their chemistry is spot on but overall I did not enjoy it. I wont recommend to friends either. I kept wondering why these don't phone each other while clearly they are using cell-phones to communicate with other people in the movie instead both kept running to see each other!

once you've noticed a problem it is just hard to unsee it
yaceya11 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's quite a decent movie, but as it sometimes happens - once you've noticed some problem, you can't unsee it.

If both people are at least somewhat determined to contact each other, if one knows the email address, and knows that the other knows the email address and the password, there is no problem. They just have to realize that either of them can write to that address, and the other can read it. Declaring "ah, I can't login to the email address that girl created for me, so how can I contact her?" is patently stupid. She created the email, she can log in to that email at any time. If the guy didn't write to that email - he didn't really want to meet that much.

And, we know that the girl was checking the email. Why the guy didn't ever try to write to that email? Is he brain dead? One doesn't need to be a genius to at least try it.

slowpaced and...
ops-5253511 June 2021
Longlasting, with a message ever so important in our social media digitized society we live and have to exist in, though some try to avoid it as best as one can (miself), but big brother has decided that every information from the public shall be told or informed through a digital platform so to steer the boat in times like this is nearly impossible.

Its a teenage movie where anger inbetween tweeters blossoms and fatal things happens, and the film is about why, how and howcome things happened. Its a very well acted movie, them boy actors are really gifted specimens of the trade, and carries the film on their not so broad but sturdy shoulders. The story has some twists of surprise, but bombards you with message frames flipping and plopping the screen, screaming their messages of '' eder and galle'' in pure korean, a language i do not speak, and the cc's dont cover. Its also difficult to follow the speed that the brave new world of 1984 fuctions these days, the genre has come to stay, so bear over with me.

But most of all its a realistic framework of conflicts presented in this film so do you have time, see it. A recommend from the grumpy old man.

Watch it for the amazing chemistry between actors
ashishthakur-1153721 April 2020
I watched a love story like this after years maybe. I won't say it has a great story as such. It is the actors and the perfectly set background which pulled it off amazingly. They brought life to the movie. I don't understand Korean so had to rely on subtitles. I am sure if I knew the language I could have connected with the movie even better.

A movie for diehard romantics
nmak-139829 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The first half of the move started well. Two star-crossed lovers who seems to be kept apart by chance, timing or events outside their control.

However, I began to question why didn't they get back together sooner? During the years that they were apart, why didn't they see other people. The main characters don't seem to age during the years they were apart. (not enough work from the make-up department?)

There are other questions that were left unanswered. Like what happened to the relationship aspects of her life after she broke off with him?

In the end, if you want to enjoy this movie, you have to stop questioning the reality about this movie.

Very much a slowburn
jasminn_tan23 January 2022
This is a slowburn romance movie with slice of life as its secondary genre. Nothing too dramatic happens and some things get glossed over for the sake of the plot. Normally I would find this type of movie boring but maybe it's because of the main actors that I enjoyed this. Kim Go Eun and Jung Hae In have great chemistry and they were a sweet couple in the movie. Strangers to friends to lovers. They experienced some ups and downs but always found each other in the end. It was a nice happy ending.

Tune in for love
sathyaaero4 September 2021
This is a love story, as like all love movies this story develops between two characters and follows the same template of this kind (Love Drama) but because of the strong characterization, good screenplay, beautiful picturization this film stands at its best.

Jung Hae-in and Kim Go-eun performed well and they carried this film throughout end frame. They were well connecting to us and makes us travel with them.

Cinematography was really another backbone of this movie, while watching it you can feel it how much it helped this film.

Really a good Love Drama to watch and still can't get away from these two characters.
