A thrilling and action pack Detective Conan movie.
emasterslake31 July 2008
An unknown gunner is on the loose killing off police men that have a connection with a case that has details never revived to the mass media. During a wedding party at a hotel, Ran witnesses the identity of the gunner who tried to kill the last remaining officer. But this caused Ran to lost her memory from an emotional shock of the would be murdered officer. As her memories of all her family, friends, and Conan are wiped out. Everyone tries to find a way to slowly get Ran's memory back as she is the only witness to the face of the gunner. Meanwhile Conan deducts all he can on the case by finding out the backgrounds of the 3 possible suspects and the truth of the case that's "not to be known".

The animation in this movie is all well done. Mostly the details of the rarely shown Tropical Land from the TV anime and Manga are well done. Includes resemblance of Tokyo Disneyland and other Japanese theme parks.

The story, original in many ways. I like how the whole mystery keeps you guessing till the climax of the movie. As well as some suspenseful and exciting scenes that are memorable.

The additional characters unique to the movie are interesting including the suspicious characters on how they interact with the characters we all know.

Overrall, it's as good as it gets in my opinion. Those who are into the series will enjoy it including the Ran fans. Only available in Japanese for the time being.

Warning: Spoilers
Fans frequently consider Detective Conan: Captured in Her Eyes a masterpiece because of its superb characterization and poignant moments. Given its greater coherence and consistency compared to its previous installment, I would contend that this was the first Detective Conan movie to get the format right.

Ran's loss of memory following a horrific encounter with the murderer accounts for a large portion of the emotion. It is an extremely harsh thing to go through that Conan, as Shinichi, is powerless to aid her. Ran is still her amazing self, though, just as she was when she was with her memories. One of my favorite things about her and the reason I adore this movie so much is undoubtedly the fact that she continues to choose to see the bright side of things even after the occurrence. The ending in Tropical Land, which features some of the most inventive settings in a Detective Conan film, is one of my favorite portions of this film.
