Watch the series first

Warning: Spoilers
Do NOT watch this movie before you watch the series. RahXephon: Pluralitas Concentio is basically the series with some scenes altered, story arch change, some character changes and a slightly different and better explained ending. Although it may be intended to be a stand alone movie, the condensing of 26 episodes into 120minutes leaves the movie disjointed and confusing. Everything is too rushed and the characters undeveloped. However the ending gives a better understanding of what happened then the TV series. All in all I cannot really recommend this movie as a stand alone movie. Even for those who have watched the TV series, I think it would be better served going to the ending to see a better explanation of what and why.

trying to force a 26 episodes into one movie with a few different scenes

Warning: Spoilers
The plot for this is relatively the same as the anime series (just read my actual review).

This is another anime movie imo which nobody asked for. The only good quality i can think were the music, voice acting by adv and the animation. Also some of detail behind Haruka. I did also like that whole some scene of Haruka and Ayato as teens with their adult counter parts as well as one that is with Reika. I wish this particular scene was in the anime too.

Now on to the bad qualities; I hated how Haruka kidnapped Ayato against his will which definitely ruins her character amongst other things like raising a gun against him and willingly rapes him while being captured. This definitely didn't happen in the anime.

I hated how in this version Ayato's mother in this version kills her own boyfriend which makes zero sense as to why.

Another problem I have is how Koan as well as Reika who serve a key part in the anime were hardly even in the film as Koan was in a coma for most of the film and we don't even get to see her until the final fight. Reika as well up to my knowledge she only had like 2 or even three scenes.

Some of the changes they made as well made very little sense. Like how in the anime he runs away with Koan in the Rahxephon and reunits with his friends. But here it looks like he hasn't rain and whole tragic stuff with what happens between (not going say what) was all am illusion.

So yeah just like Eureka Seven Young Lovers film this is just another unwanted spin off which makes little to no sense.

Great ideas, awfully told

This is the "remake" of the one year older TV-series. The series had a lengths of 640 minutes, this movie stuffs the story into 120 minutes. This is the main problem the film is fighting all the time. Actually everything else is decent or good: conversations, drawings, music, atmosphere – all is on an OK-level. Yet, pretty much everything is destroyed because you keep feeling that something is missing... or something is explained badly... or stuff simply is told too quick. The movie doesn't take the time that is needed to create emotions. - It comes down to this: The whole film no longer works because everything is shortened way too much.

I haven't seen the series, but I can imagine that it's a pretty good one. The movie had some great ideas and attempts. Still, I personally am not going to watch the show. Simply because I know exactly what will happen. This movie should have a warning printed on itself saying: "spoileralert".
