It is said to Mark Naird that four star general is the highest rank that can be achieved in the US military. Actually the highest rank is five stars. For the Army, the highest rank is General of the Army, for the Air Force it's General of the Air Force, and for the Navy it's Admiral of the Navy. None of these has been awarded since World War II since they are war-time only ranks. Beyond these is one higher rank, which has only been awarded twice. That rank is General of the Armies, which was awarded to General John J. Pershing during WWI, and posthumously to George Washington in 1976.
Naird is seen putting his hat on as he leaves the helicopter. This is wrong. It's an offense to wear headgear on the flight-line, or near an operational aircraft due to potential F.O.D hazard. Anyone who served in any Air Force longer than a week is taught this.
General Naird stated that he 'believes' that he has flown every 'F' series from the Tomcat to the F-117 Nighthawk. General Naird was Air force but F-14 Tomcats were only operated by the Navy. He also would not have flown F/A-18 Hornets as they are also operated by the Navy. It's also unusual for an Air force pilot to fly different types as they are usually hired to fly a specific type and only fly that for their entire career as a pilot. Yes, I'm aware this show is a spoof.
The satellite was proclaimed to be in orbit, seconds after it left Earth's atmosphere. At this point it would still be on a suborbital trajectory and require its rockets to burn a while longer to avoid reentry.
Gen. Naird says that he's not sure where the boots will be made, but all items issued and used by the U.S. Military are made in the US of A.
Near the beginning, General Naird stops at a convenience store on his way to Space Force base. When he drives away from the store, he passes Joshua trees (yucca brevifolia). There are no Joshua trees in Colorado. They are found in only two places in the world; Israel and the Mojave desert. The scene was filmed at a set in Lancaster, California.
When General Naird is speaking at the high school, he pulls up the iconic "Earthrise" photograph and says "Fifty years ago, Americans landed on the Moon and took that picture." The picture was actually taken by William Anders during the Apollo 8 mission which orbited the Moon but did not land on it.
Several people salute General Naird has he is entering the base. However General Naird is wearing civilian clothing. Regardless of an officer's rank, you do not salute them if they are "out of uniform".
