One Of My All-Time Favorite Scrubs Episodes
crscountrykid2 February 2012
I truly think this episode of Scrubs doesn't get a lot of recognition of being one of the best ones. Maybe its because it didn't have a lot of comedic elements but also did not have one of those emotional moments either, such as the ones in My Screwup or My Lunch.

Bottom line is this: Out of the eight seasons of Scrubs (yes, I said eight...deal with it), this episode deserves much more fanfare than what it gets. There's no make-or-break moment but it is simple and straightforward.

Awesome. A real treat. George Valentine, FTW. He ranks right up there with other Scrubs patients such as Mrs. Wilk, Jill Tracy, and other memorable patients.

a good episode to remember

it's really hard to make a comedy-drama show without being insensitive. Scrubs mostly deals with this problem very well. In this particular episode it's the ultimate challenge of this struggle, because of the subject of this episode is death and the fear of death. in 'My Last Words', scrubs didn't just manage to bring comedy and drama together without fail but they also did this in a very graceful way. although the subject itself is serious and depressing the episode is kinda relieving. JD and Turk's approach to fear of death is really simple but effective. i also found the idea of changing JD and Turk's coats into casuals to make these intense moments with the patient warm and intimate brilliant . this is one of the best episodes of scrubs and i am glad that it was on season 8, i will always remember scrubs with this episode and 'My Old Lady' from season 1 ;)

Best one of the series?

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode JD and Turk stay with a patient (Mr Valentine) in the last hours of his life.

It isn't the episode that show the most character progression, but I believe that it is the most human in a series that overflows with humanity.

No Cox, no Elliot, no Kelso, no Janitor... The episode works entirely on the relationship between Mr. Valentine and his two doctors that want to make his last moments happy.

The comedy is not the wittiest, but it comes from the chemistry between the actors and the goofiness of Ted.

It may not make you laugh the most, but after "My Finale part 2" it is the episode that will make you cry the most: for the majority of the episode I was in tears.

Only criticism is the interns, since in adding all those new characters between season 7 and 8 the show jumps the shark a bit.

It's still on my top 3 best episodes of the series and top 10 in best episodes of all time in any series.

the perfect combination between comedy and drama

one of the good things about not only the episode but also the series is that at some point they can not forget on which sircunstanses they are developing the series, it impossible for an hospital to not having bad news or drama, and scrubs really understands that because at some point the know when is kidding and when not. In this episode j.d and Turk help an almost dead man to accept his end...and the same time j.d and Turk do.....feel...truly fear about dead....great episode....if seen scrubs like for a year, I instantley become a great fan because the series is hilarious but sometimes sad.....but what do really matter is the fact that know at this point of the series they are all in the position they wanted to be....some there will be no madoxx..Dr cox will replace her and Dr kelso...JD is going to be on Dr.cox place an finally he is starting to treat him like equal....and so and on...they are progressing..excellent series.

A fantastic episode

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is so freaking amazing, a patient close to death and has no one to be with him. So JD and Turk stay with him and help through what he's going through. It's so amazing, him not wanting to die not knowing where he'd go, how it will feel to die. He's just so scared and wants another chance. What makes this episode so great is his reaction is probably what most people reaction would be. Scared, alone and wanting another shot at everything. But Turk and JD make him feel at more peace with death. They also give him his last beer and make him laugh. Just a phenomenal episode.
