I'm not an eloquent writer (I wouldn't even classify myself as a writer) but I had to submit my thoughts on this incredible documentary.
The first time I saw this film I fell in love with it. Just a few short months before its release, I became addicted to the sport of roller derby. I saw the first bout of season three; we were there to watch a friend play. Little did I know this thing called derby would totally consume me. Rumor had it that there was a movie coming out about the very same roller derby league that stole my heart. I did some research and found the "BOTFT" website. I watched the trailer daily...sometimes several times per day.
My addiction was fed when I finally got to see the film; I was totally glued to the screen from the first minute to the last. The details on how the league began and the roller girls involved were fascinating. They captured so many touching, comical, intimate, and honorable details of this incredible organization.
When it was over, I wanted to watch it again...immediately. I long for a copy of my own on DVD. I just might have to buy two, so I have a back up for when I wear the first one out.
