A film chronicling the relationship between Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne is in the works.
A biopic about Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne is still in the works.
The as-yet-untitled film was formally announced in October 2021, when it was confirmed that both Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s music will feature.
Sony Pictures and Polygram are behind the project, which will focus on a twenty year period between 1979 and 1999. Lee Hall, who won huge acclaim for his screenplay for Elton John biopic Rocketman in 2018, will write the script.
Sharon and Jack Osbourne revealed the update on their podcast The Osbournes (as picked up by Planet Rock), where Ozzy, in typically unabashed style, commented on the slow progress of the film, saying “By the time it’s eventually filmed, I’ll be dead! I wanna be alive to f—ing see it”.
Going on to discuss who could play Ozzy,...

And the award for good timing goes to Netflix. In the wake of Oppenheimer’s inevitable Oscar coronation Sunday night, a celebration of a movie about the tormented father of the atomic bomb and the world he helped create, the mega-streamer has dropped Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War, which includes an extensive account of the events leading up to the Manhattan Project, the atomic testing at Los Alamos, the annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the arms race that defined the second half of the Twentieth Century.

Exclusive: Roadside Attractions has acquired U.S. rights to Bhutan’s official selection for Best International Feature at the 96th Academy Awards, The Monk and the Gun, a spiritual fable written, directed, and co-produced by the Oscar-nominated director of 2019’s Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom, Pawo Choyning Dorj. Contending for Best International Film, Lunana became the first Bhutanese film ever nominated for an Oscar. The Monk and the Gun premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and later the Toronto International Film Festival where it won critical and audience acclaim, currently holding a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In my Deadline review of the film after its Telluride premiere I said, “If I were a betting man — which I am — I would venture to say that with his second film The Monk and the Gun, which just had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival this weekend and goes on to Toronto next week,...

Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck's "White House Plumbers" started out as a broadly comedic dramatization of the Committee for the Re-Election of the President's bunglingly criminal efforts, but as the miniseries has dealt with the legitimately tragic dimensions of this inept operation, the laughs have grown fewer and fewer. Indeed, this week's episode, which concludes with the jarring crash of United Airlines Flight 553, occasionally takes on the eerie tone of Alan J. Pakula's "All the President's Men."
The Watergate break-in was so poorly orchestrated that it casts into doubt the numerous conspiracy theories that grew up around it or were drawn into it. Given E. Howard Hunt's CIA background and involvement in the Bay of Pigs, Gregory and Huyck have entertained his alleged connection to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. This is intriguing, but, again, if Hunt was as much of an oaf as he...

An adolescent’s sixteenth birthday marks a turning point in life when maturation occurs at a much more rapid pace and the teenager begins to be faced with difficult and important decisions that will shape their future. The same can be said of Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival, set to kick off its sixteenth edition tomorrow: its Super Sweet Sixteen promises to be nothing if not interesting. That’s not to say that the main focus of North America’s largest genre film festival is changing; in fact, between prolific director Takashi Miike’s festival opener For Love’s Sake – fresh from Cannes and having its North American premiere – and the Canadian premiere of animation studio Laika’s Paranorman, which closes the fest three weeks later, filmgoers will have a whopping 160 films from around the world to choose from. Sitges eat your heart out.
