Fairly interesting weak explanation
phd_travel19 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the central character the baby sitter - this time she isn't the wacko. She starts babysitting for a family. The mom goes missing. Is the husband guilty?

The story isn't that much but the villain isn't quite what I expected. Rather lame explanation for the motive. OK for one watch.

Erm ...
ExiledRoyal22 February 2022
So, in virtually the first shot we see an aircraft landing, supposedly in the USA. Clearly it's a Ryanair plane. The idea that you could fly Ryanair for a trans-Atlantic crossing, and would actually PAY to do so, even though Ryanair don't cross the Atlantic, is to stretch the imagination much too far. It's bad enough flying local. You're welcome.

Too boring
After an hour the movie still hadn't picked up. You'd think two women gone missing would be interesting but it wasn't. There's just a whole bunch of talky scenes that'll make you start falling asleep waiting for something interesting to happen.

I was however slightly entertained by one of the actors who sported blond hair on his head and a full red beard over his face and wondering why on earth he would choose such a weird color combo. Maybe he was color blind I guess, but someone really should've alerted him to how ridiculous he looked. I kept trying to figure out which was his natural color in this huge bore fest, the beard or the hair....that was the real mystery here.

Watch Your Back, Cassie!!!
lavatch2 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
At one point in "Baby Monitor Murders" (a.k.a.,"The Babysitter"), the main character Cassie is given the admonition, "Watch your back!!!" That is good advice for a babysitter under assault.

Cassie is a young musician, songwriter, and vocalist, whose internship in Los Angeles was cancelled due to lack of funding. She then returns to her home town of the quaint Apple Springs. Almost immediately she is hired as a baby sitter for the little princess Becca, the daughter of a nice couple, Tom and Chloe Paine. Then, the nightmare begins.

Uncharacteristic of Apple Springs, there has been the disappearance of Malory Raymond, who was a friend of the Paines. Then, suddenly Chloe disappears, leaving Cassie to serve as the surrogate mother to Becca.

There is no shortage of suspects in the foul play that is occurring in Apple Springs. Chloe's husband Tom is clearly concealing secrets from his past. Glen Raymond is a hothead, who had been separated from his wife Mallory, who was apparently unfaithful to him. Jim Gideon, an oily psychological counselor who had been treating Chloe for post-partum depression, is also highly suspicious. Even Sheriff Dylan raises eyebrows for his shoddy investigation.

Cassie is pretty much on her own with only her bestie Lucy to provide support in surviving a psycho on the loose. Clues are apparent in the mysterious voice left on little Becca's baby monitor system. Cassie is terrified by the words of the stranger.

The performers developed an interesting set of characters, and the filmmakers moved the action along at a good clip with some colorful outdoor footage. Some of the most touching scenes were those of Cassie and little Becca. Cassie would play her guitar and sing to the little girl, which helped sustain the pair of them through their ordeal. And, it was also especially good advice to the babysitter to at all times "watch your back!"

An Actual Thriller!
gymnckv31 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was an actual, edge of your seat thriller. It was suspenseful with a great plot twist and several viable potential villains. The acting was good, especially the talented lead, Natalie Sharp as Cassie. Little Emma Oliver was great as Becca and they had a lovely, believable chemistry together with Cassie as the devoted protector.

The script was crisp, modern and realistic. Cassie and her BFF Lucy were fully developed characters who carried the film with intelligence and realistic rapport, lightness, humor and gravitas when needed.

Natalie Sharp is a talented singer and musician and was a realistic music theory major at home for the summer.

I recommend this film.

AKA BabyMonitor Murders.
