The problem with great shows that fans are always expecting the best from the show creators. But sometimes, the show doesn't just live up to our expectations, especially if it had previously succeeded to take our breath away, because after all the writers are just humans and they have their pitfalls.
After the magnificent season two's premier "In my time of dying", "The magnificent seven" just shies away in its face, yet it is still a fine episode, just not as stellar.
Following the events of last season's finale, Now hundreds of daemons are loose and Dean has a year to live. The Winchester boys are left challenging evils bigger than they can handle. Moreover, They are taking the blame from other hunters as they apparently had a hand in freeing those daemons from Hell.
Knowing that if he tries to get himself out of the daemon deal Sam will die and Knowing he has nothing to lose, Dean engages himself in reckless, suicidal and childish actions much to Sam's dismay, who wants Dean to concentrate more on trying to save himself. Dean wants to get the most of his final year trough eating and indulging himself with one night stands and Sam finds himself obliged to allow Dean have some fun. The boys team up with two hunters, a married couple "Isaac" and "Tamara", in addition to Bobby. The team faces the first apocalyptic challenge in the form of daemons of The Seven Deadly Sins.
This episode might not be the best in the show, but it had its share of good moments, humorous one liners and gruesome death scenes. It was interesting to show The Seven Deadly Sins as daemons, However I hopped they would expand their story line, They would have been great villains on the upcoming episodes. Furthermore, the writers seemed to clear off some of last season's characters in the finale to make space for new ones. Katie Cassidy is a nice addition to the show, her character seems to be interesting and her entrance didn't seem forced and delivered the desired effect on the viewer. We will sure see her again. I liked Tamara and I hope to see her again. On the other hand, I can't say the same about Isaac and I'm not surprised he was killed off. The guy was a stupid jerk and was pressing on my nerves.
Probably I have already mentioned this for like the millionth time, But again I can't help it every time Dean says "I'm tired" when he is making a sacrifice I just remember John's same words before he died. And AH!, again with Sam's neck :)
