This Star Trek: Picard article contains spoilers.
Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Episode 8
Being trapped in the year 2024 hasn’t prevented Star Trek: Picard from connecting to all corners of the Trek franchise. In some ways, this part of Earth’s history is the most pivotal for the formation of the rest of the timeline. And so, it makes sense that as the series warps towards its impending finale, the rest of the canon is honored and somehow referenced.
Here’s every major easter egg and reference in Star Trek: Picard season 2, episode 8, “Mercy.”
Vulcans on Earth
One of the central plot points in this episode of Picard is the idea that Vulcans were surreptitiously hanging around on Earth. Prior to the Vulcan-human meeting in First Contact, one stand-out episode of the prequel series Enterprise, “Carbon Creek,” retroactively established that some Vulcans were surveying Earth in 1957. Now, with the flashback to...

“Junho” is a drama by Korean-American writer and director David Seok Hoon Boo. The film screened at this year’s CAAMFest is the portrait of a traumatized and lonely person. It is also a homage to the art of acting and theater.
The protagonist of the story, Junho, is an actor and member of a prestige acting troupe in Korea. If you are a member of the Ghangbi you are considered elite in the acting scene. The troupe is organized in a very hierarchical way. An old „master“ dictates the plays and assigns the roles. He acts like a severe but still good-willed father figure. Junho and his girlfriend Jin are honored and happy to be part of this big family.
What the elderly members of the troupe hide however is a big and dark secret. The master has sexually assaulted several female members. And Jin is one of them.

A common trope in the genre over-the-years, the fateful exorcism scene in horror has been part of the community since William Friedkin’s seminal and groundbreaking “The Exorcist” was released in 1973. While numerous countries tackled imitations of the films both immediately and over the years, the previously-silent South Korea offers up this second entry in a calendar year after providing The Divine Fury.

Lee Byung-hun, Park Seo-joon and Park Bo-young are all confirmed to be starring in “Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned” director Uhm Tae-hwa’s new thriller film “Concrete Utopia”.
The film follows the survivors in a city that went to ruins after a massive earthquake destroyed all the concrete.
Lee Byung-hun’s character Young-tak is a leader who works to protect Hwang Goong Apartment from outsiders. Park Seoo-joon will play Min-sung, a salaryman who gets chosen to assist Young-tak and becomes increasingly bold as he encounters crises. Park Bo-young has been cast as Min-sung’s wife and former nurse Myung-hwa, a warm character who cares for those who are hurt in dangerous situations.
Lee Byung-hun currently seems to be on a run of disaster films, has already survived a volcanic disaster in last year’s “Ashfall” and currently mid-production of aviation disaster film “Emergency Declaration” alongside Song Kang-ho and Jeon Do-yeon.

This year, the motion picture academy achieved its five-year goal of doubling the number of women among its membership. In all, 819 film professionals were invited to become part of the organization that hands out the Oscars. Compare this intake to the totals of the previous five years: 842 in 2019; a record 928 in 2018; 774 in 2017; 683 in 2016; 322 in 2015; and 271 in 2014.
While Academy Awards nominees are automatically eligible for consideration, the rest of the candidates must go through a fairly cumbersome process. A candidate must meet certain branch specific requirements before even being eligible.
For example, actors must “have a minimum of three theatrical feature film credits, in all of which the roles played were scripted roles, one of which was released in the past five years, and all of which are of a caliber that reflect the high standards of the Academy.” For writers, directors and producers they need have just two of these credits.

It’s been a year of change for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which has responded not only to the pandemic, pushing back the global ABC Oscars telecast from February 28 to April 25, 2021 — setting a new award season calendar as other award shows have followed suit — but the urgency of the Black Lives Matter movement.
In its continuing push to swell the Academy membership ranks, 819 artists and executives from 68 countries have been invited to join this year. The branches have increasingly actively sought eligible people to become Academy members, but the Board of Governors makes the final call. People from underrepresented ethnic/racial communities (36 percent) and women (45 percent) are among the many invites, as the Academy continues to address its long-term white-male dominance. As always, actors make up the largest branch of the Academy, but many new members (49 percent) also come from overseas.

Tu Bhi Hai Yahin Aur Main Bhi Hu Yahin
Phir Kyun Doori Dono Mein Yahan Hai
Main Bhi Toh Hu Mushqil Mein
Jo Hai Tere Dil Mein Zara Tu Keh De Na
Na, Na..
Do You Love Me
Do You Love Me
Do You, Do You
Do You, Do You..
Do You Love Me
Tera Intezar Mujhe
Kar Le Na Pyaar Mujhe
Zara Ik Baar Mujhe
Keh De Na Yaar Mujhe
Do You Love Me...

Zara Ik Baar Mujhe

Do You Love Me

Kaise Main Bataun Kya Haal Mera Hai
Tere Bina Har Pal Jaise Saja Hai

Back in 2014, director Jo Bum-soo took unlikely action hero Jung Woo-sung and created an exciting, entertaining action film in “The Divine Move”, which revolved around the Asian board game Go. The film was successful and five years later, we are nearing the release of its prequel “The Divine Move: Ghost Move”.
Synopsis
“The Divine Move: Ghost Move” is criminal action film about ‘Ghost Move’, a man who loses everything in Go and seeks revenge.
The prequel loses the star and director of the previous film, instead appointing debutant director Khan Lee at the helm and actor Kwon Sang-woo (“The Accidental Detective”) in the lead. Also starring regular supporting actor Kim Hee-won (“The Man from Nowhere“), Kim Sung-kyun (“The Witness“), Heo Sung-tae (“Rampant“) and Woo Do-hwan (“The Divine Fury“), the film releases in Korean cinemas in November, 2019.

Both “The Exorcist” and “Enter the Dragon” came out in 1973, igniting their respective genres at the box-office as never before. So you’d think more than a few enterprising souls would have tried to combine demonic-possession chills and fighting-action thrills. But apart from 1984’s flabbergasting camp classic “Ninja III: The Domination” — with Lucinda Dickey as an aerobics instructor who’s suddenly from hell — it’s hard to think of much in that vein before new arrival “The Divine Fury.”
This Korean import, releasing on about a dozen U.S. screens, features an Mma fighter battling his own demons while helping a priest free the afflicted of supernatural parasites. Jason (aka Joo-hwan) Kim’s film is a slick concoction that affords moderate guilty-pleasure fun for a while, though it goes on too long to diminishing effect. Nonetheless, a sequel is duly promised at the close.

Like last weekend, this weekend features five new wide releases, and while we're forecasting Universal's Hobbs & Shaw will finish atop the weekend box office for the third straight weekend in a row, it could be challenged by at least three of the weekend's newcomers. Challengers for that #1 spot include Universal's R-rated comedy Good Boys, Sony's Angry Birds 2 (which debuted on Tuesday) and Entertainment Studios's 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. Alternatively, Uar's Where'd You Go, Bernadette and Warner's Blinded by the Light look to be in a dogfight for tenth position as neither appears they will break out from the pack. After a -58% drop last weekend and a second straight weekend at #1, Universal's Hobbs & Shaw could join Glass and Avengers: Endgame as the only films to top the weekend box office three weekends in a row in 2019. This weekend we're expecting a -48% drop and a three-day around $13 million...
