CBS’ summer staple Big Brother will return next year for a 16th cycle. Additionally, live, late-night companion show Big Brother: After Dark, which moved from Showtime to new CBS sibling Tvgn this summer, has been renewed for another installment on the basic cable network (form. TV Guide Network.) Big Brother, which recently marked its 500th episode, is averaging 7.29 million viewers and 2.6 ratings in adults 18-49 this summer. Despite impact from the prolonged blackout on Time Warner Cable, the reality veteran is up +11% in viewers and +8% in adults 18-49 vs. last summer. The current 15th season of Big Brother will conclude with a 90-minute finale next Wednesday at 9:30 Pm, immediately following the season premiere of another long-running CBS reality series, Survivor. Big Brother is executive produced by Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol USA.

CBS‘ reality mainstay Big Brother brushed off a challenge from ABC’s similarly themed The Glass House to deliver another solid ratings performance and earn a renewal. CBS has picked up the voyeuristic unscripted series for a 15th cycle to air next summer. This summer’s edition, which concludes tonight with a 90-minute finale, is averaging 6.8 million viewers, 2.5/8 in adults 18-49. Big Brother, which premiered in 2000, spans multiple platforms, with full-length episodes and highlight clips available at CBS.com and across the CBS Audience Network, and 24/7 streaming video from inside the Big Brother house made available by CBS and RealNetworks. Companion program Big Brother: After Dark airs on Showtime 2. Big Brother is hosted by Julie Chen and executive produced by Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol USA.

"Wipeout" meets "Jeopardy" in the latest broadcast network reality TV project.
In the CBS pilot for "The Whole 19 Yards," contestants race an intense obstacle course, then answer trivia questions.
The one-hour reality biathlon is hosted by Chris Hardwick ("Attack of the Show") and produced by Endemol. Scott Einziger ("Big Brother: After Dark") exec produces, and production starts next week.
"19 Yards" joins other CBS reality projects in contention for summer and fall, including "Thunder Road" (auto obstacle course), "Strongest American" (ordinary Americans in crazy strength competitions), "Arranged Marriage" (single strangers tie the knot), "Missing You" (finding missing persons) and "There Goes the Neighborhood" (neighbors compete in challenges).
CBS and other broadcasters are developing lighter and more comedic reality fare this year, inspired partly by the success of ABC's unscripted hit "Wipeout" last summer and partly by concerns that the economic recession might prevent viewers from embracing more serious shows. Yet classic...
