Dan and Serena studying together
marthawilcox183117 August 2014
Dan is presented with the possibility that if he is expelled from school he has nothing else to fall back on. I know how that feels because when I was called up to the office of the Head of Department, I was presented with the possibility that if I was expelled from university I would have nothing to fall back on. Like Dan, Serena says that if she is expelled she doesn't think any school would take her. At this point I believe that Dan and Serena are two lost souls who have found and deserve each other.

We see Vanessa making a documentary to get a grant, but we don't get a clear sense of her character like Jenny. We know that Jenny is a social climber living in low rent accommodation who is prepared to sell her soul to break into middle class society. Vanessa is not like that so we're not sure what she's about. Does she really want to make documentaries? We don't see her putting herself out of the way to get into a filmmaking community.

Perhaps the most touching scene in this episode is when Rufus says to Lily that he is still in love with her.

School Lies (#1.12)

Warning: Spoilers
The pool party story was pretty good. A bit of suspense on who did it and what will happen. But the best story was that of Rufus and Lily. And it is so incredibly sad. Second time in her life she gives up on true happiness because of a family member. And Serena didn't even care although she saw how unhappy Lily was at the engagement party. Actually she should have dated anyways. Just not publicly until Serena and Dan break up. Likely it will happen at some point. Too bad if they give up this story. This is one of the rare times when adult story in a teenage soap is even better than what the main characters are doing

Another entertaining episode

Warning: Spoilers
The pool party story was cool. In this episode Serena, Blair, Nate, Chuck and other students break into their school's pool and have an illegal party. Someone falls into the pool and almost drowns. The headmaster wants to find out who broke into the school's pool and expel them. A bit of suspense on who did it.

We found out that Serena was the one who broke into the school's pool but luckily she doesn't get expelled thanks to Bart Bass.

Vanessa is caught filming Chuck and Blair talk about their one night stand. Chuck and Blair try to get the tape from Vanessa. Vanessa gives Chuck a fake tape and gives the real one to Blair. In return, Blair pays Vanessa's rent for a whole year.

Rufus tells Lilly he loves her and they decide to go on a small trip until Serena tells Lilly that she loves Dan and doesn't want him to be her stepbrother. Lilly accepts Barts proposal and it's sad. I hope we can still get the chance to see Lilly and Rufus together soon.

At the end of the episode Serena goes to Dans house because she realizes she belongs with him and they study together.

Overall this episode was pretty good but not the best.

The One With The Illegal Pool Party...
taylorkingston15 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I don't really love this episode. I gave it a 6 out of 10. A respected rating, not amazing, but not terrible. It's okay, it's so-so. I watch it, and I enjoy it, but there isn't any, "Oh my God!", or "Holy crap!" moments in this episode, not for me, anyway.

In this episode, everyone, including Blair, Serena, Nate, and Chuck, break into their school's swimming pool, and have themselves a nice little illegal pool party. But then, someone almost drowns in the pool, and the Headmistress finds out. Everyone agrees to keep the secret, and say nothing, but this causes tension between a lot of people, especially when expulsions are on the table. Meanwhile, Vanessa is working on a documentary about private schools, and accidentally catches Blair, and Chuck talking about their one-night-stand. And Lily contemplates telling Rufus how she really feels about him, like anyone cares about the adults in this show. It's not The O.C.

Overall, I give this episode a 6 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Good.
