Looking back on this still-young century makes clear that 2007 was a major time for cinematic happenings — and, on the basis of this retrospective, one we’re not quite through with ten years on. One’s mind might quickly flash to a few big titles that will be represented, but it is the plurality of both festival and theatrical premieres that truly surprises: late works from old masters, debuts from filmmakers who’ve since become some of our most-respected artists, and mid-career turning points that didn’t necessarily announce themselves as such at the time. One of the most powerful states explored in cinema is the state of exhaustion. Being tired. Tired of work. Tired of bad choices. Tired of life. In every sigh, glance and line read does George Clooney convey this in Michael Clayton.

2016 was widely labelled as the biggest year yet for the superhero movie genre, as it featured massive game-changers like Captain America: Civil War, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Deadpool. A look back at the comic book film offerings of 2017, though, will show you it’s clear that this year has arguably been even bigger and more impactful.
For starters, the Marvel Cinematic Universe made its first steps into releasing a whole three movies per year – which thankfully brought terrific results in each case. Meanwhile, the DC Extended Universe shifted into the next gear, with its long-awaited team-up movie and its first true success story. The X-Men universe also delivered, giving us not just one of its strongest installments to date, but perhaps one of the finest efforts in the genre.
Overall, out of the eight superhero films that arrived in cinemas in 2017, all of them were enjoyable in their own ways.

Wait, wait, wait, wait — things cannot be as they seem, right? Could the outcome of The Walking Dead‘s Saviors/Scavengers-vs.-Everybody Else War really rest in the trembling hands of Eugene Porter, arguably the only character in the series’ history who even comes close to Gregory for sheer weaselliness? It sure seemed that way by the end of “Time for After.”

Released in theatres on November 25, 1992, today marks the 25th anniversary of Aladdin. Considered one of the founding films of the Disney Renaissance, Aladdin was Walt Disney Studio’s 31st animated feature film and ushered in a new era of classics.

It's hard to believe we're only one week away from finding out who will be crowned the season 25 mirrorball champion on Dancing With the Stars!
After Monday night's shocking semifinals, which sent Victoria Arlen and her pro partner, Val Chmerkovksiy, home, we were left with the four remaining couples who will advance to the next round of the competition.
But before they take the stage one last time during next week's two-night finale, Et's breaking down all the best choreography moments from last night's show -- including what we think each pair needs to do to improve!
Watch: 'DWTS' Semifinals: Lindsay Arnold Overcomes Injury to Deliver Epic Performances with Jordan Fisher
Drew Scott & Emma Slater - Tango, "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers
Dance highlight: We have to admit, this routine was definitely entertaining thanks to the stage production and Emma and Drew fully dressing the part. Our favorite moments occurred at 0:28, 0:54 and 1:18.

Dancing With the Stars' Trio Night was full-on fun!
With special appearances from past winners, like reigning mirrorball champion Rashad Jennings and season one winner Kelly Monaco, there was a tremendous amount of talent in the ballroom during week eight of the dance competition show.
Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to one dancing duo -- Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke -- before the five other couples were announced that they'd be advancing to next week's semi-finals.
Now, Et's breaking down all the memorable choreography moments from last night's performances!
Watch: 'DWTS' Competition Heats Up After Quarterfinals Elimination-- See Who Went Home!

Dance highlight: This week, Emma challenged Drew to be vulnerable as he performed a piece dedicated to his fiancee, Linda Phan. Our favorite moment happened at the 1:02 mark, when Drew assisted Emma in a gorgeous arabesque spin.

After being temporarily suspended from Twitter, Rose McGowan called on supporters to boycott the social-media site — and several people answered. The actress accused Harvey Weinstein of raping her 20 years ago, and her ban was apparently the result of tweeting a private phone number. Before going radio silent, a number of others announced their intentions.

The final Justice League trailer had a lot riding on it. As the first preview that could include material from the extensive reshoots undertaken by Zack Snyder’s replacement Joss Whedon over the summer, it was set to offer our clearest look yet at what the film would be like when it arrives in cinemas next month. Now, it’s finally here and is sending DC fans everywhere into meltdown, and understandably so.
That being said, some people are still saying that they preferred the bombast of the previous trailer to this one, which emphasizes its characters over action for at least half of its length. But who says that’s a bad thing? In order to avoid the typical spoiler-heavy final previews for superhero films that have sadly become the norm lately, DC have decided not to blow all their secrets this time and are continuing to tease rather than reveal.

Love him or hate him, you have to acknowledge that every superhero you admire today owes their existence to the Man of Steel – and it all started back in 1938 with the release of Action Comics #1. In those pages, we saw the debut of Superman, who soon went on to completely take over that title and headline an ongoing series of his own.
Originally created by Jerry Siegel and the Joe Shuster, Big Blue has since inspired fans in radio productions, animation, live action cinema and especially the realm of television, which is seemingly never bereft of Kal-El or his supporting characters for too long.
Not surprisingly, DC Comics intend on honoring his enduring legacy next year with the historic release of Action Comics #1000, the first comic book to organically reach that milestone. (Face it, Deadpool‘s tongue-in-cheek thousandth issue doesn’t count.) And as such, it obviously won’t be your average twenty-odd page release.

Join us as an assembled team, many of whom were coming of age that year, takes on their favorites.

Join us as we take a look at some of the most head-scratching (and disturbing) movie-based toys to reach the market, and marvel at how they ever became approved.
Movie merchandising, especially the merchandising of toys, is a Big business. According to the Hollywood Reporter, movie merchandising was responsible for $262.9 billion worth of sales in 2016 (globally). Of that total, 45% were a result of toy and other entertainment-related transactions. That’s about $118 billion worth of merchandise, versus movie ticket sales which only totaled an estimated $38.6 billion. From these numbers, it is easy to see why film studios put such an emphasis on the merchandising capabilities of their films, especially the big-budget franchises.
However, just because studios and toy manufacturers have profited immensely from the merchandising of movies doesn’t necessarily mean that those efforts have been quality or well thought out. For the most part, those responsible for making toys for...

Twenty years ago, we didn’t know many dancing babies, and we didn’t think much about women’s wattles… and then Ally McBeal premiered and changed everything.
Ally was a soaring comet of a TV show, burning bright for a few years (winning an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series and landing on the cover of Time magazine) before flaming out after just five seasons. But it still left us with a legacy of Barry White dance numbers, Fish-isms and a quirky blend of comedy and drama that paved the way for countless genre hybrids to follow.
The series premiere — airing on Sept.

In the 80s, DC comics woke up the comics industry with Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns and The Watchmen by Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons. Fans and retailers were anxiously awaiting the next big thing. Thriller, the comic that you couldn’t read fast enough, was supposed to be that next big thing. Management was excited about this fresh title. The DC marketing department got behind it and sent the writer on the road with a presentation. Distributors got behind the first issues. Comic shop retailers aggressively ordered the first issue.
And then…it wilted. Thriller wasn’t the next big thing. It doesn’t mean there weren’t a lot of great things about the series. There certainly were. In the recent issue of Back Issue magazine, I looked at Thriller and the tumultuous backstory. As a fan, I always liked the early issues of the series, and now,...
