I'm not going to look ridiculous. I'll be in costume
nogodnomasters6 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The picture consists of two doll short stories plus a clown support story in Newnan, Georgia. The leprechaun story was okay and I thought the Patty doll was a bit better. What I liked about the doll stories is that they basically have not been done. Having said that the film lacked a horror film atmosphere direction, build-up, and suspense.

If you watch it with subtitles it includes sentences that are not spoken.

Guide: No sex or nudity. No F-word, but uses adult language.

My Review Of "Evil Little Things"
ASouthernHorrorFan26 June 2020
The story about the leprechaun is probably the longest of the two shorts that make up the body of the film. It is a cute story, it isn't really scary but it has a very creepy atmosphere that permeates the story. It does seem to take longer than necessary to tell, and the horror elements are kinda minimal. Still the killer leprechaun doll used is creepy as it gets and it ends with the classic twisted ending we all love about classic anthology series.

The second of the stories deals with an evil porcelain doll that has a jealous streak fed by the demonic. It is a pretty familiar tale, but still it is told nicely. It is a bit shorter than the first and there is a little bit more horror in this one. Mostly paranormal-esque gimmicks and occult themes toward the end. I was crazy about the choice of voice for the Patty doll but she looks evil. Plus the story had another wicked little ending.

The wraparound is my favorite story. It is classic "Creepshow" style storytelling. The first half plays as your basic set up for the two middle stories, but it starts out with a hint of domestic violence. The second half is the fun part, and although it is short it has the most horror in the anthology. Plus a clown doll that goes all demony is always a treat.

Overall "Evil Little Things" is a cute horror anthology. I do enjoy a bit more horror in the films, but I did appreciate the throwback feel of the stories. Plus I am a sucker for evil, creepy doll movies. "Evil Little Things" will find a fan base, it is pretty PG so hardcore splatter/gore fans may not get it, but check it out and decide for yourself.

I'd compare this to Body Bags but this is a far step down from classics like Creep Show and Tales from the Darkside.

Evil Little Things (2019) is a horror film comprised of several short stories and is available for free on Amazon Prime. The story takes place when a mom and son walk into a local toy shop and the child seems interested in every obscure toy in the shop and of course each obscure toy has a horror tale behind how it arrived at the toy shop. The movie is directed by Matt Green (No Sin Unpunished and Slaw) and stars Cory Anderson (Art of Sin), Piper Collins (Dead of Night), Zach Galligan (Gremlins) and Hannah Fierman (V/H/S). The storylines in this are interesting and worth following. The kill scenes and execution are very average but the plots are fun and that's all you can ask for in these films. I'd compare this to Body Bags but this is a far step down from classics like Creep Show and Tales from the Darkside. I'd give it a 5/10.

I only say if I could give a 0, I would.

I actually watch every movie I started.. but I couldn't finish this one. Lame story, bad acting, crappy script. I would expect more from a 2019 movie.. this is like some work from a schools media class, if that would be the case, I'd say all right, for a first try that is fine..but weak. Anyway this is not the case,so I only say if I could give a 0 I would.

That's totally the worst movie of 2019 or maybe of whole 2010s decade, still not sure. Everything was wrong with this film. Acting was so poor like 0.3/10, even school boys and girls would act much better than all the crew in this film. About plot. Well there was no plot, it was just lack thing about dolls and that's all. Effects and filming... Oh Gosh... I can't even describe how cringe it was to watch it... It was released in 2019 and even "POTATO" camera would film better than this. Effects were hideous. There was nothing good about this "film". The only horror I saw was how hideous this movie is. Don't watch and save yourself from this piece of crap.

What Is This?? Some Sort Of Freak Show???
wandernn1-81-68327422 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is another one of those made for IFC films. It starts with the fairly standard the kid complains about a monster under his bed. The parents check, and find nothing there.

So little dude they want to get him some sort of stuffed animal to 'keep him safe'.

So they end up at this doll store where this guy proceeds to tell them these stories behind these dolls.

First up with this living leprechaun doll that always seems to move around nad do stuff when no one is looking. So of course you don't ever seem to see it move, you just find it when it has moved. Well that is of course for the first half of the movie.

The leprecahaun story is pretty bad. Just like the Chuckie story basically. -1 Star

The next doll story is about Patty. So we start seeing some boring story about some 28 year old who keeps this doll named Patty. Oh my dear, whoever did the voice for this doll was horrific.

-1 Star for the horrible voice acting for the Patty doll

So this Patty doll's owner is obsessed with dolls. And Apparently is having problems finding a suitable man. But the Patty doll sure isn't very helpful. and the longer this story goes on, the more you have to hear this really obnoxiously horrible doll voice coming from this thing. And the Patty doll messes up one of the other dolls.

lol, 'I rejoice in our bond of love and trust' Patty tells her dumb owner.

When the dumb owner goes over to the dumb dude's place, she almost seems normal. Oh and I guess they DID IT, because suddenly they seem to be in bed unclothed. Where she tells dumb guy , 'no more dolls'

-1 Star for shower scene with no nudity, even tho there was blood as.....

Patty has some sort of power to voodoo doll her dumb owner. And Patty is irate that her dumb owner 'fornicated' with the dumb guy. Patty voodoos her dumb owner to death?? Is the story over? No, dumb dude wakes up and sees Patty on video on his laptop. Patty made dumb owner Abby into a DOLL. God the story still isn't over??? Housekeeping in the morning finds 2 dolls in the room. Oh wow they look lik Abby and Jeremy, or should I say dumb and dumber. Is the story over now?? Yes , thank GOD.

Back to the shop. And the shopkeep offers them a stuffed animal. But the boy , Jason wants a clown doll. And he wants to name it GIGGLES. GIGGLES THE CLOWN!! And when DAD gives Jason a ration of schlitz that night, GIGGLES THE CLOWN comes to the rescue, and daddy disappears under the bed! And that's the end!!!

Wow, that was really bad. But, I made it to the end!!! 2/10

Low Budget Chucky Stories
fjames-4645629 April 2021
If it was made in better quality and better acting, it could actually be a good movie. But im judging as is...just bad....the only reason I gave it 2 stars was the because of the ending.

The first story with the leprachan doll....how many countless horror and tv movies have been made where the doll is alive ? since the early 1960s....movie is a terrible waste of time...

Not nice for sure
kosmasp26 August 2022
Also no pun intended either - there are so many horror movies out there. Is it necessary to watch this one? I reckon it will depend ... like if you see someone in this that you are a fan of. Be it Gremlins Zach or anyone else. Yes there are some recognizable faces here - they all need money too.

That all being said, the short stories in between are kind of fun. Especially because the movie is not that long in the first place. Some evil little things do happen during that short run time too ... well told - or at least decently. Especially considering the low budget this must have had.

Sometimes I do wonder if there is more to say than what I already did. And then I remember that I will not be the only one with that issue. Hey Imdb needs these to be a bit longer to seperate themselves from other sites I reckon - so we'll do them that favor.

Ridiculous
mmilenica8721 March 2022
I honestly think that even fans of horror movies with dolls find this movie a garbage. The voice of the doll Patty is ugh... I cannot even... Did they think if someone talks like a baby that would be, what? Scary? Dolls sound like they have some sort of speech impairment. Avoid this movie it's just... Ridiculous.

Great movie for a low budget edge of your seat horror film
nickmansb26 May 2020
The movie is very eery and has you on the edge of your seat. Very creatively scary! The doll shop scenes were some of my favorite scenes, very spooky, and help set the tone. The more you think about the story the scarier it gets, wont be going around any dolls any time soon!

A Solid Debut attempt with Cult Classic Appeal
bookingseangloria9 May 2020
There is certainly a market and cult classic crowd welcoming Evil Little Things with open arms. I'm most impressed by the imaginative storytelling by writers Bakhtiari and Knight, seconded by the film being Bakhtiari's first credited film as a writer and executive producer, which you could not tell from the production quality and story. You really get to feel a passion for storytelling with this one, even if it isn't completely well-rounded.

Courtney Lakin carries the bulk of the acting talent here, but there is no listed Casting Director and I think that is where this film slips the most. Moments are off-beat or missed entirely by most of the cast and although there are genuinely creepy moments, some others just can't help but to seem funny.

The set ups and pacing of the story could of used some refining, but again, we're discussing a debut feature film here for the writer/executive producer.

Overall, an impressive accomplishment! Anyone working in this industry realizes how difficult of a task it can be to write / fund / produce a full length feature film, even more so without prior experience. You can find First Attempts all over Amazon Prime, but do they not share the visual quality of Evil Little Things. So thumbs up to Roman Weaver as well. Keep an eye on the double-threat Bakhtiari as an executive producer and writer if this is what she is capable putting together right out of the gate.

As a long time watcher of thrillers, I commend artists that are able to string together a project on a low budget. Movies like this are able to provide a great watch for the common thriller viewer and inspires other creatives.

Solid middle-range anthology effort
Trying to get over a fear of the dark, a mother takes her son to a local toy-shop to buy a new doll only to hear terrifying tales about each of his potential choices.

The Good Stor(ies): Blood for Gold-Settling down for the night, a young son's insistence on seeing the mystical leprechaun from the stories' he's heard grows to an annoyance for his mother who tries to turn her attention to settling into the new house and her novel. As they continue cleaning up, the appearance of a strange Leprechaun doll around the house causes them to believe something isn't right about the object. Overall, this is a pretty decent way to get this one going. The cliche narrative of a couple moving into a new house and not being believers of the series of local stories are cleverly inserted throughout the early setup. It adds to the Gothic ambiance with the house's layout and the general darkness that's prominent throughout here alongside the other attempts at spotlighting the potential of something happening in the house. Once the doll shows up, the cliched notions of it changing positions in the house, appearing when it shouldn't and appearing to be caught red-handed performing obvious activities a doll shouldn't be doing make it obvious something's going on since this all takes up too much time before getting the full reveal of the killer doll walking around. The flashback to explain it all tries to add context to everything but this still runs on far too long before anything interesting happens.

Be Careful What You Wish For-Preparing to leave for a convention display, a lonely doll collector finally receives the latest addition to her collection that she will be showcasing at the upcoming convention. When her attempted reconciliation with a former beau causes the dolls to lash out and drive a wedge between them, finally forcing her to choose between the doll and potential romance. This was a pretty solid effort. The idea of the backstory involving both her physical deformity as well as the different abnormalities on the dolls that explains her attachment to them is quite enjoyable here as the whole downtrodden attitude and easily manipulated mindset she has makes for a sympathetic turn here while also generating the potential of what the dolls' obsessive behavior towards her entails. The various tricks and cheap-shots the doll takes to split them up are cleverly designed as genuine accidents while she knows better, furthering the split personality and descent into madness and loneliness that's at the root of the films' storyline as the final half turns into a much more ambitious and darker conclusion than expected. All in all, this was a highly enjoyable and worthwhile segment.

The Bad Stor(ies): The Clown-After too many sleepless nights, a mother takes her son to a local toy-shop to buy a new doll to get over a fear of the dark only to hear terrifying tales about each of his potential choices. Deciding to take a special clown doll home, he discovers that there might be something wrong with his choice of protector. This wasn't great but it's enjoyable enough. As a means of setting up the potential of the anthology, this is a perfectly serviceable idea that allows for a worthwhile setup in getting to the doll shop and causing the stories to be told about the dolls he selects. With the different figures around the shop providing the opportunity to look at the various stories told, that gives this quite a lot to like although the ending of this one carries so many cliches and comes across so obviously that it feels undermined by its overall setup. Combined with the rushed feeling and lack of proper cohesion as to why the dolls specially appeared in the store, this one isn't a bad effort but does feel quite problematic.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Violence.

The whole film kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the characters and production set up. Speaking as a film maker, I would recommend to anyone. The toy maker was the best actor.

Suspenseful Thriller!

The actresses and production had good quality throughout the film, and the story did a great job at developing throughout the film. For a film in this genre, it definitely entertained me I would recommend.

Creepy and surreal
maryjanepenn9 May 2020
I remember I was totally creeped out by the leprechaun story, the creaking of the wood, the dismantling or reinforcing of the curse... the doll story, I was frightened but there were humorous moments tucked in that allowed some relief to the suspense of what the doll would and could do.
