Survivor Man (#4.7)

Warning: Spoilers
Michael isn't invited to Ryan's camping trip so he makes one for himself.

That was funny. Michael all upset he wasn't invited while Toby was. Watching him play survivor man was really good, especially the moment when Dwight hit him on the head with the shoe or when he came to the rescue.

Jim's cake story was also not bad with all the different cake wishes, Toby wanting to be included (which seemed a bit out of character, Toby seems the reasonable one, this would be more Michael's issue) and Jim being called Michael.

I'm not going to lie. Two episodes in a row were pretty bland, I didn't see a lot of jokes or even interesting scenes, it was just always the same, too bland for me.

The melancholy mood of this episode brings out the true nature of this show; a man lost in his life, both metaphorically and in reality. As Michael discusses his feelings of betrayal and isolation as a result of Ryan excluding him from his camping trip, he simultaneously shows his inner spirit of seeking. Sprinkled throughout this chapter is, of course, comedy gold in the form of quotes and commentary from the supporting characters. Dwight proclaims himself to be a savior of Michael's dignity and integrity, but quickly reassess this stance. The episode ends in redemption and a sense of finding answers and community. In my eyes, this is the quintessential Office episode which captures Michael's struggles perfectly.

'Dwight will drive me deep into the Pennsylvania Wilderness wear I'll either die or survive...The choice is yours'. 'No actually the choice is yours'.
