A breath of fresh air?
seansohr11 November 2021
After seeing the first seven half-hour episodes (each consisting of two quarter-hour stories), I think it's safe to say this show is growing on me. When it hits, it really hits and when it misses, it doesn't miss that badly.

Here are the pros and cons I have with the show thus far:

Pros: * A lot of cartoons from the past decade (at least in America) have had the same distinct style: paper-thin outlines, rounded features, bean-shaped mouths; overall a very simplified and bland look. We all know the nickname for this particular style, but I won't use it, because we know it's not accurate. All I'm going to say is I absolutely despise that ugly, simplistic, rounded, inexpressive style. And I am so glad that "The Ghost and Molly Mc Gee" didn't go down this route. The show's animation services are provided by Mercury Filmworks, the same company that brings "Hilda", one of my favorite cartoons, to life. Like "Hilda", "The Ghost and Molly Mc Gee" has very lively and fluid animation, with fun, wacky facial expressions that make the show feel alive. Hopefully animation continues in this direction.

* The titular Molly Mc Gee is bursting with positive energy and in general is a fun, likeable protagonist who reminds me of Hilda in a way. Scratch the Ghost is the source of much of my laughter while watching this show, and Dana Snyder brings so much fun to his character.

* Positive Jewish representation. We need more of that in not just animation, but television in general.

* Most of the songs are catchy, including the main theme.

* The jokes don't always land, but when they do, boy do they land!

Cons: * When the jokes don't land, they....really don't land. My palm met my face more than a few times.

* Some of the songs aren't that great...I really wasn't fond of that Abe Lincoln rap. Then again, I don't really like rap in general.

*This is minor, but the title cards are sort of bland. Many recent cartoons either have the same title card layout for each episode with minute differences each time (like this one), or just have the episode title over the screen. It makes me miss the days when most cartoons had more variety with title cards.

Overall, I have high hopes for "The Ghost and Molly Mc Gee." At first I just thought it was sort of okay, but after seeing up to episode 7, I'm liking it more and more. This show is, in my opinion, one of the only decent cartoons currently airing (along with "Hilda"), and I hope the show stays on this path, and gets even better as time goes on.

A little too much singing for me
nvywshc30 January 2022
I am watching this now, I'm on episode four. Huge fan of The Owl House ( sadly it was canceled UGH) I love gravity falls, & Star Vs the Forces of evil. I see it has a lot of characteristics of the shows I love but the singing is too too much :/ maybe I can get passed it, but anyways! I love the rest of the show, it's great. The singing just makes me feel weird and I feel it's super awkward and not in a good way lol it's like two songs an episode lmao too much.

The best show ever on Disney Channel
arielsiere12 March 2022
Wow this feels so cool as i started to watch it On Disney Channel and Disney+, most of the characters are likable, funny, awesome and nice including the main characters Molly Mcgee and his ghost friend named Scratch, Libby is a good friend to Molly and the songs are catchy including the theme song too, at the end of season 1 Molly defeats the chairman by using the power of joy and releasing the ghosts from the flow of failed phantoms and Scratch sings a song called enjoy your afterlife and the whole is pretty good.

The best episodic Disney show since Phineas and Ferb
HoopaDaBoopa7 April 2023
The Ghost and Molly McGee is something truly special. This era of cartoons has been dominated by story-driven content, and while that has given us some of my favorite shows and cartoons of all time, I missed shows more akin to my childhood, something along the likes of Phineas and Ferb or Regular Show. The Ghost and Molly McGee have me everything I wanted and more: it's the type of show I know I would have loved as a kid and gone back to time and time again as an adult. Even as an adult viewing the show for the first time, this show has great writing, voice acting, music, animation, and I could go on. Ashly Burch and Dana Snyder were perfectly cast and have amazing on-screen chemistry. Each episode feels unique, and doesn't feel like a typical "stock plot" that you see in other shows; there are many episode from this show that fell truly, 100% unique. Although I love shows that have a set formula for each episode, The Ghost and Molly McGee doesn't, which helps keep the show as a whole fresh. It also has ongoing continuity between episodes, which makes each episode feel significant and the world feel loved in. The animation style might be my favorite I've ever seen: characters are cartoony and stylized, but still look appealing and fun. They're extremely expressive in their facial and body animations. The music is also amazing, and the only show that holds a candle to Phineas and Ferb's soundtrack. The show also touches on some important themes like capitalism and poverty really well, and has a few emotional moments that hit you like a truck. Overall, The Ghost and Molly McGee is a must-watch show if you like animation or comedies in general.

A curse we won't regret
RaymanHortse8 October 2021
The last 3 Disney shows are incredibly good and deserves to be loved. And now it's the turn for Scratch and Molly McGee.

First things first, this show is completely stoled by Molly and her optimistic attitude, she's pure enjoy and the first impressions of her are pretty good, Scratch in his side is not as charming as Molly but he do really have good jokes and shines whenever he's with her. Animation and backgrounds look smooth and they change to the situation very well specially when something spooky is happening. The diversity on the characters despite of not being very creative, manages to make them distinguish form each other with none problems; this is well made with the voices of every member of the cast.

But this has to come, a curse must be casted; Scratch attitude even if is setted to be a very grumpy one, sometimes is impossible to keep him in the lovely path. Talking about him, he also has a very tight pronuntiation making some words a bit not easy to understand without subtitles. And final point is some characters, some fell in their own cliches and it's a bit exhausting seeing the same character kind over and over for their secondary cast, i hope they give a complete twist and give us a surprise like in other shows.

I curse you veiwers to see this show from beggining to end and see how it evolves to a posibly bigger show; now jokes of the original name aside, watch it because it's well made and i think anyone can enjoy it.

Fun Show About The Supernatural And Unlikely Friendships
rannynm2 October 2021
The Ghost and Molly Mcgee is a fun show about the supernatural. With so many things that don't exist in the real world, this show makes you see into the world of the supernatural.

This show is about Molly Mcgee (Ashly Burch) and The Ghost whose name is Scratch (Dana Snyder). When Molly moves into a new house that is haunted by Scratch, Molly instantly befriends him and, in an attempt to get her off his back, he curses her so that she will be haunted forever - but, that ends up being a curse for him. To find out what happens to this hilarious duo watch this show!

One cool thing about this show is that, when the ghost does his haunting thing, the whole screen turns sideways and the colors go crazy, which makes it so entertaining to watch. Another thing I like about this show is the ghost council. The head ghosts hands out assignments and each ghost gets a scare report where they have to show a certain amount of scares during a certain period of time. The whole show is animated and has a very different style of animation. Most animated shows I watch try to look 3D and as realistic as possible, but this one is closer to 2D and it intentionally looks more like a cartoon. That has a more kid-friendly feel, especially with the scary ghost scenes.

The message is that unlikely friendships can work out.

I give The Ghost and Molly Mcgee 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 6 to 16. I think younger kids might find the ghost scenes a little scary. This begins streaming October 1, 2021 on Hulu TV Live. By Avalon N., KIDS FIRST!

A lot of heart for a ghost story
Joshineon18 July 2022
The Ghost and Molly McGee break with what Disney is making in its recent animated shows: introduce us to a lineal story. Despite this, it is still pretty entertaining with its episodic format with some pretty enjoyable and good episodes on its way. It has some potential to create something bigger but after I saw thats season finale I prefer to stay in the simple territory, I mean, the thing the creators do better. So yeah, not the greatest animated show but its characters, music and style help a lot to introduce us in its tiny, cute and, sometimes, bizarre stories.

Sugar-frosted dark humor
cjdesign-inc8 October 2021
While certainly not the darkest of humor out there it took an approach I honestly didn't expect from Disney and I enjoyed it. If you fans of shows like The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy or Invader Zim you'll probably enjoy this. And if you enjoy this, I recommend you check out The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy or Invader Zim.

At times Molly's positive attitude can be too much, to the point where if she was the only real main character shed get a bit tiresome fast - but they play her off with an edge of humor, awkwardness and fear of being alone (not having a friend) that it grounds her character and really plays off Scratch (the ghost) and the antics of those around her.

On the surface this feels like it's going to be another paint by numbers kid friendly cartoon, and it is (the kid friendly part) but there's just enough of a 'edge' to it that although I am FAR from the shows target demographic it was a lot of fun. The environments look like exaggerated Nightmare Before Christmas whenever the ghost scare someone, but it's colorful. The overly sweet pop sounding song in each episode feels like it came from Avenue Q or Book of Mormon if you listen closely- not the content of course, but an overly cute song whose cynical lyrics need to be heard.

All in all this won't be for everyone but I'd highly recommend giving this a watch.

Already in love with it
BoxwoodExpress2 October 2021
I just got done watching the premiere episodes and wow, the show is already amazing. Let's break it down

Animation: 2/2 very expressive and fluid, with vibrant colors and lighting

Music: 2/2 I absolutely adore musicals, so I'm glad that the show has a song in every episode, and truth be told, they're catchy.

Characters 2/2: Molly is an exuberant ball of energy who apparently has trouble making friends and getting close to people. Scratch the ghost works as a foil to her. He's grumpy but is also an outcast.

Writing 2/2: Snappy dialogue and good humor. The series also seems to be setting up a plot line about the Hedgehog Dilemma just like Neon Genesis Evangelion- when we get too close to each other; we end up hurting each other. To love is to be vulnerable

Voice acting 2/2 You just can't go wrong with Dana Snyder, known for Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Jellystone

Overall, 10/10.

I Pity The Ghoul -.-
a34trgv110 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The Ghost and Molly McGee has developed quite the following over the past 2 years it's been on the air. Having sat through a good chunk of the first season on Disney+, it pains me to say I am NOT a fan of this show. From the awful writing to the annoying main character, this show fails at entertaining me but excells at annoying me.

Created by Bill Motz and Bob Roth, the show follows the misadventures of a middle school girl and her ghostly companion in the small town of Brighton. A familiar but interesting premise, this show seemed to be off to a decent start by introducing us to the ghost first. However, once Molly McGee enters the picture, the whole show goes downhill from there. The writing in this show is absolutely terrible with each episode going through the motions of same old plot after same old plot. One episode has Molly trying to make a friend with the town's spoiled brat and, surprise surprise, she ends up being friends with the outcast. Another episode has Molly and her Mom taking jobs and wouldn't you know it, their efforts are made invain. The world building isn't much better as the ghost world mostly has the VIP lounge and the council and Brighton is a generic looking one-horse town where the people are absolute sheep. Then there's the comedy, which just falls head first into cringy, eye rolling and obnoxious territory. If you you didn't so much as smirk at at the slapstick, you're never going to as long as you watch this show. It's hard to get invested in a show that has a ghost world and a small town when they're bother so boring to be in.

The characters in this show don't offer anything noteworthy besides being dull and unlikable. The ghost in this show, Scratch, is a lazy, manipulate, selfish and gluttonous ghoul who curse himself to be stuck with Molly for eternity. While he's not a likable character in his own right, I do kinda feel bad for him. Why? Because he's trapped in a relationship with one of the most annoying and obnoxious girls in cartoon history! Molly McGee is the wrong type of character to be a protagonist. She never shuts up, she's unbearably naive, she never puts her foot down when she's being undermined and she's too forward thinking to focus on the present. She should've been a one of character who gets her comeuppance at the end at best, but as the protagonist, she's just awful. Her family isn't much better as they're all pretty one not. Peter is the bumbling Dad, Sharon is the typical Mom who tries to think positive, Darryl is the mischievous brother and Nin is the tired old Grandma who doesn't get along with her daughter trope we've seen time and again. Then there's the people in Brighton who aren't much better than the McGees. Libby is the anxious girl, the Mayor is a cheapskate and Andrea is a spoiled brat who, for the umpteenth time I've seen this stupid trope, people take her seriously despite the fact that her attitude stinks! Geoff is also a really stupid ghost who annoys Scratch. If he was cut from the show, nothing would change. That's how bad Geoff is.

These characters are brought to life by the stellar voice work on display here. Ashley Burch was fantastic as Molly, making her sound very lively and upbeat. Dana Snyder makes Scratch sound very sarcastic and desperate. Sumalee Montano did an excellent job making Sheryl and Nin sound distinct from one another with Sheryl sounding more like a middle aged mother and Nin sounding like an old Thai grandmother. Jordan Klepper made Peter sound very easy going and natural. Michaela Dietz did a good job making Darryl sound like a boy, though when he scream he sounds a little too much like Amethyst, which took me out of the show. Eric Edelstein made Geoff sound really slow and dumb, which works really well with his character. Lara Jill Miller was really good as Libby, making her sound very nervous but smart. Jules Medcraft perfectly captures the nasty and snobbish attitude of Andrea. Like her equally talented voice director brother, Sam Riegel, Eden did an excellent job bringing out the best of these actors.

Visually, the animation is outstanding, which shouldn't be surprising because it's Disney Television Animation. The characters have really unique and stylized desgins with the humans having different body types, fitting clothing and unique hair styles. The ghosts also look really otherworldly with them all being see-through blobs with unique faces and different colors. The character animation is very fluid and bouncy with the character's hair and clothes moving in tandem with their bodies. The animators also added some neat details that show how ghost operate in this show rather than tell, such as Scratch being invisible when talking to Molly or Scratch trying to be outlandishly scary. The backgrounds are also very well crafted with the ghost world looking like a dark void lit up by neon lights and ectoplasm. Brighton also looks like it has history with chipping paint on buildings, the school being made of bricks and the house being full of cobwebs. If nothing else, this show delivers on high quality animation.

Well, that was annoying! The Ghost and Molly McGee is a disappointingly bad show made from the Mouse House's television division. Sure, the voice acting and animation is great, but the awful writing, the dull and unlikable characters and the lack of humor prevents me from giving this a recommendation. If your looking gor a good cartoon where ghosts come into our world, watch Danny Phantom. I'm aware the show's creator has been controversial as of late, but Danny Phantom still remains is most beloved show to date. The best part about Danny Phantom though is none of the characters are as annoying or obnoxious as Molly McGee -.-

The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy: Cute Edition
babymanperson3 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show is really adorable. It's about the sweet, upbeat, and kind-hearted Molly. All she wants is to be friends with everyone. There is Scratch the Grumpy old Ghost who is really a softy deep down. Molly moves into the house he is haunting. He puts a curse on her that he would never leave her side. The curse backfired because she isn't afraid of him and she wanted a best friend. The art is gorgeous and the humor is pretty good. I enjoy the physical comedy and the dialog is pretty witty.

Cute and very promising
vi-029413 October 2021
The style is a classic disney show with paranormal elements. Very charming and has the potential to be as good as it's predecessors Amphibia and Owl House, high ratings for the innovative artistic direction and potential to be greater than those who came before it. With a beautifully humorous mix of dry comedy and slapstick humor, this show will end up being known for decades to come.

The next Amphibia/Owl house
talbright-5062026 May 2022
This show is sooo good its like Amphibia and Owl House level of good, I enjoyed this show a lot more than i initionally would. Also this show has a plot and a good one its like amphibia season 1 where it starts slow but then makes its way to the top, it would also be nice if we got more plot episodes, action episodes, fight scenes, and Andrea episodes just saying everyone working on this show keep up the great work. Also the songs are perfect and better that any song in a Disney movie which is saying a lot.

An Adorable Friendship
nasdagoodshepherd24 November 2021
Disney Channel's newest animated show, The Ghost and Molly McGee features a happy-go-lucky tween girl named Molly, who has made friends with a greedy, cynical and lazy ghost named Scratch, and together, they became the adorable duo of friendship. Let's just say that I watched the first and full episode of this show on YouTube and I was pretty glad that this show showed me lots of potential. The animation is good, the comedy is nice and the moments from the show war just so damn cute. I can say that this show truly deserves more and more attention and I give The Ghost and Molly McGee a 9.8/10.

Another fun Disney show

I really love the show so far. The theme song is really catchy, the songs are nice and there is just a lot of heart put into the show and it's nice to see another interesting Disney protagonist like anne. The characters are great and the show has the right amount of humor and I look forward to seeing more episodes. I know this show will go on to be another great show like Amphibia.

Feels somewhat underwhelming, at least now
Gleem2471 November 2021
Honestly, the few episodes that are on Disney Plus range from decent at best to bland and forgetful at worst. The art style for this show is nice, but honestly, everything else feels generic or boring. Molly herself is another Mary Sue type character that is a dime a dozen nowadays in tv shows, and the plots in these episodes are also those that you have seen in other shows, such as the typical baseball/sports themed episode, the "make new friends" episode, and so on. I really wanted to like this show a lot, but it just doesn't offer anything that you can't find in like 20 or 30 other cartoons currently on Disney Plus.

'The Ghost and Molly Mcgee' is a new and fantastic show about the unlikely friendship of Molly McGee and the Ghost (aka Scratch).

When Molly and her family move into a new house that is haunted by Scratch, Molly instantly becomes friends with him.

Just watched the first five episodes on Disney+ and they look fun to watch!

I love the characters, the voice casting, the songs, and the animation that makes this show a SHOW!
