A lovely world with not a single police worker
IzzyMaeDoorite25 July 2020
Blood Ride lasts 69 minutes, excluding the closing credits, and this is one of the longest hours I've ever had. The whole plot is ridiculous, acting is far beyong horrible (the next Razzie Award for worst supporting actress must be presented to Pollyanna McIntosh, once a promising Scottish actress from The Woman and Let Us Prey that now got desperately stuck in a girl-power pit hole that led her to direct an embarrassing Darlin'), and every single aspect, starting with amateur cinematography and finishing with unforgivably cringeworthy dialogues, falls apart on the screen just to praise the pointless gender war directed by Melanie Aitkenhead.

A freshman girl gets drugged and raped by a trio of one-dimensional hunky football players. Should she call the authorities? Should she visit a doctor that will easily find a violence marks and an elements in her blood? Hell no! This is the world where no man will ever defend her! She has to speak to her wretched older cousin that will cast a fire on the rapists along with her biker friends and will leave them with severe wounds. Should they call the authorities? Should they visit a doctor that will easily find a nasty large burn marks on their skin? Hell no! They have to take revenge for taking revenge on them. Someone gets killed. Authorities? Doctors? Family, at least? You know the answer.

This is what the film is about. This is effortless, lazy, predictable, unintriguing and simply painful to watch. This shouldn't be created in the first place. Yet, we have it. Avoid at all costs.

Should've Been a Comedy

If this movie came out in the 80s it might have worked. It was one of those movies you would except to watch on USA Network Up All Night. The only thing good about this movie was the acting. The cast actually gave an honest effort with the script that was provided which wasn't much. It was basically a train wreck with more holes than you can imagine.

It's Time To F Them Up!!!
wandernn1-81-68327429 March 2022
This movie starts out with two rapes. They don't show anything at all. What is this a Lifetime Movie?? -1 Star

The movie is too short. -1 Star

So the girls team up for the Revenge Ride!!!! Oh cool the gang leader is the garbage lady from The Walking Dead! I heard she finally returned Rick in that. In this she says the F word a lot.

So they get their revenge on the college guys. Then the college guys find them and get their revenge on the biker girls. It's a lovely beautiful family story but it didn't really have any flesh so it's sorta a waste of time.

3/10.

Wanted to Like But Skip It
dcmackdon6 August 2020
Of course a revenge flick I wanted to like, but I couldn't. Pollyanna McIntosh was good, some what, she would be perfect as a biker gang lead at 5'11" and intimidating and she showed character, but she doesn't have a lot here. Serinda Swan was good and truly shines. BUT it made no sense honestly, a biker gang of women against 3 football frat boys, I believe the director tried to make it a commentary on college rape, how so many go unknown and unreported, but does not explain why other than 'nobody will do anything', the gang hates men, but really they don't, but it is not really shown except the end somewhat, the movie really could have used an extra 15-20 minutes, the ending was abrupt, silly and no resolution to everything that just happened. It was a pretty bad movie, even for me and that really is saying something, it had potential but missed.

Movie left me frustrated
jwjonesjr3 January 2021
I was frustrated through the whole movie because it seemed as though it was written by someone with a personal vendetta. It didn't seem balanced at all.

Silly......
s327616930 June 2020
A rather silly revenge fantasy where a bunch of "tough chicks" in leather outfits take on abusive "mean old mens".

Might have worked if it had been re-written as a comedy.

As it stands its truly awful, with moments of chuckle worthy accidental, self satire, being the only dim light, in the general gloom this thing represents.

Disappointing Revenge Flick
cjstanford-650975 August 2021
I ignored the reviews and watched anyway. Being a revenge-movie buff, the beginning and middle was predictable and entertaining enough for me to think it was headed to a higher rating. But the writer's have an obvious moral inconsistent with with the cathartic feeling I look forward to in revenge-genre movies. Nothing special about character development, cinematography photography, music or editing. Nothing horrifically bad, looks professional enough for a good b film. Nothing special about the action scenes either. In my view it does a disservice for women's rights.

Serinda swan is a good reason to watch this, but thats not enough
zathan-3284822 June 2020
This movie is very bad... Serinda Swan is a true swan and she does shine some light on this movie. Still its pretty terrible. The story, the other actors and the cinematography is awful.. Still impressed by Serinda's professional acting through this terrible film..

Fair concept ruined with tawdry, imbalanced execution
I_Ailurophile31 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not entirely sure why I decided to watch this. I think it was the idea of a revenge flick centering women, and a biker gang at that. If only a B-movie, 'Revenge ride' could have been a decent film. But the presentation is so inelegant and mildly stylized that from the very beginning it's more schlock than fun, and alternates between overbearing and underwhelming. More so than not, no sooner had I clicked "play" than I regretted doing it.

Every scene of the "Dark Moon" biker gang at their hideout is simply awkward for how staged and forced the revelry and proud cheering feels. The predatory behavior of the frat boy jocks is, naturally, far more repugnant. For whatever slight variations there may be in a handful of roles, mostly the characterizations are direly flat, if they're given any personality at all. I'd like to think that the cast are capable, and would prove it in a feature that allowed them to demonstrate their skills, but 'Revenge ride' isn't it. Between Timothy Durham's screenplay and perhaps more so Melanie Aitkenhead's direction, every actor present is either railroaded into chewing scenery, or seemingly coached into delivery that leads me to wonder if they hadn't just imbibed some camomile tea and were ready for a nap.

I do highly appreciate the wardrobe and costume design, makeup, and blood effects. I think the filming locations are swell. I like the core concept of the film, and I think all involved would have benefited had the narrative thrust been more tightly centered around that vengeful conflict. For that matter, it's notable that 'Revenge ride' is adapted from a short film, 'Blood ride,' likewise concocted between Durham and Aitkenhead a few years prior. That little movie doesn't seem as readily available to watch, but I'd be very curious to check it out as a point of comparison. It's also noteworthy that the feature broaches (however briefly and incompletely) all too common realities - the uselessness of police in matters of sexual assault, and college administrators, to say nothing of the way that other men may fail to repudiate predators, if not also enable or encourage them. In the face of injustice, the idea underpinning this movie is not just rational, but possibly even necessary.

It's too bad that these worthy elements are overwhelmed not just by the characterizations and unconvincing performances, but by the deeply uneven and even contradicting execution otherwise. The pivotal conflict of the story is substantially watered down by overemphasis on a "star-crossed" romantic B-plot. Even scenes focusing on the gang or the jocks, showing us more of their lives and who they truly are, are overwrought. I think the plot as written is complete and whole, but there's nonetheless excess and deficiencies in the screenplay, and 'Revenge ride' marks another instance where a more straightforward, plainspoken presentation (think 'Ms .45') would have been much more engaging and compelling. There's no real balance in the writing. Moreover, for a picture with "revenge" in the title, the fight scenes seem unsatisfyingly inauthentic, with generally sluggish choreography that greatly dampens the excitement.

And that brings us to some especially dire, glaring faults with the film as it is: despite mostly starring women, being directed by a woman, and ostensibly being about female empowerment, the feature we get nonetheless feels somewhat sexist. The very first thought I had as I began to watch was not an encouraging one - a film that focuses on women behaving with the same coarse boorishness more typically seen in men doesn't exactly do much to raise the glass ceiling. Without specifically counting, there are perhaps one to two dozen hardnosed, rough and tumble, "take no s---" women in Dark Moon, and a mere three arrogant jocks still manage to bloody them up pretty well. What happened to "girl power?"

The pointedly ruthless leader of the gang, Trigga - portrayed with every ounce of spite Pollyanna McIntosh can muster - is a pure embodiment of the "straw man" fallacy, a character defined almost entirely by the mythological misandry that the most toxic of men use as an excuse to rationalize their violent misogyny. Meanwhile, save for protagonist Maggie (Serinda Swan) and her cousin Mary (Vanessa Dubasso), the rest of the women in the gang are so bereft of individuality and reason that they follow Trigga's beck and call without question. At the same time that 'Revenge ride' would champion sisterhood, defying patriarchy, and claiming one's own justice in the face of rape, in my mind the end product also raises a massive red flag in other regards as a tent pole for "incel" and "men's rights" ignoramuses to rally around and justify their repellent worldviews.

And the ending, reasonable and appropriate as it may be, is shot and acted with such bluntness as to diminish its impact.

There are strong ideas here for what could have been a thrilling, visceral revenge flick. There are too many more ideas that negate that value, or dilute it. There are still other ideas that, in their realization, twist the whole into something else altogether, an abomination that undermines the original intent. 'Revenge ride' is only 73 minutes long, but in both written word and in light and sound, it would have been significantly enhanced with more severe consideration for editing.

The premise drew me in, and the movie itself almost immediately cast me out. It's not totally bereft of value, but what worth it possesses can also be found in far greater abundance elsewhere. Show me a cut that trims the fat, concretizes the vengeful core, and is substantially reduced in length, then we'll talk. Until then, I have a hard time recommending 'Revenge ride' to anyone at all.

Two disappointed thumbs down.

I actually loved it
jesilajay20 August 2020
I really don't let the reviews stop me from watching a movie and I most certainly never comment or review. This movie was great I thought. Most of the acting was good and the story line excelled. Lately I find it hard to sit thru any movie but this one got my full attention.

Honestly not that bad
Corky070530 November 2020
I mean I've seen a lot of movies in my time and this I can say isn't the worst. Not really good by all means but deserves more then what the rating is. The story just seems super rushed. Good idea but way too rushed without much backstory except a lil bit the main characters fill you in on. Some dialogue is cringy and laughable but the acting isn't the worst. Serinda Swan is good as always but the whole love story between her and Diego Boneta isbeyond unbelievable, unneeded and terrible. Just makes no sense. Chemistry isn't there either. Diego's acting is super bad and the most cringy part. The worst part though is the football players acting. Omg are they terrible and your gonna tell me 3 players go up against an entire female biker gang, yeah no way. The main female lead is ostracized bc the guy who's trying to help them and has done nothing is a man?! I'm even a lesbian and that's just nuts. It was entertaining, watchable, and honestly not too bad if you go in with no expectations but the female actresses definitely are the saving factors.

This movie was better than I thought. It wasn't a great movie but it certainly is not the worst movie that I have seen. I gave it a ten because of all the low ratings. It's actually a 6 star movie

Ugh...
jelencesb5 July 2020
If It wasnt for Serinda, who is magnificent in her every roll coz she knows how to act and who can save every thing she stars in by her take on the roles she s in, the movie would be a total disaster! It had a good idea, the story idea was good and all time relatable, which gave me hope. But whoever put all those scenes together did a bad thing... Who knows maybe even other actresses could add somerhing to a movie but yeah whoever glyed this movie together.... Folks, most sincerely, as someone who lives on movies and tv shows... I advise you to either skip this one or suffer through a bad movie to see that only worthy spark Serinda Swan is...

I Enjoyed It....
bronzesrv1 March 2024
Of course, this movie has very sensitive subject matter... However, I love me a great revenge movie. There was no happy ending here. But at least worth one watch. I haven't seen hardly any films out here with women biker gangs. Just usually the guys. Personally, I thought this would've made a good series... the sisters biker gang. It makes you think about who your friends and family really are, when the tough times happen. When push comes to shove, would you really ride and die for and with your sisters? This really drove that point home. And also shows how bonds like this can be really extreme and you have to think to yourself about the dos and don'ts of this so-called sisterhood. I don't like to give away spoilers, but I will say the leader of this so-called sisterhood had a good side and also a very selfish side, as if you could be no part of anything or anyone without her consent, and that can be very dangerous with your so-called sisterhood, you have to think for yourself and do for yourself at some point, YOU choose who you want your friends to be , especially if they are good folks, and mean you happiness. When your so-called sisters, start pushing away the good guys and telling you they can't be a part of your life, your so-called sisterhood are NOT your true sisters.

Turning the tables - bringing the hammer down ... serving justice to go - maybe you can think of some more puns. I am sure I could too, but I'll leave it at that right about now. We have Serinda Swan and Pollyanna McIntosh - both strong women in their own right. And women that did not know they were looking (out) for each other.

But still very different mind sets - it may have to do with the fact that Serinda came to the crew a long time after her assault took place ... and was not able to do a revenge ride - for better or worse. Or whatever that may mean.

There are moral implications here .. and things to consider. But in the end, this is a movie and if you feel uncomfortable about certain things - the movie intends you to feel that way. Especially towards an ending that most will not "agree" upon. When you become what you hunt ... you have missed your goal by more than a mile ...

Just a bland movie with terrible end. Warning: Spoilers
I get that Hollywood doesn't want to duplicate a real biker gang's tagline, but "suck my p****" is hardly a tough biker logo.

The only good thing about this movie is that the scenes about rape are not detailed. My hopes for this movie would be that it would have only a quick undetailed rape scene (which it did) but then the revenge would be straightforward against the football players that did it.

However this movie was more about revenge going back and forth without any intelligence of what could happen because of it.

In a biker game full of biker women that all look about as rough and tough as you can get, one of the only woman that was supposed to be rooting for is the one that's wearing all the makeup. Clearly she didn't really belong in the gang.

Her character gets involved with one of the football players involved in raping one of the other biker women. This of course leads to the boss of the biker gang to be angry with her because she believes all men are evil.

Even after the man is beat up and comes to them bloody to warn them about the other football players coming after her she kicks him out. This alone should have probably been enough for the girlfriend of him to leave the gang but instead she goes back to the gang and winds up getting him killed.

The end of the movie is so sudden and so bland, feels like they ran out of time for the movie and had to end it.

The movie ends with one of the two deaths that shouldn't have occurred not getting punished. And in the end the heroin on the bike just drives away leaving her colors on the ground signify she has left the gang. One could see this as her listening to the final message of her boyfriend that all violence will lead to more violence. But I'm not a fan of someone getting away with murder.
