Seems Interesting!

Burn Notice seems to be like it's going to be an interesting television show. The plot is what have seen in previous TV shows or movies but it seems like it's going to be executed in a good fashion and in a way that will make it entertaining to viewers. The pilot itself is a solid, action-packed debut. It's an entertaining episode that some good car chases and some strong acting by Jeffrey Donovan.

This pilot is about a CIA operative named Michael Weston who is on assignment in Nigeria. But after it goes wrong, he ends up being blacklisted and ends up in Miami under the watchful eye of the CIA. With his bank accounts frozen and no assets available, Michael decides he will do anything he can to clear his name.

Overall, this is a solid first episode that is very entertaining. It kind of reminds me of the Bourne franchise but then again it doesn't. It has good, charming acting, a few car chases, and just something that you would want to see again. I rate this episode 9/10.

A rude awakening in Miami
Mr-Fusion1 December 2017
Anything I know of "Burn Notice" came from the (darker) later seasons, so this pilot stands in somewhat of a contrast. What it lacks in Goby Bell's presence, it makes up for in sun-soaked breezy espionage. But in even in its lighter days, it was still MacGyver-as-government-spook . . .

"For a job like getting rid of the drug dealer next door, I'll take a hardware store over a gun any day. Guns make you stupid; better to fight your wars with duct tape. Duct tape makes you smart."

. . . and it still wields Bruce Campbell as its secret weapon.

It's easy to see why this show was a hit; that swagger was there right from the start.

Funny, entertaining and highly quotable.

Burn Notice is the story of a spy who's been blacklisted and locked out of any access to funds he used to enjoy. Of course, now he needs to use his skills to earn a living. Jeffrey Donovan is likable as the lead, Gabrielle Anwar is appropriately attractive as the ex-girlfriend, Bruce Campbell is perfectly cast as the buddy and the great Sharon Gless is wonderful as the hypochondriac mother. This is not cerebral television, nor is it realistic. It is a lot of fun, though.

UNREALISTIC BUT ENTERTAINING

Warning: Spoilers
In real life an INTELLIGENCE AGENT would never be released in the MIDDLE of an assignment because that would compromise every operation in that area INCLUDING risking the agent REVEALING CLASSIFIED INFORMATION and identities as revenge --- in REAL LIFE when an intelligence agent is TERMINATED they're LITERALLY TERMINATED & CREMATED & all records of them including ALL IDENTITIES are DELETED --- after a year anyone that knew them basically forgets them because UNLIKE TV SHOWS & MOVIES in REAL LIFE intelligence agents are plain & unremarkable to everyone around them --- my series score season 1 to season 4 = 10 STARS out of 10 STARS --- season 4 to season 7 = 5 STARS out of 10 STARS

Totally silly

I bought the first season on dvd, thinking it was actually about espionage and a former agent. I was wrong. It's a silly, airheaded comedy about nothing in particular. What a waste of money and time.

I should have read the reviews first. The pilot getting nothing but 3 shill reviews would have tipped me off.
