Pretty stupid...and that's okay.

Warning: Spoilers
JINX! is a film that is pretty stupid in many ways, so lovers of the ultra-serious probably won't enjoy the film. In addition, some of the characters are ridiculous (the two teachers--in particular the first one). However, considering that the film makers seemed to WANT to make a stupid and ridiculous short comedy, it's quite a success.

The film begins on the playground where a particularly snotty little kid calls "jinx!" and the other girl is not supposed to say anything until this snotty kid says her name. I've never heard of such a game, but considering I am an old fart, this isn't all that surprising. What's surprising, though, is that the little girls took this SO seriously. And, when the nasty girl ends up moving to California, there's no way for the other girl to avoid the jinx unless she remains mute.

When the film then jumps 75 years later into the future, the story REALLY gets weird--and funny. This leads to one of the better endings I've seen in some time--and it makes the entire film worth while.

Funny, strange and worth seeing--keep your eyes glued to IFC where it's currently being featured.

A very funny short about revenge, and the dangers of childhood.

Warning: Spoilers
This is the kind of film that can instantly brighten up an otherwise terrible day. The opening scene perfectly captures the feeling of being an outsider shunned by the "normal" world, as well as depicting the cruelty of those that "fit in" towards those that are different, and manages to do this while keeping you thoroughly entertained. It's filled with memorable characters such as the overly excited and slightly frightening art teacher, that is sure to remind you of a teacher out of your own past. The story gets funnier as it goes along, reaching its comic peak with the revenge of our wronged heroine. It's downright hilarious! If you get a chance to see this film, you have to take it! Highly recommended.
